This was our second visit and it was as good as the first if not better. A fairytale like scenery, cozy, decorated with taste and very welcoming countryside cottage with a gourmet dinner being the cherry on top. Mark and Clare are are very kind and attentive hosts! Highly recommend this little treasure and we look forward to being back again soon! Victoria
My partner and I had the pleasure of staying with Mark & Clare for a few days in September. We spent two weeks in France which also covered the South of France and our time at La Metairie des Songes was the biggest highlight of our entire trip! From the moment we arrived until the day we left we couldn’t have felt more looked after- the rooms are immaculate and beautifully designed. Not only were we spoilt by this, the food was by far the best we had tasted across all of France. My partner and I have been lucky enough to eat at a number of Michelin starred restaurants, and La Metairie des Songes is better than some we’ve visited. I cannot say enough words to describe how utterly amazing the food is here. Mark and Clare go above and beyond to give their guests something that’s truly special. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back again! If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax and enjoy food that will take your breath away, don’t hesitate to book. I want all our loved ones to visit so they can also experience what we did. Thank you again Mark and Clare!…
Welcoming, informal and truely worthy of 5 stars in every aspect. Tranquil surroundings, amazing host’s, spacious & beautifully decorated rooms. You’re really made to feel at home. The food is without doubt the best we had on our 10 day road trip around France and stood head and shoulders above any of the Michelin meals we experienced. Clare and Mark’s hard work daily is evident in the hospitality and food they provide. The breakfast didn’t escape Clare & Mark’s attention to detail and was a true masterclass in Hospitality start to finish. Thank you & and already planning our second visit.
Where should I start? Stunning location, charming home, perfect hosts and fantastic value for money. The food deserves a separate review - possibly in the Michelin guide. Following an absolutely superb evening meal, we wondered how Clare and Mark could make breakfast interesting. We soon found out, not just tasty and filling fare but so artistically presented. We look forward to returning and introducing friends to this hidden little gem.
Our third visit to Clare and Marks arranged as soon as we could see our way to travelling abroad again. We stayed three nights and had wonderful food each night. Truly gourmet food in beautiful relaxed surroundings. Despite it being September we managed to eat out every evening, supping as the sun went down. Their bookings even worked out such that we had the place to ourselves one evening and so Mark cooked for just us - a privilege! The al fresco breakfasts in the Dordogne sunshine were also superb. Our room was lovely with great facilities and a good fan to keep us cool. Just as good as we remembered it and one of the highlights of our trip (again). Thank you Mark and Clare.
