when we arrived at the Chalet Les Melezes we were initially little underwhelmed, maybe i was expecting something different, we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who gave us the normal introduction to facilities, house rules etc before we went to our room.
The room itself was all the things i require from a holiday room comfy bed, good shower, nice and warm, and clean.
The chalet do in house ski hire and we took adavntage of this facility the skis that we had were excellent and very well prepared so i can recommend this service as they were also very reasonably priced.
Any mis givings we may have had on arrival were very soon dispelled as the friendliness of the staff made the stay really enjoyable.
The bar area was a nice place to sit and relax before and after our meals and was used by guests, locals and guests from other chalets which added to the nice ambience.
Unfortunately my wife has food intolerances which can make dining abroad an interesting and challenging experience, the chef and staff at Les Melezes bent over backwards to ensure that not only was ny wife well fed but her food was as good as mine and for that i thank them.
So from the underwhelming start we ended up having a great four days and if we go back to Tignes i would very happily return to Melezes

The Melezes is a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable hotel to stay in. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, the meals were very much value for money with the buffet breakfast, soup at lunchtimes, afternoon cake AND a three course eveing meal with wine. We were able to ski pretty much to the door. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Just returned from 4 nights at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes and its better than ever.
Ski in ski out, extremely helpful staff. Ski passes are brought for you, excellent ski/board tech on site with heated boot room. Great transfer to and from airport courtesy of John.
Rooms are sparse but get down to the bar and talk to other guests.
Ellie and the team have really got the short ski break holiday sorted.

The Melezes as a hotel was OK and it lived up to expectations – basic but functional accommodation.

The huge disappointment was the staff, who seemed completely incapable (or maybe just unwilling) to provide anything resembling service. The workforce were generally young and gave the impression that they were “burnt out” from the season and too many late nights, despite it being only March. The lads were friendly enough, but the girls were surly and seemed incapable of raising a smile. Simple requests were met with a grunt and we were treated like annoying inconveniences rather than paying guests. At breakfast each morning there was supposed to be a cooked option, but on two of three mornings nobody appeared in the dining room to offer it to us until we’d actually finished breakfast and were clearing our things away to leave. Our room wasn’t serviced once during our stay, despite us hanging the sign on the room door before 9am as directed in the in-room brochure.

The evening meals were below par and were reminiscent of school dinners. The food was so unappealing that on our final night we decided to forgo our meal (despite having paid for it as part of the package) and got a takeaway pizza instead.

In terms of location, Les Boisses is a great – away from the action but with superb access to the slopes. But you’ll find better chalet hotels a stone’s throw from Les Melezes with better service and food, for less money.

I spent four days here this summer with some friends and had a fantastic time. I cannot compliment the staff enough for their care and hospitality, they really made us welcome. The hotel itself is fairly basic and homely but has everything you need for when you come back in after a hard days activity. The rooms are simple but clean and we had a nice balcony with great views.

I was genuinely surprised at the quality of the food. The staff took it in turns cooking in the evenings and it seemed like they were trying to out do each other every night with truly excellent quality food that wouldn't have been out of place in a top restaurant!

The main reason you would holiday here in the summer is to take advantage of the huge range of sports on offer. We chose mountain biking, white water rafting, tennis, climbing, skiing and snow boarding and sailing. This was all included in the price and we were driven to each activity and picked up again at the time of our choice. These lifts were even extended to our nights out where we were taxied to the bars and picked up again all included in the price.

I would heartily recommend Les Melezes to those people who put great, down to earth service at the top of their list and don't mind the amenities being basic.

We'll be there again next year for sure.

Well we stopped at Les Melezes for one of their 4 day breaks, and I for one could not wait to leave.
Our room was dirty un-maintained (sewage pipe off bedet with drain smells, toilet role holder hanging off with large screws pointing out). The bedding was dirty the room had a inch of dust under the bed and it made all of us sneeze and wheeze the instant we were in there. The Jacuzzi was used and I stupidly got in it with low water level. I got out smelling of urine. I work in a bio lab so know about bacteria!!!
They messed up our lift passes so the last day we were stranded without a pass or lift home .
Saying all that Gill is very nice and we had a good laugh but the rest of the staff didn't really give a c*** other than going out on the lash.
Other people staying there had simular experiences.

DONT STAY in the APPARTMENT downstairs!!!

Shame as I'd not been skiing for a couple of years and I really was looking forward to the break. Food not bad though.

Could have been great but so far from the mark.

I have been here 3 years running on this deal which has got a little worse each year ,
The ski hire included has become just very basic skis which are quite old ,If you want newer versions it will be at a charge now ,
The meals are really basic and very hit and miss this time of year although the staff do try hard .
The helpfulness has got a bit worse each year and the price crept up to make it an ok deal but you could take a package for a week for the same money early season for a week by the time you add in the flights etc ...

Response from Ellie G, General Manager at Chalet Auberge Les Melezes
Responded 9 Sept 2016
Many thanks for your review and we are sorry you don't feel that it is as good value as it used to be. In the early days we were running at a loss and have to increase prices to make sure the business is still viable. We still offer FREE ski or snowboard hire for the three days in early and late season and although it is not the new season kit it is still very decent and makes up our bronze hire also offered in winter. Each year we are investing in new kit (we are able to when we can make a bit of money!) and this means that the older gold and silver kit becomes bronze. With regards to the menu, we try to keep it simple to accommodate all of our guests tastes which can be very difficult but we do try to offer new dishes which appeal to everyone. We are sorry that they didn't appeal to you. I am unsure how the helpfulness has changed and welcome feedback specifically on how we can improve this, however our feedback has always been exceptional for the service provided.

I've been visiting Les Melezes for several years now, for a short skiing break with friends.

Always a warm welcome from Ellie and her team. The rooms themselves are basic but clean, which is all you really need for skiing. The food is hearty and plentiful and there is a reasonably priced bar where you can relax with the other guests. It has a large hot tub in the garden, perfect for relaxing with a beer after skiing and a sauna for defrosting yourself in following the barefoot journey from hot tub back indoors again !!
Ski equipment and the guys that run the equipment room are first class and I have always been very happy with the kit I have been given. But its never a problem to swap if something isn't just right.

its not in the centre of town, so its a short minibus or cab ride if you want to get into the centre, but after a hard day's skiing I am usually pretty happy to chill out in the hotel bar.

Great value hotel, very friendly and with the inclusive minibus transfers too and from the resort, we just keep coming back.

Me and my family (Mum, Dad, 16 year old son and 13 year old daughter) came here in July of 2015. The staff are very friendly and happy to help. The way it is set out allows you to be friendly with other people staying at Les Melezes. The evening dinner was perfect. 3 courses of restaurant quality food cooked by a fantastic chef. The busses up to the main Tignes are regular easy and cheep. We went white water rafting and canyoning both of which were fantastic. The free water sports on the Tignes sport card are a real bonus. I look forward to returning soon.

On arrival at Geneva our Mountain Sun transfer minibus was ready and waiting for us, a comfortable journey back to the hotel where our ski passes were ready on arrival. Ski Tech at the Hotel was superb and hats off to these lads who made sure even late arriving guests had their skis and boots organized for an early start the following morning - I personally had the best set of hire skis I have ever had - massive thanks. Not even a problem trying different skis mid week which some of our party did.
Our room was clean and cosy with lots of wardrobe space, our bed was extremely comfy and there was always plenty hot water. With a Sauna and Hot Tub who could ask for any more.
Our three course meals at night was always scrumptious and filling as was the free wine which we felt obliged to participate in - served by the efficient and cheerful staff. We decided to dine out one night in Le Lac - very disappointing and extremely expensive plus we missed chefs Tartiflette which I believe is excellent - 'Big Mistake'
We were there to enjoy the company, the food and the ski-ing and it could not have been better. Elle you have a smashing hard working friendly young team who made us feel very welcome especially your little treasure 'Jam' who was an absolute delight. Best value hotel we have ever stayed in and we would most definitely return and recommend it to anybody.

I'm glad Jam didn't cause you too many problems either!! We hope you will be back again and maybe next time you'll get to try the tartiflette!
