Brittany was not enjoying summer weather in July; not for nothing is its name similar to Britain. It is a quiet seaside resort, but braving the beach was not for us. We had a delightful lunch in the restaurant of the Hotel Kastel. If we came to Brittany again we'd certainly want to stay.

We stayed for one night before checking into our holiday rental. The area is beautiful with a lovely clean beach, plenty of cafes and restaurants and good walks along the coast. We stayed in a lovely room with a great view of the beach and sea. The staff were friendly and breakfast was delicious with loads of healthy options alongside... More

We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights overlapping "the Belle Plaisance" days (this year from June 26 till June 29). This is a sailing event in Bénodet and includes a competition for older - wooden sailing boats too. Nice to watch the yachts leaving and entering the harbour and very relaxing to look at late afternoon with a nice... More

The location and views are superb. The staff are most helpful and courteous, and sorted out problems when asked. Excellent breakfast. No TV channels other than in French: e.g. no international news - CNBC, BBC etc. Tea/coffee making facilities very poor: no milk - had to purchase from supermarket; kettle lead too short so has to go on floor -... The Kastel is a great hotel with beautiful and spacious rooms with a great seaview (room 102). The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. All the members of the staff are very friendly and helpfull. The breakfeastbuffet is very good and the meals in the restaurant are also good at a decent price. Another reason to choose this hotel... Or maybe more than small flaws, depending on your point of view. The Hotel Kastel might have gotten another star from us if it were not for the fact that the shower in our room only intermittenly had hot water! In fact it never got hotter than a bit more than lukewarm. We were on the next to top floor... More

Having reserved a Jnr Suite, I arrived tHinking I had booked the best room in the place. However, these rooms are on the top floor and have two bedrooms but no opening doors / balconies. Facing the Benodet plage, Kastel is a newly renovated hotel with a really good taste. We had the family room / suite on the fourth floor. Two separate rooms, one with double bed, one with twin beds, a bathroom, a toilet and a small washing room. Although we didn't have a balcony we didn't really miss it. The sea view... More

Once again a very nice, but this time i am just being a bit picky for staying at a 3 star hotel. This year we had a corner room with double aspect french doors on to the very small ( ideal for slim jims' ) but still very nice; The room was very warm and we felt a little uncomorfatble... More

“Sea view rooms are great for views and the road is not too noisy.”

“We had choosen the 3rd floor to limit street noise somewhat and to have a nicer ocean view. Yet, be carefull when you ask for rooms on the 3rd floor. The elevator does not stop at this level. You need to leave on 2nd or 4th floor and do some stairs. Also, for people with some mobility constraints it is important to know that you need to take some 5 steps of a stair before being able to enter the elevator. The hotel has a suite, but this is on the 4th floor under the roof and since there is no airco you better consider this in summer period.”
