We (family of 5 people, double rooms 9,6 and single 14) stayed for 14 days from 28th December 2019 till 12th January 2020. The hotel is perfect for almost all types of voyagers and suits all the goals of vacations.
1) Rooms
All the rooms are spacious and super light. You will have enough space in the cupboard for your stuff, and after skiing, it's easy to dry them on the balcony. The only small disadvantage is weak hangers - the can't handle heavy ski equipment.
The bed is extremely comfortable and wide. The room service works every day and change the floor towel every time.
2) Food
Buffet breakfast was almost the same every day but quite diverse - VERY GOOD coffee/cacao/milk/juice for drinks and cereals/boiled eggs/cheese/ham/bread/yogurt for food.
Our family really enjoyed dinners at this hotel because every day it was extremely tasty, the dishes didn't repeat even once for 14 days! The New Year dinner was delicious and even a little bit fancy. We are in love with the chef.
3) Service
The best thing about this hotel is the people who work there.
The whole staff speaks excellent English, but for those who want to practice French, everyone is ready to speak a little slower and more clearly. Every evening we went down from our rooms and talked with each other about everything in the world. Service does not look like a classic treating you as clients — you are more likely to be guests in their house, whom they are very pleased to see. The vacations would not be so perfect without them. Thank you so much!

This hotel was the perfect location. Virtually on top of a ski lift and you can also ski down to the other lifts. No walking in ski boots carrying skis.
Food was good and staff were friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

We were there on the last week before the shut down of the French alps (due to Corona Virus) and even though this was hanging over the owners and staff they were still polite and helpful.

I hope they get through this and we wish them the best.

We had a tremendous weeks skiing based at the Hotel Vanoise. Sebastian, Paul and Carolyn were brilliant hosts who couldn’t do enough for us from help with parking, ski passes, late checkin, evening meal during the week although we only booked bed and breakfast. I can’t believe I’ve been to Val Claret so many times over 15 or more years and never stated here. We’ll be back and look forward to seeing Sebastian, Paul and Carolyn again soon! Merci!

Absolutely first class experience in this hotel. Staff/Management are incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfy and spacious and food was very enjoyable. Hotel is perfectly situated at the foot of Tuffs chair life and easy acces to bars/restaurants in Val Claret. We highly recommend this place.

I worked in Tignes in the 2011/12 season and with a lot of the hotels in Tignes VC and Le Lac. This hotel was the only place that received zero negative feedback from the British guests. Not a bad word was said and that was in no small part thanks to Sebastien and his team. The customer service is excellent. When friends ask about staying in Tignes this is where I send them. Sadly I haven't been back recently but I believe Seb is now the owner of the hotel so I can only imagine it has got better and better under the new management.
Yes there are nicer, bigger, brighter, newer and more luxurious hotels but if you want to feel at home and cared for and be positioned in the number one spot for access to the whole Espace Killy then this is where you should stay.

Our destination is Tignes Val Claret to this rustic, small family hotel, the Hotel de la Vanoise, half board, and did we luck out! The Hotel is owned and managed by very attentive relaxed hosts, Sebastian, Caroline Paul (bro), own it and run it ! They do everything themselves, manage, clean, look after the guests. Chef is very kid friendly.

Hotel is TRUE Ski-in/Ski-out : not just to one lift, but many, it is in Tignes Val Claret and opens out to the center of the Ski Area, Tufs lift 30 ft from the door and the others you just ski to.

Cool room, small for some, perfect for us. Comfortable firm beds, clever shelving, wooden platforms over room heaters for placing wet ski apparel and gear to dry, TV there we never used, spacious balcony, glorious view. Good WiFi even in the rooms and it's free, and they are experts at the tech aspects, since WiFi hard to acquire in the area.

Next, Ski lockers in front, and boot room with hooks, the boot room is inside, the boot rack itself is not heated, boot room is warm. Hotel is classified 2* as per the owners, I don’t sweat that stuff, but the creature comforts were perfect for a son-father sojourn, and there were large families there with kids, with many generations in tow. There are larger rooms in the hotel. They have a nice bar, mellow, child friendly, cozy, and there is a nice living room too where kids can go and hang out and these folks have some video games and all set up. Shower pressure terrific for anyone wondering and this was the third floor.

The best for last, you get your gear, boot up, gear up indoors, and then walk out through the bar, 6-10 short steps down click in, and you are in front of the ski school gathering right there, the Tufs lift (from there ski down to Val D’Isere basically or come back to Tignes), you can ski down to the Bollin (beginners lift), Freisse (Val D’Isere ski or back to Tignes ski), Grande Motte Funicular or Les Lanches Lift upto the Grand Motte area, and Tichot (to Aiguille Percee side)lifts. This was better ski-in/ski-out access to the entire area than we have experienced anywhere else (and the list is no joke on that dimension: Oberlech, Deer Valley, Whistler-Blackcomb, Alta, Solitude, Sunshine Village). Right in front of ESF offices in the village square as well as the gathering of all the other ski schools is right outside the back door egress , ski to them. Gear stores, rentals line the town, and all within 5 minute walk from the hotel. Restaurants too.

The family who runs this place, the staff, all are gracious, friendly, with-it, on-the-ball.

The chef modified his dinner for my 12 year old. And I ate at least two bowls of his soup daily, and I cannot stand soup anywhere, so there was something awesome about the soup! Go figure. Food was nice, not fancy but very tasty.

There are larger rooms for bigger families, saw multiple generations of families here, hotel is very kid friendly. They are dog friendly too .

We stayed 8 nights, and skied 7 days straight, and we skied 6+ hours a day, 12 year old boy who brought along his Dad. The skiing, the terrain, the adventure is reported here for interested readers in an YouTube home video chronicle:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJjLPU5t88Q

Video covers Hotel, indoors and out, terrain, and the town, and way there and back.

Just returned from my honeymoon in Tignes, where my husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Vanoise.

First impressions:
We were dropped at the front of the hotel and greeted by lots of steps, but this wasn’t a problem for us at all. We were welcomed by the owner and took the lift to our rooms. We booked a superior room and some friends joined our trip and booked standard rooms, all of which were lovely. Our friends arranged with the hotel for a bottle of champagne to be in our room on arrival which was all ready in the ice bucket and ready to drink when we arrived which was such a nice touch!

Rooms:
The superior room had a little more space which we benefited from, but my friends had no problems with their standard rooms at all. The rooms were all very clean and we had a good night’s sleep every night. I suffer from motion sickness and did not feel well one evening, spending several hours hovering around the bathroom, and I can safely say their bathrooms are immaculately clean! The showers are small, but perfectly sufficient and no smaller than the many other ski hotels I have visited over the last 20 years. The linen was spotless and I felt very comfortable and warm whilst in the hotel. We had a balcony (I think perhaps all the rooms have balconies on the higher floors) where we kept our boards at night and were perfectly safe.
The bar is small but has a seating area and there's a separate lounge - we never struggled to find somewhere to sit together for a drink or two.

Location:
The location of the hotel could not be better - it's ski-in / ski-out. We visited Val Claret from 11th to 18th January and we did not have to queue for the chairlifts at all. The chairlift ‘Tufs’ is directly outside the back of the hotel (you walk through the bar with your board / skis to get there which is very convenient) and even at peak times we didn’t have to queue. So quick and easy and you only have to walk 10 paces to get to it (or ski for 2 seconds!). There’s also the option of skiing through a tunnel to reach a couple of other lifts and the Funicular, or if you are walking then there’s a very convenient elevator that can take you to the other chairlifts and bars. It’s all very convenient and easy to navigate and the staff are more than happy to help with directions and reservations at restaurants if you decide to eat elsewhere.
Both sides of the hotel have good views of the mountains, though one side (our side that overlooked the front door) was a little quieter during après ski. Though saying this, it was not a problem at all for the rooms overlooking the bars as the music from the lively bar opposite stopped before dinner, therefore not disturbing anyone.
There are a ton of bars in walking distance and I’d recommend The Caveau, Grizzly’s & La Chalet. The supermarket is a couple of minutes walk away and has everything you could possibly need. And the ski rental shop is just a minutes’ walk away – all in close proximity and you won’t find a better location of hotel.
There's also a bus service that runs all day and into the night that will take you to Tignes Le Lac and Lavechette - very convenient.

Staff:
The staff are wonderful. They’re all so friendly and I felt genuinely sad to be leaving! As it’s a small hotel you get to know the staff as you see the same faces every day. The owners recently had a baby that we occasionally saw and he was good as gold. It’s a family-run hotel and it feels that way – such a nice atmosphere. We decided to eat at a restaurant one night and let them know we would not be eating in their restaurant and they didn’t mind at all and even recommended a good restaurant for steak (La Pignatta – very nice). They were very flexible with when we wanted our rooms cleaned – one of our group was injured and stayed in her room all morning, but they just waited for her to depart for lunch before cleaning the room. We weren’t disturbed by anyone, and they were even friendly when we had to throw snowballs at the window to get the door entry code once the hotel had shut down for the night! Probably something we should’ve asked for on our arrival the first night... They made us feel very welcome and at home, and even allowed us to borrow a family room to get changed in before our flight (even though we had already checked out).

Food:
The food was great. Soup, salad, main course, dessert and cheese available every night of the week. And it wasn't ALL cheese and pasta! Some really delicious beef served one night and a spicy fish curry on another. One night we were treated to Raclette which was delicious! Also, the breakfasts were perfectly sufficient – continental style cheese and ham and cereal options, and pain au chocolat and croissants of course.
Drinks in the bar are reasonably priced (compared to everywhere else) and the house red was very nice.
Oh and definitely make sure you’re back in the hotel for cake at 5pm! Worthwhile – absolutely delicious and definitely home made.

Espace de Killy:
The ski area is phenomenal! We were lucky with the snow (though a bit of a white-out one day). The area is vast! We bought an extra half day pass for our last day which just covered the Tignes area which is more than sufficient for a beginner. For intermediate / advanced skiers and boarders I’d recommend the full area pass (which we had for the rest of the week). We covered quite a lot of the area! Val D’Iser has a few flat sections and the conditions are better for skiers (in my opinion) but worth checking out as it’s very beautiful. Tignes is perfect for snowboarding and has really wide pistes. Not sure that they’re always marked correctly, some of the blues felt like reds and some of the reds felt like blues, but this wasn't a problem for us.

All in all we had a brilliant time and I wouldn't hesitate to return to that hotel if / when we go back to Tignes. Don’t hesitate – just book it.
