Just returned from a fab stay at Hotel Le Dome. The hotel was a great find, near the slopes for skiing, almost ski to door, weather permitting and a 2 minute walk to bus stop if needed. The bedrooms were clean, warm and comfortable, plenty of storage, comfy beds and powerful shower. We opted for half board and each night enjoyed delicious meals, along with the 5/6 course Christmas dinner, and the cheese fondue was one of the best every experienced. Each morning we were offered a choice of eggs for breakfast along with cereals, yogurts, breads and croissants, plenty to set you up for a days skiing. There is a lounge downstairs with a bar which is great for relaxing in the evening. There is a large ski and boot room on the ground floor. The staff were great and added a very personal touch to the stay.

Stayed for a week and never felt so welcomed. The staff were superb and highly entertaining. They always had a smile on their faces and from Fergus to Bobby, Elliot to Loz, Dan to Amy, the service, food, and hotel was great.
The rooms were cosy but have everything you need. Location is great for families too.
Value was superb.

Family of 4 with 2 good and 2 intermediate skiers. Spent a week in Tignes at Le Dome over Christmas. Lack of snow meant wasn't ski in/out but bus service from 100m to lifts was brilliantly efficient every day. Just 60% of lifts and slopes open but skiing area (whole area pass) meant there was loads of skiing available. The only downside was no access by ski to village level in Val D'isere. The chalet was very comfortable, the food was plentiful and of very good quality. The afternoon teas at 4pm on return from skiing especially welcome. The staff were all friendly and attentive. All in all very little to fault. Would recommend.
Currently snowed in on return home as up to 50cm of snow falling. Next week's visitors will have great snow and be ski in/out.

The rooms were fine well decorated but the rooms were far to warm at night so either had to get the freezing air to come in or sleep without a duvet. The showers were pretty awful and the plugs didn't work. The staff were good, there was an English bar maid who was very nice and brought loads of charm but the man en charge of the bar was stressed and being a bit rude. When we wanted to put so music on he said no and rolled his eyes while still wanting to watch lumber jacking! The food was OK, every night you had soup where either OK or a bit disgusting. They gave us a lot to eat like a whole huge bowl of soup and a big main meal which was normally OK again! After you don't finish these two meals they kind of roll their eyes and take it personally. There also wasn't any service for vegetarians it was just a salad and cheese. The downstairs living area was good they had poker and stuff so we could play games but we had to either leave to go to another place or go to sleep as their licence only went on to 11 o clock and maybe even earlier if the staff were all grumpy. That sucked a lot. When i was sick for the day they were being quite rude, i had put the Do Not disturb sign and the cleaner came in 'GET PUT OF HERE I NEED TO CLEAN NOW'.The resort was very good just the hotel was quite bad if you want to go to this resort you should go to CGH. La Marais or la kazzelas just not really this place. Sorry Audery and Christian if your seeing this

This is an Inghams chalet that is new to them this season. Don't be misled by the Inghams brochure which says that les Boisses is connected to le Lac or Val Claret by ski bus that runs regularly until midnight. This is certainly not the case in early December when there was just one ski bus up at 9.15am and one back at 4.15pm. You can ski over to the main Tignes ski area but the week we were there the lifts out of les Boisses and Les Brevieres didn't start running until 10am and 11am on a number of days. If you wanted to get in a decent day's skiing this meant that you had to use a bus to get you up to the main part of Tignes. The 9.15 bus was always packed full when it arrived at Les Boisses resulting in a very unpleasant journey standing up in ski boots. Because of the early season problems Inghams did run a shuttle at 9.45am, if requested, and we took advantage of this to avoid the crowded ski bus and the uncertainty over when the lifts were actually going to start running out of the area we were staying.

This is a ski in ski out location but only if the lifts are running and the return runs are open. The problem with the lifts and buses meant your freedom and flexibility was taken away as you were always having to plan ahead.

The chalet is located in a very quiet part of Tignes - no local shops, bars, nightlife or ski hire shops. Absolutely nothing there!! No atmosphere whatsoever. I have stayed in other parts of the Tignes area but would not care to stay in Les Boisses again.

On the plus side the staff were friendly and we couldn't fault the daily cleaning of the rooms. The breakfasts were ok as long as you avoided the under cooked porridge. The evening meals were average but spoiled sometimes when the main course was cold on arrival.

I don't know what the other rooms were like but ours was tiny and miserable. It was described as a double but was only big enough to take a single bed and even then there wouldn't be a lot of room.

If you go to Tignes then I suggest you avoid this location. If you want the freedom of waking up in the morning and then deciding where you want to go and when then either stay at Le lac or Val Claret.

We have just came back from a week at Le Dome. Although the hotel is a little tired it was more than compensated by the fantastic Ighams team, led by Will and Steph. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent, we met some great people and the skiing was good, with the piste only 100 metres away.

It did not bother us that the location was quiet because of the atmosphere and the company.

Spent week 25/2 -4/3/17 at the Dome. We have been on several ski holidays and the Dome was a very pleasant surprise in exceeding our expectations. Just a minute to walk to the piste. Staff were incredibly friendly and hard working. Rooms were basic but clean, comfortable and very adequate. The meals were a highlight, superbly cooked varied menu, with soup and cakes in the afternoon after skiing. Breakfast always had a cooked option. The atmosphere in the hotel was lively and warm. The evening meal was preceded by canapés for all. So as we all sat down to dinner it was all very convivial , even when the smoke alarm went off in the kitchen and we had to assemble in the blizzard outside!! Piste packed lunches were available to purchase for those long ski days. The pistes around the hotel were not well groomed during our stay which was a disappointment but the smart hospitality at the Dome more than made up for this.

We have skied for many years and have stayed in chalets, hotels and chalet hotels. This chalet hotel has been mis-sold as a 3 star by Inghams. It is only 2 at best, nothing like the photos in brochure and on the Internet! In fact there is a sign on the hotel only showing 2 stars. On our last day we peeked in room no. 6 which is clearly the one they took a photo of. One couple in our group paid extra for a superior room but all that included was a balcony that you couldn't stand on and some prettier linen. Like previous comments, there is a lack of bedroom furniture.
It is very basic and is in desperate need of a refurbishment and some TLC. The staff do their best and are extremely helpful but it is so cold sometimes that you need to wear your thermals just to eat your dinner. The rooms are small and ill-equipped. Really tiny bathrooms, no good if you are 6ft! Just cheap ill-fitted showers that flood and the water doesn't run away.
Small, really low down beds. Iglu/Inghams said they had booked us double beds but there aren't any in the whole hotel. Our room stank of cigarette smoke and mould/must. The manager had to put in air fresheners and left a bouquet of flowers.
it reminded me of an old French Formula 1 motorway lodge.
Thank goodness the food is ok! The desserts were very good. When the chef got in a muddle with our order at least the manager gave us a free drink.
BTW it is a steep slope back to the hotel even if it is marked as a blue and obviously it got worse as the week went on due to lack of snow!

Response from Inghams_1934, Guest Relations Manager at Hotel Le Dome
Responded 30 Mar 2016
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent holiday at the Chalet Hotel Le Dome, PurpleBrolly. It's disappointing that your experience was not commensurate with your expectations. The Chalet Hotel Le Dome is rated by Inghams as a 3 'diamond' property, in the absence of an official rating for Chalet Hotel accommodation, which cannot be directly compared with hotel 'star' rating systems. We do describe all rooms as twins on the website and regret that this was not your expectation. Balconies are charged at a supplement (i.e. those capable of offering triple/quad capacity), but will otherwise be similarly decorated. Your comments regarding refurbishment needs have been noted and referred to the overseas senior management team. All of our chalet and Chalet Hotel properties are non-smoking, so it's concerning that you have noted a smoky/musty smell which the Chalet Hotel Manager has noted and has endeavoured to address. We're sorry that the air fresheners offered did little to alleviate the issue during your own stay. We work closely with property owners to address maintenance and refurbishment needs during the season where possible, though some may require greater attention and thus will be looked into once the season has ended. We're pleased that overall our staff contributed to your holiday enjoyment and hope that we'll have the pleasure of welcoming you back with Inghams again.

Upon arrival , first impressions were not good as the place looked run down. However, this became less important when we started to interact with the staff. The welcome was warm and the offer was made to take our luggage to the room. We declined but did struggle to get the suitcases up two flights of stairs. There are three floors but no lift. We stayed in room 9 and again first impressions were not good as the room was very small. The photo shows the whole room taken from outside on the balcony. You can see the door at the back which leads to the corridor. The bathroom is behind the twin beds. It is the sort of room where you have to shuffle past each other and when you have the bathroom door open it divides the room in two. The shower worked well but the shower curtain was disappointing and ineffective meaning that a towel had to be used to dry the floor. There was also no working extractor fan meaning condensation ran down the tiled walls. However, the bathroom was clean and functional. Most people would probably think the bathroom is ok for a skiing holiday. Although the single radiator in the main room never seemed to be hot the room was warm enough for us. Be warned that there is no hanging space in the wardrobe, just shelving. The only hooks were in the bathroom and on the side of the wardrobe. From discussions with other guests it is clear that all the rooms are different sizes and have pros and cons. Some rooms seem warmer than others.
There is a small bar and lounge on the ground floor with a log burning fire. The eating area is through an open doorway and is basic. The chef was very good and it is probably fair to say that the food is the highlight of this hotel. Breakfast consisted of fruit juices, cereals, fruit and yoghurt, pastries, bread and cold meat with cheese. There was also a full English on offer each day apart from the staff's day off. You helped yourself to as much tea and coffee as you liked. The choice of evening meal was good and always well cooked and complimentary wine was provided. Afternoon tea was a very pleasant surprise with soup, cake or biscuits available together with a savoury option such as a sandwich or baked potato and hot drinks.

The hotel is located well for experienced skiers but not beginners. The ski lifts are not as close as advertised but this isn't a problem as you can ski from the door if conditions are right and also back to the hotel afterwards. The nearest slope is about 100m away and you can ski down to a choice of three lifts.

The chalet hotel staff were very good and always approachable with a friendly smile on offer. They do very well with the resources they have at their disposal. Although free WiFi is available do not rely on an internet connection. It is hit and miss.

Overall this hotel represents very good value for money but do not expect luxury accommodation. We would happily stay again.

HeybeckBulls it's wonderful to learn that, despite first impressions of the Chalet Hotel Le Dome, the wonderful service and hospitality from the Inghams team throughout the week ensured that you thoroughly enjoyed your holiday with us. We do work hard with our maintenance teams and property owners to keep our featured properties in good conditions, with daily upkeep managed by the hotel team, and we've taken on board your comments. We hope that we will indeed be welcoming you again. The Inghams team

Hi, we are a party of 14, all adults plus 2 smalls! we have just got back home this afternoon from our skiing holiday at the Dome. The chalet was traditionally french, but very warm and cosy. it was a typical chalet style that you find in the alps with all the decor that you would expect.
it is set in a small area which is 10 mins by bus from Le Lac in Tignes. there was a small spar shop and a bar/restaurant within 5 minutes walk. the location is peaceful and picturesque.
the chalet staff are amazing, from Vicki who was friendly and approachable at all times, but kept herself professional, through to Jamie, Ed Louie and some of the others whose names escape me now. all staff were chatty and knowledgeable. the staff were also really flexible with a fussy teenage eater. the small kids ate at Tea time, and they were also given coloring to do whilst waiting for the tea. there little pictures were then put on the wall every day for the week. this was such a lovely touch.
the food was the best we have ever had in 10 years of chalet holidays. amazing Irish guy and his assistant Joe who were amazing in their presentation and efforts in all the food.
the chalet was a ski in ski out chalet so this was really good for our group but as a total beginner you may struggle with this. however you can always catch the bubble, if this is the case. 3.5 hour transfer on the way up but seemed shorter on the way home for some reason.

all in all , a fab time and a really lovely place to stay.

well done Inghams and Le Dome.xx
