We were in Val Thorens from 5 January to 12 January 2020
The hotel is spotless and extremely clean
The rooms were more than comfortable.. we had a double room that interconnected with our two teenage boys
The food was really great and in great Club Med Buffet Offerings there was something for any one of my fussy eating friends. We tried the A La Carte Restaurant and the cheese fondue was great.
The House wine was absolutely acceptable and we did not really find the need to order other wines.
A few comments to potential visitors to Club Med Val Thorens
The Hotel is a ski in but not really a ski out for beginners. The slope down to the first lift is almost a red. If you need to ski down take the first little path left and walk across the road. If the next slope scares you there is a lift to the main area about 50 m up the way in the Creche area. I only got this info because I took a private ski instructor.
To ski in you can catch the long tunnel escalator, but then you have to walk up to the second bridge about 200 m and then you can ski into the ski room.
To walk in the snow with Jimmy is superb when you don't feel like skiing. I was exposed to lifts only the members of my family saw when on black runs. But went to them and fund the walking fantastic and the way that you can use the lifts even if you are a walker. Ask for the walking options and you will be taken out by the most charming Jimmy who is so knowledgable and patient.
Evening entertainment is good, but the town is a few hundred meters away and there are great night clubs well serviced by very efficient bouncers .
I would highly recommend Val Thorens as a ski destination and resort.

There is no easier way to ski than on a Club Med holiday. This resort lived up to all expectations - a caring G.O., hard working friendly staff, great group ski lessons that were all included and fantastic food! The snacks and drinks at Apres ski were always a welcome sight and the team were always a stone throw away in case you needed anything more.

The entertainment was classic club med, the poor staff are expected to learn a routine in about 5 mins and perform it that night, however we went in opening week and they may have more opportunities to perfect these routines as the season progresses.

Bar staff & chefs were lovely and Niko was a fantastic ski teacher for the beginner group. The only downsides of this resort were how expensive the spa treatments were (which put us off even though we often visit spas) and the Hamman did not work on one of the days. The hotel also does not have a heated pool or a connection to a local pool facility which is a downside vs. other resorts.

This was my 3rd ski holiday with Club Med, the two previous being at Pragaleto in a Italy, so would take a hell of a lot to live up to. That being said, it sure did! We had an absolutely fantastic week here at club med Val Thorens Sensations.

The food all week was just amazing, everything & anything that you could wish for. Sometimes could just be a tad warmer, but certainly nothing to complain about!

The rooms are lovely, bright & spacious and cleaned really well daily. My only gripe is that the pillows were awful. The whole of our party struggled, but we simply asked for better ones and that’s what we all got, was no problem at all! The rest of the hotel was kept spotless and has an amazing amount of staff on hand. The hotel is modern & contemporary and is beautiful. Though it doesn’t have that traditional cosy ski cabin feel that Pragaleto has, which some of our family preferred.

It was our first experience of room keys being your bracelet, which is a great idea and so much easier. It also is your locker key for your skis and if you do purchase anything on site you can use it and they just charge it to your card.

The skiing was absolutely amazing, with access to the 3 vallees ski domain. The hotel is a proper ski in ski out resort which was perfect. Literally a few minute ski down to a couple of chair lift options, then had endless options at the ready . Also the Gondola on the door step takes you all the way to the top. We always like to stop for a coffee break during the morning & afternoon ski lessons, however unfortunately our ski guide never wanted to, even though the whole group wanted to. Just kept being told “free at club med” we had to false the issue a couple of times but all it allowed us was to grab a quick bottle of water and then off we went again.

My only small complaint and I must stress it is small, was the amount of time it took to get our skis & boots. It took an hour and a half, possibly longer to do this. It was just way too long and have never experienced that before. Club Med there surely must be something you can do to speed this up for everyone.

I would highly recommend this resort and would definitely return, after trying other resort options that we like the look of.

Before we flew, everyone at Club Med said that Val Thorens is the best for families and especially beginners. Well, that is not the case, in fact for beginners you either need to start the day with a difficult blue course or you need to cross two streets to start to ski!! Now, the staff is not very friendly in general, and the only person that I can say that really went out of their way to be nice and helpful was Salvatore, the person who did the room cleaning. Not only that, on the last day when we asked for the vacum cleaner to close our vacum bags for our trip home, I called the front desk 3 times to ask for it, they never called me back. The fourth time I went downstairs to the front desk they said no, and the two women working there even laughed at me! The rooms are very simple, the bathtub is small and made of plastic. The beds are very simple wooden spring beds, and the mattress is the simplest you can find. The carpet is old and the room furniture is the same. We were given rooms at the end of the hotel, and the walk to the restaurant is long and we need to take 2 elevators. Now in terms of food: the first couple of days the food looks impressive, but in the end it starts to copy itself most of the time, and in the end it get's repetitive quickly. I will say that the check-in was very fast and they had our room keys ready. Check-out was also relatively fast. No one every asked us how it was going. In fact, when we went to the ski desk to complain about our instructor, Lola, the woman at the desk said, "there is nothing to do". When my wife complained to Lola, she told my wife to go to a lower group. The ski groups are large, and for the price we are paying I was sure that the groups would be no larger then 3-5 people, but in fact the groups started at around 11 people!! Now the flights, nothing special, just a standard charter flight. We flew with a Czech carrier, Airwings or something like that and got a disgusting sandwich and water as inflight meal. No USB port to charge from for devices, even the flight attendant complained. No one seems to care at Club Med, so I really don't see what is the big deal, honestly! I really don't think that we will go back to Club Med, it is not worth the price. Easier to pay less and get less, than to pay more and get less. I know that the good thing about Club Med is that you can get the equipment at the hotel and then store them in our locker, and I don't know if other hotels have it, but I would check out oth

The hotel is a really large and prominent building as far as I could tell vs the others in town. Modern and mostly well thought out. When you tell people in town you're staying at club med you feel a little like you're royalty for staying there. It is super well designed when it comes to skiing. Ski in and out, as has been mentioned by others, which is wonderful when you soon realise how annoying it is to walk around in ski boots. However not all of town is so well thought out, and while there are many ski lifts and carpet lifts to get you to places, you'll find that although you can ski into the hotel you'll still have to walk a fair stretch from some areas in order to benefit from the ability. The hotel offers a truly awesome food experience. Having a buffet meal for each meal is already a treat, but when the quality of the buffet is similar to restuarant food then you just can't help but look forward to the next meal. The hotel also has a very useful shop where a person can grab a few things like clothes that you might have missed out on, and their prices are quite reasonable too. I loved every moment of our trip, whether it was on the amazing slopes or chilling at the hotel and I can't recommend it enough.

First time we had tried an all inclusive resort, normally opting for a chalet. Our flight landed on time, but the ground staff at Geneva Airport handled the situation of previously delayed traffic very poorly. We waited an hour and a half for our bags, then had to wait for another flight to clear through from Paris. This was not Club Med's fault, but started the holiday on a negative footing.
The hotel is new, clean and truly ski-in/ski out. The only thing to note is that the piste back to the hotel (Blue - Plan Sud), can get cut-up at the top at the end of the day, as it is a main route back from the 3 valleys.
Staff were generally excellent and the service at the bars and restaurants was very good. Food was good quality and we had a great choice at every meal. You can pay extra for some branded drinks; however all house spirits, wines, cocktails and beers we tried were fine. The house wine during meals was very drinkable.
The Epicurean bar was relaxing and offered table service. The staff do dine alongside customers; however the few me met were very polite and professional.
Rooms were clean, with plenty of storage and a large bottle of water daily.
There was entertainment every night, although after a hard day's skiing and copious cocktails, we did not indulge a great deal.
I would recommend this hotel and will visit again next year.

Club Med Val Thorens Sensations was a great holiday. Every need is taken care of, so you can leave your brain at home, and let the Club Med team take over!

Our ski instructor Laurie was great, really patient with the group and we had a lot of fun with her.

I was particularly impressed that having given our details in advance, the skis and boots were ready waiting in our ski locker for the first morning of ski. This saved time and was such a great service.

The choice of food at the buffet was excellent and the desserts are simply amazing. The a la carte restaurant, Epicurious, was not as good as the buffet (the Epicurious food was poorer quality, staff overwhelmed with guests and upsell on wine), and we were glad we only dined there one night and pleased to return to the buffet.

The climbing wall is an added bonus, and although you think you will be exhausted from a day of skiing, once you've had some refreshments and a quick rest, we had lots of fun with Jimmy, the instructor.

Overall a brilliant week, and will be pleased to experience Club Med again soon.

Stayed at the Club Med for a week with friends. This hotel is first class, with exceptional staff, abundance of delicious food and amazing cocktails. The skiing is pretty impressive too if you are a good skier. Not a lot of green and blue runs but enough for a novice to practice on. The rooms are spotless, cleaned and restocked everyday, the entertainment team work non stop, with so much energy it’s infectious, the chefs always have something new on the menu every night, and the endless supply of exotic cocktails was a welcomed bonus. There really isn’t any negatives about this hotel. But the most praise must go to Arturo the manager. He was multitasking every minute of the day with ease and perfection. He would take time to come and chat with you, then next minute be on the stage dancing and comparing, then be downstairs greeting you for dinner. He was charming, funny and professional, and the most hard working manager I have even seen. This really is an exceptional hotel, with exceptional staff and I would highly recommend.

We got to our room quickly however there was a constant huge queue at reception which made it impossible to speak to someone. We had to email to get a response to our queries. The ESF ski school was very different to our last experience. There were over 20 people in our group. this dwindled down to around 10 a couple of days later. We were under the impression lessons were to be no bigger than 10 people. This should be improved.

The Epicurius restaurant was a welcome retreat with a calm atmosphere in the evening. Stephan and the greek waitress (can't remember her name) were very attentive.

The masseuse Danae and the team in the spa were exceptional and were experts at soothing those tired muscles and provided a very relaxing service.

We enjoyed the food which always had fresh salads and a menu to suit all tastes. The deserts were very good, in fact too good as well as the cheese selection. The drinks at the main restaurant were wine, beer, fizzy water, still water and coffee. If you wanted say a coke or soft drink you had to visit the main bar which is a little inconvenient...although for ease of service this makes sense. Val Thorens and the links to the trois vallee makes this a fantastice resort for skiing. Also worth mentioning the huge expense of eating on the mountain (Euro 35 for a burger and chips no drinks...)means the all inclusive and quality of food make Club Med a good choice. This is our second visit and we will return!

This was our 3rd visit to Val Thorens Club Med within one year. It has became our favorite ski destination. We really enjoy the vibe of this club and the easy ski access.

We like Bruno (guest relation manager), he was very helpful and friendly. Our favorite ski instructor is Nicolas.

Our room was spacious, light and always nicely cleaned. Plenty of hot water for showering and good water pressure. We enjoyed the limited number of small children in this club (our kids are all grown up, so we prefer the mix of mainly adults during our holidays).

There are few things that could be improved: lack of gluten-free items on the buffet, the prepared meals could show if they contain gluten/dairy/sugar (like the soups & sauces - it would be much easier for the guests), the staff is sometimes little slow in collecting the used plates during meals and the ski lockers get crazy busy when getting ready for skiing lessons (just before 9am and 2pm). It would help to separate the departure times by 5-10 minutes for each group, so not everyone has to meet their group at the same time. The ski rental shop has limited inventory of powder skis, I had to rent mine from outside the resort. Also the rental ski shop hours could be improved (earlier in the morning and during the lunch break). But these are all just little things. Nothing that would ruin our stay, more like suggestions about making it better.

We love this resort and already booked our next year stay, March 2021.
