With Le Refuge, you get it all: nice and clean rooms, a decent breakfast (i.e. more than a croissant and coffee) and great location close to the Toviere cabin and Palafour chairlift. Service is very friendly and although not directly connected to the hotel (you have to exit the hotel and enter the restaurant), the nearby Escale Blanche is a convenient dinner restaurant, where we ended up dining more than once during the week. Food was great. Refuge's ski locker is also well maintained with heated boot racks, and the closets can take several pairs of skis.

This very welcoming hotel right in the centre of Tignes Le Lac is the perfect base for a skiing break. We stayed five nights in early February in a first floor room.
Breakfast is a highlight - all you can eat and more!
The rooms aren't huge, but have space for ski gear and a large double bed. Lots of hot water to bath or shower and a very good boot room, with lockable cupboards and boot warmers. Lots of excellent restaurants nearby (which the hotel will book for you) for dinner.
You can ski in and out (to within 10 metres) as a beginner or expert.
Car parking is nearby (underground).
The hotel will even arrange your ski-pass - often at reduced 'package' rates!

Don’t let the name fool you. Hotel Le Refuge is a smart clean and very well located hotel. Situated close to a number of ski lifts and very handy for the local shops, bars and restaurants. If you ski on your day of departure they have a shower room available which is very handy.

We just got back from our fourth visit to Hotel Le Refuge. We wanted to try a new ski resort this season, but our memories of Le Refuge were so fond we could not resist another visit. We were not disappointed. The staff are fantastic - so helpful with everything from speedy service to restaurant recommendations and reservations. In particular, the night manager Bob, is very friendly and welcoming. Capucine is a very attentive owner. She seems to be everywhere at once making sure that the quality of our experience is as good as it can be. She is super helpful as well, recommending fantastic restaurants. The breakfast spread is simple, yet of excellent quality. Local cheese, meat and bread are the showcase, but they also have hot scrambled eggs and bacon available and an egg boiler. The location is perfect: 50 meters from both a gondola and a chair lift. In my opinion, Tignes is the better of the two major areas (as opposed to Val D'Isere), because of the prices and because of the easier access to intermediate trails for for children.

I booked the hotel for a ski trip with my adult son for the beginning of January & paid a 30% deposit, noting that their T&Cs allowed it to be credited against a future stay if COVID prevented my stay. A few weeks later, the French Government banned non-essential travel so I contacted the hotel and cancelled. The hotel immediately refunded my deposit without me asking - nice when others are being so difficult about refunds. When restrictions were lifted, I was pleased to repay them and rebooked for late January. The hotel is centrally sited, with easy access to the ski lifts. The breakfasts were buffet but not merely "continental" as there were scrambled/boiled eggs and bacon plus fruits, cereal, cheese, ham etc. Our room was of modest size for 2 grown men and it would have been better to have had more space between the twin beds, The lighting in the room was not strong - a minor problem if hunting for something dropped on the floor in the evening. The wifi worked well. The TV had several British channels (including BBC & film 4). There is a nice spa which was great after skiing; fortunately it was never busy when we used it as it was relatively small. The staff were very friendly.

We spent 13 nights in the Hotel le Refuge in July 2022 (2 adults and 2 children). The hotel is in an amazing location with views over the lake to the Grand Motte from the front of the building. It's a short walk from restaurants; shops; the two main summer lifts; buses (both up to Val Claret and down to Tignes 1800) and the water sports on the lake itself.

We had a family room with two bedrooms and while the rooms were small (although inline with many European hotels), the were clean and cosy and we had access to a large balcony which got the sun in the evening.

Every member of staff we interacted with was friendly and welcoming; the included breakfast was good and the view from the breakfast room out across the lake is stunning. The hotel arranged our "My Tignes" cards which give access to the lifts and activities in summer getting us the reduced price for those staying with a My Tignes partner.

Overall, I can't fault the hotel on anything, Tignes is a great place to visit in the summer with amazing scenery and so many activities to do and this hotel was a great place to stay when doing so.

This is a very sweet little hotel within a very short walk of all the lifts of Tignes Le Lac and the shuttle bus between Val Claret and Le Lavachet. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful - traditionally french with lots of pastries! The rooms are fairly basic and bathrooms old fashioned, but it is just a 3 star hotel and therefore that’s to be expected. It’s clean, there’s a pool table and lounge area should you not be able to get on to the slopes, and staff are incredibly helpful and polite. The spa area in the basement isn’t really my thing - the red lighting is interesting, but each to their own! All accommodation in this area is expensive in high season, but in this instance, you’re paying for an enviable and convenient location which can be a godsend with small children.

For a family of 5, great set-up and one of the few hotels that would take a stay of less than a week. Rooms comfortable and without being super spacious allowed all 5 of us some space, with two zones and two TVs for example. Team at reception really welcoming and happy to give mountain and apres advice. Location- couldnt be better. 50metres walk and you are at the main zone at Le Lac.

We have stayed at Le Refuge almost every winter for over 25 years and have always had wonderful service from Capucine and her team - now Guillaume, Justine and Bob.
Breakfast on the top floor is extensive and delicious. The rooms have very comfortable beds (with sheet and blankets, not duvets which is perfect for us) and there is plenty of hot water for bathing after skiing.
We will be back.

Hotel is located in a great location central in Le Lac with easy access to both lifts. Buffet breakfast was superb wide a wide choice available. Room was reasonable size, although the bathroom was slightly dated, the room and hotel was always spotlessly cleaned daily. Didn't have time to use the spa.
