We had a lovely holiday here (despite the weather not being the best!) We booked with Homair and had a very good experience. Our mobile home was very clean and fresh on arrival and had the best facilities we have ever had in a mobile home - it was a Comfort XL Relax. The children loved the little trolley which they could ride in! The mobile was also in a quiet, spacious cul de sac, which was great with young children, and had a very good terrace. We found the staff at all times to be very friendly and helpful (a special shout out to Maeve!) and they added to the happy, relaxed atmosphere on site. The site itself is very clean and well managed. I can see what people mean about the surface around the main swimming pool but we had no problems with it. It was really good having the Super U so close and there were several restaurants within a couple of minutes walk too as well as a very good bakery. There were convenient bus stops a couple of minutes from the site for St Jean de Monts and St Gilles Croix de Vie. Our grandchildren are three years old and two years old and they loved the mini discos in the early evening. These were well attended and we felt that it would be good to have had these a bit more frequently perhaps. The entertainment in general was reasonably varied and well attended and both French and English were used throughout so that it could be widely accessed. The animation team show was really good - much better than we had anticipated! The food at the Takeaway did let things down a bit - limited options, over priced and not great quality. All in all a lovely holiday and we would return.

We visited this campsite in late June, which is still in a quiet season, going by how quiet towns and beaches are here just now. I’ve visited many campsites across the coast, and this one compares well in terms of cleanliness and facilities (good pools, play parks, well spaced out).
We stayed with Canvas in a Moda 3bed with air conn. Clean and well stocked, we hired linen which was 2 sheets, pillow case and towels. There is a duvet as well on each bed, but doesn’t get a duvet cover as part of the linen.
Marvilla have recently taken over, as far as I can make out, and I think going by the reviews and my experience that this has impacted on prices in the bar, takeaway food prices and entertainment. Entertainment for us (family of 4 (7 and 4)) was limited, the kids entertainment was half an hour in the evening with Homy, the mascot and was geared more towards French kids, in my view. The staff numbers were increasing throughout our stay, which was positive as means that service was getting quicker. Lots of rules by the pool, I didn’t mind the no food one so much as it kept the place clean, however lots and lots of beds being reserved with towels in the morning making them unavailable and despite all the other rules, this one seems to pass without intervention.
We found st Jean de monts quiet, and shops don’t tend to open until 2pm, and food service being from 730pm, unless you want fast food (I’m sure this changes from July however).
One recommendation I’d make to site would be to encourage more recycling by having more bins accessible on site, and not just at the exit gates.
Overall, our young kids enjoyed their first camping holiday, loads for them to do on site, and we felt they were safe at the park and kids pool, meaning their independence and confidence increased.
Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Just back from a fantastic 2 weeks stay @ Le Clarys Plage having booked through Eurocamp. From start to finish we couldn’t have asked for better service. The booking was simple and quick and they were able to answer any questions we had about location, amenities and the overall area. We stayed in a 3 bed azure plus ( 2 adults & 2 children ) and location on site was perfect and close to pool and entertainment. The mobile home was very well equipped and had a full size fridge / freezer and dishwasher but the plus for us was the oven, made lunches easier and overall a very spacious mobile with outdoor seating etc and gas bbq. . We meet Jessica from Eurocamp on arrival and she was more than helpful throughout our stay. This campsite was walking distance from beach , well worth the early morning walks , supermarket only a few mins walk away and we hired bikes which to our surprise were much cheaper than Spain and Italy. Will definitely return and recommend booking via Eurocamp.

We had two weeks here and snuck it in before the quarantine announcement, which was great. We had a Comfort Vista, which had three bedrooms and a very large deck. We brought our own sheets and felt very cosy and right at home. The beds were comfy although when it got into the 30's was very hot. Mostly temps were in the 20's when we were there by I can imagine two weeks in the 30's would be stifling. The kitchen was great and had all needed to cook and the large U supermarket with a special access to the site was great and we went everyday, sometimes twice. It has everything and all the food you would ever want. Everything in France tastes good! The pool was crowded at times and needed to be there at 10 for sunbeds but beach is only 500m away. Best part about the Vendee for kids is all the activities. We did horse back riding just up the road, went to the Feeling Forest for zip wires, hired bikes just next door for beautiful cycling around the area, did Quad biking and went to Atlantic Tobaggon waterpark twice. We didn't eat outside the ground once and enjoyed the pizzas from La Cuisine when we didn't cook ourselves. The bar was great, if a bit pricey. The ice cream was amazing. Face masks indoors, but we were hardly indoors only to get beers and ice cream and once sat down you can take them off. The Wifi is awful here but we had a fantastic holiday!

We booked a ‘luxury camping holiday’ with Roan in a ‘Premium’ range. Sadly I took these words at face value and should have done a lot more research. “Luxury” and “premium” meaning that you provide your own bed linen (or £70 extra for theirs), the mattresses are squeaky plastic, pillows wafer thin and you clean the caravan from top to bottom before vacating by 10am. A hot shower is also not included, as the van’s tiny boiler isn’t able to produce anything more than tepid, and woe betide any family member who dares to flush the toilet or run the dishwasher at the same time!! We are new to this type of holiday, and perhaps expecting hot water and room cleaning is too much.

The site is tired and run down, appears to be 2 small sites cobbled together. Swimming pool faded, flooring dangerous as others have said.

Despite having St Jean de Monts in the advertising on the website, it is over an hour’s walk away to St J d M, although there is a beach within a 10-15 min walk.

Outdoor play areas are good, although not much to do for teenagers, would suit young primary age families better.

Had 1 week with Alfresco holidays. Stayed in a Da Vinci which had 3 bedrooms, seperate toilet and shower and kitchen. All of us found sleeping difficult as very hot during the night. The site was busier than we expected and therefoe the pool areas to busy to feel safe in during these times of covid. We did use the quieter pool twice on quieter occasions. Bar area is nice and clean and staff all friendly and pleasant. They make sure you are wearing a mask when moving around inside. We used the takeaway on site mostly for ease and the food here was good and the process of ordering and been given a buzzer to tell you when your food was ready is great. Great supermarket right next to the complex selling everthing you need at good prices.

Do not get your hopes up, we were really disappointed with the service and entertainment was pretty much non existent past 8pm. It’s a really nice place and accommodation is lovely but unfortunately we will not be back. We had heard so much good things about this place but new management have taken over and the place has gone down hill since then. There are long queues at the bar and staff were rude and don’t seem to enjoy working there, with the exception of Constance who was very pleasant and really nice to the kids. I witnessed the manager calling one lady customer an ass*hole in French, little did he know I understood fully what he had said. Bar closes at 11pm and don’t bother asking for a gin and tonic past 9.30pm as apparently it’s a cocktail and cocktail bar closes early. Kids refused to go to kids club after going twice as said it was too boring. Pool was fab but lifeguards spent more time giving out to kids and adults than watching what was going on in the pool. Playground was great but again security guards were more like prison guards with no training in customer service or how to speak to children.

I will start with the positives..... site is lovely, clean and well kept. Mobiles are lovely, clean and modern. Site has great playground and two pools. 5 minute walk to the beach. We are just back from a two week stay here. It is not good for children of any age that do not speak French. All the kids clubs, evening entertainment for adults or children is all done in French. After 2 days the children in our group no longer wanted to go to kids club, that was even if you could get them in. Even though there is 599 mobiles on site they cap kids club at 50 so children are turned away for kids club and activities in the evening if they reach capacity. Very sad to see children crying on their holidays because they are turned away from a chocolate party because the staff can not facilitate the number of children on site. They have very little for young children there was a bubble and water party for toddlers while we were there and it consisted of 1 tube of €2 bubbles and 4 paper cups with water on a table. Not great!!
The big pool with the slides etc has very very little loungers people begin queuing at 9.20 for the 10am opening of the pool. You need 1 to 1 in this pool with children as it is so packed it is like a sea of people. Very hard to watch the children we stopped going there in the end due to safety reasons. They could definitely do with at least 2 more pools on site. 6 washings machines on site for 599 mobiles have to queue constantly to wash or come back throughout the day to see if a machine is free. The bar service is absolutely ridiculous the staff seem like they do not want to work they just stand behind the counter 4 or 5 of them talking while one person serves a big huge queue. Prices in the bar are also very expensive between 8.50 to 9.50 for a pint of beer or cider.Same with the take away there is only 1 on site, no restaurants and can be waiting a very long time for food. Do not go with hungry children because you will be waiting. We were lucky we went in a very large group so the children had each other to entertain themselves without going to any activities on site. I know clarys plage was a great site a few years ago from all the positive reviews but since change of ownership it has made a turn for the worse. I might add in all my years of travel this is the first ever review I have ever left!

Having stayed here pre Covid and we were all so excited to visit again. The site is clean but and they pool is fun but not child friendly anymore. Lifeguards don’t really care adults are using kids slides. The kids camps are not run by eurocamp anymore which is a disaster. They are run by the Marvilla group and unless your child has amazing French don’t bother as most of it is done through French. A few of the days the kids learn dance moves ALL day to entertain parents for 20 minutes in the evening. The ‘entertainment’ if you would call is shockingly bad. Again run by Marvilla who either put on a ‘show’ or bring entertainment in. They have moved the entertainment from inside the bar to outside. It starts too late and because it’s right beside a lot of campers don’t expect an early night. If you see the Marvilla entertainment crew putting on a dance routine don’t bother! Go for a nice walk instead. Hey he pool is excellent but the entertainment crew will block off sections at a time, usually the kid friendly parts so they can run games. It’s an absolute joke. They stop kids from swimming in the warmest pool and take areas of the kids dragon splash park so they can play games with teenagers.
The playground is dangerous, so far we’ve seen one poor lad needing stables in his head and another with a fresh cast on his arm.
The bar staff are rude, arrogant and pretty poor all round.
I don’t know what’s happened here, the last time we were here we couldn’t wait to return, now we can’t wait to leave. Having gone to eurocamps since I was a kid 30+ years ago this is the worst run site I’ve ever been on. Chatting to a lot of other Irish and English families who has been here previously they are saying the same as me.
From what we can gather Marvilla won’t let Eurocamp run the kids camps, which is a disgrace because Marvilla entertainment crew haven’t a clue what they are doing!

Eurocamp need to step in a put proper kids camps in place or it will bring their reputation down drastically. They do not clearly state on the website they don’t run the camps, which is very misleading.

Marvilla Need to realise that it isn’t working. The pool is unsafe, lifeguards seem disinterested in following any of the rules up around the pool. The playground is a disaster zone, unless you want to spend 6 hours or so in A&E.

Definitely will not be back and would recommend you go elsewhere. Also check if you book with eurocamp for somewhere else that they run the camps.

Brilliant safe clean park. Check in was quick with vanselect however the rep had no English which really was bizarre seeing as the camp is like 90% Irish holidaymakers.

The cabin was lovely, bright, clean and well spaced out between the other cabins. It was a moda with air con, So so much for the children to do and the animation team are very nice and work very hard and there’s always something on. I liked that the entertainment was mixed, as in the mini disco was at different times different days, so you weren’t stuck to racing back for the mini disco every night like you have to in other places. They had a pink party that was really cool. My baby was obsessed with the mascot Homy, very cute. They thought of everything!

The first night we tried to order pizza but the angry chef had a fight with a fellow staff member and walked out screaming and shouting. No pizza for us! he came back 15 minutes later but we had already got different food we didn’t even want. Ridiculous behaviour which I hope was dealt with.

Only problem was the sun lounger situation. We left the pool for only 10 minutes and our towels and belongings were removed. This happened again while I was at the bar luckily I seen them this time and had to run over to stop them (literally grabbing my phone, tablet etc and putting them in my bag, a bit much!!). Yet one day the people beside us never showed whatsoever for the 4 hours we were there and their towels were not touched?? They really need to have a different procedure in place for fair monitoring of the sunbeds. This, also along with not being permitted to eat food/drink by the pool is why I only gave 4 stars. (You also cannot wear footwear by the pool, yet the lifeguard does. The ground is lumpy and uneven and I stubbed my toes twice. This policy does not make sense.)

We loved the freedom and safety for the kids to enjoy the area independently. The que for the bar is so so long we just gave up and brought our own bottle of wine down in the evening.

Playgrounds etc are brilliant and so clean. Everything flows so well and we would return as the positives outweigh the negatives and the kids just loved it!
