We stayed in our touring caravan on electric hook up - my Sister's family stayed in their caravan next to us.
We usually stay on a much more basic family run site, but tried Higher Harlyn as our usual site was fully booked due to Covid.
I've got to say, although the shop and pool were a great facility, this site was not for us.
The layout felt too cramped and with a lack of landscaping or hedging it resembled a terraced street in rows.
The shower blocks were very modern, but due to numbers of campers, always felt busy and not particularly clean. They were cleaned several times a day, but people were irresponsible and did not clean up after themselves - something I've never encountered before after years of camping. It felt like the world and his Wife had purchased a tent due to Covid and weren't aware of camping etiquette or how to flush a toilet! (My Husband also found 4 empty cans of lager in a toilet cubical and various sweets in the showers.
Water pressure was hard work filling the water hogs and my Husband had a hard time at the Elsan point as there was no flushing system so had to contend with remnants of other campers 'debris'.
Views were lovely and we could see the sea clearly.. plenty of space to walk the dogs too.
The shop was very well stocked with delicious cakes and bread and reasonably priced.
All in all a pleasant stay - just not our cup of tea unfortunately.

After not vistining for a couple of years due to Covid, we looked forward to our return to Higher Harlyn this past weekend. The site was busy but still had the same great family feel. They now have all reserved pitches, so you have your own space, so dont feel crammed in. There were a lot of people having a great time, and the weather was kind. The pool was open and being enjoyed, the shop well stocked, and since the last time we stayed it now has a range of fruit, veg and meats, so didnt need to go anywhere else, the prices were good too. The bar has been done up and looked stunning, and they now serve cocktails, so wonderful for a treat on our first night there. We didnt get to try the new restaurant as it was fully booked, but heard a lot of good things about it, so will book in early next time.
Having read a couple of previous reviews on here about dogs, I can only say it's irresponsible owners, I dont see what else the site could do . We have 2 dogs and on arrival were told they had to be kept on a lead, not left unattended, where the dog walk field was, and that all poo must be picked up, we were also given a sheet of paper reiterating this. Ignorant dog owners give us responsible ones a bad name and if they choose to ignore any rules what can the site reasonably do?. At the bottom of the sheet of paper they even ask us to report any owners we see who have let their pets loose or foul, they would then at least have the chance to do something about it, so why do peole take to social media to critisise rather than actually let the owners or the reception know this is happening.
We have never felt that we were on a cramped pitch, they are much larger than on quite a few other sites we have visited, and sorry to the guy who thinks that we shouldn't wear pyjamas outside, I am probably one of those, who on holiday wants to relax, and I dont want to have to dress before breakfast so that I can get to the toilets.
We didnt hear any noise issues after 11 p.m which is their cut off time, we had a fantastic stay and wil certainly be back, hopefully very soon.

We stayed in one of the holiday homes in Gulland View and the atmosphere is extraordinary! The site is in close proximity of both Padstow and Wadebridge with Harlyn Beach less than a five minute walk away. Breathtaking views across the bay every morning, and plenty of fields for dog walking. The staff were extremely helpful and are willing to answer/help with any queries we had. Overall still an amazing stay this year and was the highlight of our summer!

After booking our pitch over a weeks prior to our visit, we arrived at the campsite after a 6 hour drive to be told we were not allowed to stay here because we didn’t have a chemical toilet and were told to leave. We hadn’t been told about needing a toilet on the phone when booking or in any emails leading up to our visit so we were very shocked when we were told we had to leave due to not having one. The manager was very rude to a member of our group and even started rudely talking and laughing about my friend to members of staff in clear earshot of other holiday makers, including myself as I was waiting in the car. This seems very unprofessional and highly disrespectful. I am shocked.

We then spoke to a lovely young employee after who helped us get a refund and she gave us a few different numbers for campsites around the are that we could ring up and see if they had space which was a huge help as we are not from the area and didn’t know where else to look, so a huge thanks to her as she was amazing!

Overall we were made to feel very unwelcome and won’t be attempting to return. On the plus side, we managed to find a lovely campsite about two fields down the road on the left, travelling towards Harlyn Bay, which was lovely and half the price! There were also toilets and tap water which were all sanitised very regularly! The number for it is 01841 520210 and I couldn’t recommend it more!

We have come back from a lovely holiday camping at Higher Harlyn Park. Location was perfect for walking to local pub or could walk to beaches. Site facilities were perfect and have everything you need to have a perfect camping experience; especially the early morning walk to the coffee cabin and then the food huts in the evening. Outdoor heated swimming pool was very much the favourite place to be for our children. Beautiful sunsets with a fantastic coastal view, quiet campsite at night. The campsite was super clean and was very much getting cleaned throughout the day.
2 improvements to make but not a complaint; showers to stay on a little longer and not have to continually press button and a safer walking path to the beach.
We can’t wait to go back in 2022!!!!

We stayed here as we wanted to be able to cycle to padstow to do the camel trail and also be close to lovely beaches and we were not disappointed. The campsite is kept to a very high standard, the only things that let it down were other campers who have no respect for the people running the place trying to keep it clean. I lost count of the number of times I found unflushed toilets, I just don't get it you wouldn't do this in your own home so don't do it here. I felt sorry for the owners who obviously have a high standard of cleaning as other than this, it was immaculate!

The bar was great, friendly service and somewhere so sit for a break from the rain.

My only grumble really is the push button on the shower which only stayed on for around 10 seconds I just wish campsites would have a longer timer on the push button as I couldn't even get the shampoo in my hair before it went off let alone wash it back out again. But this seems to be a campsite wide issue, not just higher harlyn. We stayed in the main field with a sea view and did find it a bit of a trek to the toilets and wash up area, would be great if you could put some more in the main field so it's a bit closer.

All in all, we had a great stay. The weather could have been better ( it was very windy the week we stayed), but again not in the campsite control.

We would highly recommend and will definitely go back to this campsite again. And will recommend to friends and family.

Thank you for a great week.

Thank you Hayley for your 5* review. It is lovely to read so many positive comments. We appreciate you recognising our very high standards, even with our fantastic cleaners and maintenance team it can sometimes be very challenging! The push button showers were installed to help with the water levels in the County, we find that there is so much less wasted water. As you say most campsites have this facility and it’s for the same reason. Thank you again for the great review and for your recommendations. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit.

Higher harlyn Park, what can we say! We loved it and will be back

We came mid August, middle of summer holiday season

Camped on Gulland view, row R. What a view. Beautifully maintained electric pitch, excellent size, nicely marked out

Toliets/showers the block we used were really modern, lovely and well kept. Busy at key times but relevant to the amount of people on site, and never queuing to use. Push button shower reviews from other did have me slightly concerned, but 100% stayed on long enough, longer than some push showers we've used on other sites. (Would have liked a squeegee to be able to dry the floor before/after I'd used though)

The kids loved the pool, the bar was nice too, we didn't use the restaurant but it looked nice from outside

The shop was open 8-8 and was stocked well, loved that we could buy Barnicuts in the shop, The coffee truck served a very good brew

Every member of staff we came into contact with was always smiling, happy to chat and answer questions, during storm Betty one of the guys was out doing the rounds checking up on people

The walks available from the campsite were one of the reasons we booked this site:- to the beach at Harlyn , a very nice walk either straight down the road or over the path over the fields to the steps mid beach & then our favorite walk round the headland to the YHA and back over the fields

The campsite is also on a bus route, 1st time ever we have got on the bus on holiday, what a game changer into padstow or on the open top Atlantic Coaster to Newquay & not having to park the car!

Huge thanks to all the staff at HHP

4 nights in June. there are alot of static caravans but these are separated so still has a campsite feel with lots of tents. facilities are very clean wirh nice free hot showers and hangers etc in the showers. plugs for your hairdryer. Shop great and reasonable. cold wine and milk and bread meat etc supporting local butcher. very impressed. staff so lovely and took the time to listen to what type of pitch I liked. so many great beaches around for you to try and buses stop just up the road if you are in to coastal walks. about 15/20 mins walk to Harlyn beach to start a walk. Special mention for Miriam who sorted out my pitch. such a lovely holiday for us

Clearly a very well invested in and looked after campsite with excellent and clean facilities, so maximum credit due to the management /owners for this!

However it’s very much let down by the lack of the implementation/management of campsite rules
I.e driving of scaffolders transit vans across the field at 30mph and then bringing a giant 4ft amplified disco speaker with ridiculous bass and p1ssing off the entire campsite with rubbish 90’s pop until 10:45pm for 2 nights in a row.

Extremely selfish people thinking it’s ok to take over other peoples pitches with their 4 awnings, tents and gazebo.

The ever increasing problem for campsites (not just here) of very very selfish people who think it’s acceptable to pack their caravans up at 530am on Sunday whilst leaving their noisy rattley engines running on their Mercedes Vito vans for 20 minutes whilst kids are trying to sleep next door. Maybe a barrier would stop this, and add to the security?

Or the 24hr pyjama wearing mums that think it’s fine to let their kids play football against your tent/campers at 630am

Or the countless dogs never tethered and allowed to roam all over other peoples pitches and poo on them

Whilst the management may not think this is their issue, it is! There needs to be some form of rules for everyone’s enjoyment and the management need to be seen walking around and ensuring that selfish guests aren’t ruining everyone else’s holiday

Amazing time and will be visiting more often. Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Facilities were great and bad weather didn’t matter when we jumped in outside heated pool.
Can’t wait for end of august so we can get back down.
Site conveniently placed near shops and beaches.

There is a small shop on site and one in the village. More options in padstow which is about a 5 min drive. Larger supermarkets were 10 mins away, Tesco was the closest to us
