No wonder this stunning place nominated as one of the best private villas in the world. Many times my head is messing up with me, and made me think that i am staying in Ubud. The jungle vibes, the relax feeling, the serenity.. all of those things, doesn't feel like i was staying in Canggu. And yes, those feelings are make me like i am in my private zone! Not to mention all the staff, they are very nice and super friendly. Always check on you, and make sure you got everything you need. The interior of this villa is a WOW! I like how they paint all the walls with white color, and put big mirrors in every room, even the room! Makes its look more spacious and clean. All the furnitures are also perfectly fit the white wall and the mirror. Soft and pastel or earth colors really suits this villa very well. So special and very beautiful. The food is also amazing, and healthy! On our last night, they set up a nice dinner in the pergola area. So pretty and lovely! This is one of the best experience that i would never forget for sure!

Sometimes, a journey takes you to a place that feels like a secret you want to keep, but the world deserves to know about it. Sungai Jungle Villas is one such hidden treasure that left me utterly enchanted during my recent stay. Tucked away in the heart of Bali's Cepaka village, this jungle-covered hillside retreat is like a page from a storybook come to life. The villas, described on their website as a "dream-like holiday experience," did not disappoint. From the romantic canopy beds that felt like they were plucked from a fairy tale to the private infinity pools that beckoned us to take a dip under the stars – every moment was filled with magic. What truly sets Sungai Jungle Villas apart is the intimacy and bespoke experience it offers. With only two private residences on the property, it felt as though we had stepped into our own exclusive world. Whether you're a couple seeking a romantic escape, a family yearning for quality time together, or a group of friends in search of seclusion, these villas have been designed to provide endless privacy and space for 1-6 guests. I stayed with two friends, and each master bedroom and private en-suite blew us away. The jungle themed bathrooms, luxury interior and outstanding infinity pools really sets this place apart from many other luxury stays I have had the pleasure to stay at in Bali over the last 6 years. One highlight of our stay was the culinary journey we embarked on. Sungai Jungle Villas' culinary team surpassed all expectations. Dining in the pavilions felt like a regal affair. Each 5 course meal was a masterpiece, a true revelation for any food enthusiast. The wellness offerings at Sungai Jungle Villas were equally remarkable. From rejuvenating welcome massages that melted away our stress to traditional Balinese healing therapies that felt like a journey into the soul, every experience was delivered with care and expertise. Yoga and Pilates sessions in this serene jungle setting were the cherry on top of our wellness retreat. Beyond the luxury, Sungai Jungle Villas offers a unique chance to immerse yourself in authentic Balinese culture. We had the privilege of observing local village life and exploring the hidden gems of the Tabanan Regency. From the dramatic volcanic mountains to the serene surf-lapped shorelines, every moment was a revelation. The eco-friendly design of the villas, using locally sourced materials and blending seamlessly into the natural landscape, reflects a commitment to sustainability that's commendable. But, what truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like cherished guests in their own home. Our guest services manager, Made, was like a personal concierge, ensuring every detail of our stay was perfect. The team's warmth, charm, and attention to detail made our experience intimate and discreet. Sungai Jungle Villas isn't just a place to stay; it's a magical journey that redefines luxury. As we reluctantly said our goodbyes, we left with hearts full of gratitude and memories of secluded luxury, exceptional cuisine, impeccable service, and the enchanting beauty of Bali. Sungai Jungle Villas is more than a destination; it's a secret slice of paradise that deserves to be discovered by all who seek the extraordinary.

We were seeking the perfect Bali retreat and thankfully found Sungai Villas. From the first contact with Pamela we anticipated it would be first class and it did not disappoint in any way. We booked both villas for a 2 week stay and absolutely loved it. SunGai is not just a villa but a private 5 Star Resort that satisfied our every requests with an amazing team and facilities. Both villas are amazing, secluded, peaceful, and impeccably set out with plenty of space and different zones to relax, dine, swim or play. The food, the cocktails, the ambience was all fantastic. We had requested a special birthday dinner party one evening that was executed flawlessly with entertainment, fireworks, and the most surreal and elegant sunset and evening settings. There were 100’s of candles, flowers, rose petals in the pools, the baths, the bedrooms….it was beautifully done. The stay was really very special and made so particularly by the staff. Led by Made’, the large team provided faultless yet discrete service and tended to our every request with big smiles and absolute dedication to please. They are all professionals. Ilu and Nadia were outstanding for the dining and daily cocktails, the chefs produced first class meals, the housekeeping team worked non stop to ensure the place was immaculate - and it was at all times. The bedrooms were serviced multiple times per day which was great. The Villa Manager Made’ personally drove me around the island for early doors surf sessions. We trekked North and South, some times for hours, in pursuit of the uncrowned and best breaks. This was an every day mission, leaving the villa in the darkness, Made’ would set me up with fresh brewed espresso and snacks for the road trip. I thoroughly enjoyed his company, his stories and wisdom as we navigated together. Truly memorable. So Pamela, Made’, the whole SunGai Team, the five of us thank you sincerely for an amazing holiday. We throughly enjoyed our stay and are recommending it to all of friends in Dubai and Australia. It was absolutely First Class.

Darren...as I have mentioned previously, I will miss our planning inter-actions! It was such a joy to help you plan this amazing family get together as I understood how very important it was for you to make super special. The team and I were just hopeful that we would not disappoint as the passion you showed was remarkable. Thank you for confirming that you were pleased with the result, it is really important and special for all of us. I was able to see the response of your lovely family (and the team) to the birthday celebrations from the wings and it was so satisfying! Thank you so much for entrusting this special visit to us and we do very much hope that you will return in some way in the future. Kindest regards Pamela

The warmest welcome we've ever experienced. Even though the villas are private, the staff is always available in case you need something. We started our trip with a welcome drink, welcome massage and later we had a 90 minute signature massage, which is a must do!

I'm going to start with saying that in the years of being a reviewer on Trip Advisor it pains me to give my first less-than 5 star review. In saying so, it takes a lot for me to post a review for an accommodation if I can't give it 5 stars. I've had numerous below average stays in the years, but I have never felt compelled to post a review of my negative experiences until this one. I took some time to make the decision but I feel it would be helpful for anyone deciding to book Sungai. 1. The owner and her very condescending customer service. First of all the staff is lovely, but even they seem to not enjoy hospitality. I think it has a direct relation to the owner, Pamela, and her attitude towards customer service. There were so many times we were told they would be charging us for random little things. First it was the canapés that were initially offered as complimentary when booking, but then we were told we had to pay. Then we were told if we wanted to bring outside food (mind you this is a villa with a pool and not a hotel with restaurants, spa, kids club, gym facilities) then they will charge a supplement. Again, no mention of this when booking. This would be okay if there were restaurants, but this was a villa with a kitchen attached and a very limited menu (for vegetarians - even though she did blame me for not stating we are vegans (which we aren’t)). We stayed for 10 nights, how many days did she except us to eat risotto or pasta, salad or pad Thai? It’s not even the extra charges, it’s the way we were spoken to. We paid for the best villa, a car for our entire stay and honestly, we didn’t have a budget. But it’s the principal and the owner loved saying in 20 years, you are the first ones to have an issue.” when we emailed each other after leaving. Instead of apologizing and moving on she wanted to be patronizing. Even the top hotels in the world have drawbacks and short comings. The important thing to note is that our entire 10 night stay, we didn’t complain once, we were very quiet and went out on excursions and ate at restaurants. We were a happy family, my parents were with us and even though it wasn’t an ideal stay for the reasons above and below, I would have never posted this review. However, we brought food home just twice in 10 days. And after the second time, I received an extremely rude email stating the new charges that would occur if we brought any more food back. Had this blame the customer not occurred, I would have let the following below go as well. 2. So many up hidden up charges. Down to the type of coffee you order. One type of coffee is included in the breakfast but the other isn’t. They want to charge $30 if you decide you don’t want to eat from their kitchen, but want a night in and order takeaway. And various others, beware. Again, these are minimal, but they really rubbed us the wrong way as it’s very common to be taken advantage of when we are on a luxury vacation. 3. This is no fault of Sungai as it is a jungle location, but the insects and frogs are everywhere. Red ants up and down walls. Flying bugs, caterpillars and mozzies. And if you ask them to do some pest control the smell is horrendous and obviously not healthy to breathe in. All the showers are outdoors so keep that in mind if you don’t like bugs. Even the rooms have all types of insects. 4. Location is quite far from anything (canngu being the closest at 25 mins away). So if you want a more secluded hideaway and don’t want to venture out too much, this would be okay for you. 5. Extremely low water pressure in all showers and very loud, ancient ac’s 6. We did extend our stay in Bali as we couldn’t leave in such a disappointing note. We booked elsewhere and thankfully all was incredible.

Sadly, with multiple communications to Nesha that have been negated or mis-construed since their visit back mid-2022, this response is for the guests who have been here or are coming and wonder if this review was for the right property – and why so long after the actual stay? Out team was at a loss to impress the group – everyone who has stayed with us knows how much pride they take in making the guest experience very special – but the team even commented there was not a “smile” until day 4. They were in uncharted territory. All issues (and in a jungle environment there can be some) were addressed just as quickly as possible with consideration to the guests’ programs – some of the issues experienced (eg red ants) we had never had to deal with previously, nor since. This was a booking that saw multiple date changes prior to the pandemic and was being honoured several years later – the email trail is some 200 pages long. In the time that transpired, of course some pricing had changed, and model adjusted – all of this was advised. SJV prides itself on the provision of extensive pre-booking and pre-arrival information sharing and inter-action, however, we cannot ensure that information is absorbed. Following the guests’ departure, we appropriately undertook immediate debriefs as the team could not but feel the disturbing vibe of discontent apart from actual complaints, and I was receiving communications to that effect from Nesha. We implemented immediate operational changes to make sure such experiences were never had again, and some policy changes to prevent such a disappointing result in the future. It was a shock so far after the event to be alerted to this potentially extremely confusing review that took us all way back to that very disappointing booking. To misleadingly post it as being a March 2023 stay is the most alarming thing given the number of reviews from our amazing Christmas and January bookings that have been nearly embarrassing they are so glowing. During considerable post-departure communications, we never refuted some issues could have been handled better but they were, in the main, ones that we had not been confronted with previously. We go to lengths on our website and in initial and follow-up communications to explain that we are a fully-staffed private villa with a focus on in-house dining with an extensive menu (incl 21 vegetarian main course items), bar and spa. We cater carefully to guests’ dietary issues when they are advised, and with the extensive lead-in communication there is ample opportunity to raise such important issues pre-arrival as the menus are shared at time of enquiry. Our product is tailored to allow guests to combine dining ‘in’ much of the time unlike at most villas where guests need to buy in food or dine out as there are no full-time chefs, and often not a full dining/bar team. We try so hard from point of enquiry to departure at the airport to create special experiences for our guests and to have been accused of failing so badly this time is upsetting for the entire team who are so proud of their reputation as being genuine, caring service professionals who do in fact love their jobs. When guests are positive and engaged then the best is experienced of any product, sadly that was not the case here.

Fantastic experience. Made and his team were top notch. Great quiet resort Villa with 5 star amenities and services. We were only there 3 nights and wished that we had booked for longer. We chose to stay on the resort and not do day tours so that we could enjoy the pool, spa and the weather. When we return to Bali, this will be a definite stay again. Coordinating with Pamela for the original booking was also timely, helpful and professional.

While we have stayed at Sungai twice previously with young children, this was our first overseas trip post covid with our now teenage boys. And wow- how glad I am that we got to experience it again! It was even better than I remembered. Staying at the Jungle Villas is like staying in the best 5 star hotel - but with more luxurious accomodation , and with more personal ( 24 hour!) service than you thought possible . From the initial communication and planning stages with Pamela , to Made picking us up from the airport and stopping for lunch at a restaurant Pamela had recommended , to arriving at our amazing Villa- it was perfect. We stayed in Villa 2 , with three bedrooms ( each with king bed, dressing room and amazing bathroom with bathtub and double showers and sinks). There was plenty of outside living space too with a pool bar, dining area and deck chairs all with the beautiful infinity pool as a focal point overlooking the river and the jungle. At Sungai you have the best of both sides of Bali - you are in a village where you can enjoy walks through the rice fields and a slower pace of life, or use the private vehicle with Made taking you anywhere you would like to go to some of the tourist sights/ attractions or shopping . We enjoyed our trips , but the best part was coming back to the Villa! The food was amazing , with a very extensive menu that you choose from each day. The kids loved choosing drinks from the extensive mocktail list - with beer/wine/cocktail choices for the adults. But best of all were the staff- they couldn’t do enough for you… engaging with the kids, learning our favourite drinks , arranging massages, settling up candlelight baths . We were totally spoilt , had the most amazing 10 days , and would do it again in a heartbeat. My only tip would be- communicate…. tell Made and the staff what you want and they will make it happen!

It's hard to imagine a better Villa experience. Our family of 5 (3 adult kids) stayed in Villa 2 for 8 nights and loved every second. I learned about Sungai Jungle Villas from my own parents who stayed there several years ago, and had raved about it. The Villa itself is spectacular, and the 3 air-conditioned bedrooms were equally luxurious. Each bedroom had the most beautiful bathroom - there was certainly no fighting over rooms. The pool is glorious, especially when the staff placed votive candles around it each night. This brings me to the staff, who were arguably the best part of an already amazing holiday. The Manager Made was so much more than a concierge or driver. We were staying at the Villa over New Year's and our children had made plans to go to one of the beach clubs for NYE. As our youngest daughter was still 17 we were concerned about the kids getting stuck and unable to get home at 2am. However Made offered to stay and wait in Seminyak after driving them to the beach club, and then brought them safely home. It was the definition of going above and beyond. The other staff members were equally amazing - little things like remembering the way everyone liked their drinks, knowing food preferences - nothing was beyond them. And finally the communication with the Villa owner/manager Pamela was exceptional from the first enquiry to our return home. I couldn't have asked for a better experience from a communication perspective. In summary, it was the perfect holiday in every way and we would go back in a heartbeat.
