The often contradictory comments on Tripadvisor are perfectly understandable. We chose this hotel based on it being mentioned in the 2013 book of romantik hotels. After our stay, I found out that the hotel is no longer listed in the meantime. Not surprisingly: this must have been a fantastic hotel but it is showing its age a little too much....

We chose to stay here based on the TA reviews of L'Horizon being a typical French inn. We were using Thionville as our base to explore the Maginot Line, Luxemburg and Bastogne. For this, it is IDEAL. The owners of the hotel are welcoming and extremely helpful. They even opened the bar for us on our return from a harrowing...

We recently stayed for two nights on a road trip. We could not fault the warm welcome and our room which was on the top floor was comfortable if a little dated and suffered from a strange smell in the bathroom. What was disappointing was the very high restaurant and breakfast prices. We were the only people dining. The quality was...

On arrival at this hotel we were greeted by a member of the owners family, who showed us to our room which was beautifully decorated and furnished and had a superb bathroom. We were assisted by the owners in planning a visit to the Hackenberg fortress. We had booked to have our evening meal at the hotel but if I...

I stayed at Hotel L'Horizon just outside of Thionville for two nights in June. Our group occupied most of the rooms. This was my second stay here and I would return again without hesitation. Jean Pascal and his wife Anne-Marie went out of their way to make our stay special. The hospitality is warm and the food is fantastic! As...

We recently stayed at L'Horizon as a group of five retired army officers, visiting the Maginot Line. Jean Pascal and Ann-Marie Speck were just lovely, and absolutely made the trip. The hotel was charming, comfortable and well appointed. The rooms are nicely furnished and the bathrooms are considerably better than many French hotels. Ann-Marie looked after us with kindness and...

This Inn was a wonderful experience for us. Largely because of the gracious and generous hosts Jean Pascal and Anne-Marie Speck. The hotel is well situated for touring the Maginot line and Verdun. Jean Pascal is an expert on this area. His help alone is worth staying there if this is of interest to you. The hotel is delightful, the...

Having visited there in 2004, I wanted to revisit with my daughters as a base to see where my Dad (and their Grandfather) fought in WW2. The hotel was wonderful. Jean Pascal and Anne-Marie Speck were wonderful hosts - the rooms were well-appointed and very comfortable. I highly recommend a stay here. The only reason I didn't give it an...

Very warm welcome, very good service, big room, villeroi & boch bathroom. Beautifull view on the city. Cosy bar, also with a beautifull view. They have a sunny and shady terrace with nice trees and again: the spectacular view.
