We arrived at rush hour, drove past the gate and had a little difficulty to turn round on that street and to get back on the correct side to approach again. But we drove in to ample parking, a smiling welcome and a VERY pleasant stay. The room was comfortable, clean, well proportioned and thoughtfully hot as it was cold...

Our visit to Valenciennes was to attend the funeral of a family member, so our raison de voyage was anything but joyous. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by the owner Philippe, who offered us refreshments and then showed us our rooms and assisted us by carriying up some of our luggage. The rooms are spacious exceptionally well appointed, with...

A B&B as it should be. Very nice place, kind host and good breakfast. Bedrooms are large and comfortable, clean (new towels and bed linen every day) and very quiet, so good a night-rest is guaranteed. Location is perfect, tramway's drive to city centre is 5 minutes and is next to the B&B. Your car is safe in the private,...

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were going to a football match in Lens. The owner Philippe is a gifted man. He paints and is an interior decorator. His work can be seen through out the house. I didn't meet the cat but the dog was lovely and friendly. The rooms are great. I would recommend this hotel...

Last year we booked at Le Grand Duc, with the intention of using it as a base to cover our interest in the great war. It was not only the most interesting place we have ever stayed at, our host, Philippe was fantastic and made us feel most welcome. He went out of his way to engage with us and...

We booked Le Grand Duc as we were going to watch a game at the Euro football in Lens. Valenciennes is a lovely town and the hotel was a short walk to the railway station which took us direct to Lens. Phillippe the owner was lovely and explained where the station was and where to eat in the town. Our...

We had a lovely short visit (in transit) to this exquisite hotel in Valenciennes. The owner Philippe was a perfect host, welcoming, attentive, providing good answers to our questions and offering solutions without pushing too hard. In addition to the stay, we had asked for dinner to be provided, and we enjoyed a superb meal starting in the garden before...
