It all started well and continued to get better. We sent an E mail in advance to say that we would be arriving early and got a freindly E mail back saying that the host (William) would wait up. Upon arrival we were welcomed nicely and taken up to our room. We had the family suite which suited us well... More

In all our honeymoon travels throughout France (and I daresay Europe), this absolutely topped the list. There are plenty of places with a fairytale setting, and the one here is even more amazing than photos can capture. But what made this truly unforgettable was that William and Jane became our family away from home. Luxury accommodation like this could easily... More

We stayed 2 nights at Le Chatenet on our way down to Les Eyzies. We were given the Junior Suite Pigeonnier, which is located in the original tower at the gate of the castel. It has a separate entrance and a beautiful bathroom. All together the room (s) are comfortable and cozy. William and Jane were wonderful hosts. After a... More

My friend & I were in Brantome for a wedding and we just had the most incredible stay at the stunning Le Chatenet! Feel so lucky to have stayed here. A beautiful peaceful and immaculate sanctuary. We had a much needed rest and were spoilt rotten by the wonderful owners William & Jane who literally looked after us as if... More

I just LOVED staying at Le Chatenent!! We stayed for 3 nights and when we left, I felt like I was leaving a part of my heart in Brantome and in this beautiful house. The house is so special ....the lovely wooden floors, the old fireplace, the patio/terrace, the elegant interiors, the garden. Our room was lovely....a big bed and... More

We arrived one very hot afternoon, having done grand-parent duty for 2 weeks. We were welcomed by William & Jane with a cool glass of 'citron pressé' & shown to our suite, which was spotless, cool & had a lovely view down the valley to Brantôme. The en-suite was equally well appointed. Evening meals were great with many different flavours... More

We had booked a junior suite and were disappointed to see that this consisted of a small entrance hallway (into which the owners had put a couple of chairs), a flight of stairs up to a bathroom and then a corridor and more stairs to a bedroom. The trouble with this configuration is that you would never sit in that... More

Had I but read the TA reviews of le Chatenet before going, none of what follows would have surprised me. But I didn't, and it did. Some of what the place and experience offers is wonderful, but much is not. Upsides: a wonderful house, and with some great features if you can get to use them: tennis court, clubhouse, swimming... William Laxton: host of La Chatenet. Humble, TALENTED, creative, informative, accommodative, responsive, helpful and kind. Jane: wife of William: warm, thoughtful, caring, genuine, loving, and attentive. My partner and I stayed in the very comfortable and spacey Junior Suite Pigeonier room that has an upstairs private entrance and extra large bathroom. Greeted by Jane upon arrival. Jane kindly planned our... More

Fanstastic hospitality, stunning setting and food to die for! (William, your cooking inspired me and I am now the proud owner of 4 Greek Basil plants - I am still telling my friends about all the wonderful dishes you made). Thank you both for making our stay so wonderful. With lots of love from Lynn, Mo and Kameran xxx
