Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

One of the best hotels. We came again, as we like to do every year. Best service from reception to departure. Great comfortable clean ( spotless) rooms. Overlooking the promenade of the lake . Parking available, and hopefully the spa will be ready soon. ( nice swimming pool on top of hotel is great in the summer). Breakfast is great. Recommend it warmly, will come again.

We had lunch here today. Not for the first time. The food was good as usual but sadly the service was rather poor and disorganised. We waited 35 min for our drinks. When the food arrived (finally after a long wait) only 3 of the 4 of us got their plates. A really poor experience. We will not come back

Such a lovely hotel, stylish with beautiful views and very friendly, helpful staff. our room was truly beautiful, looking out to the lake. The pool on the roof is great with service from a friendly staff member as you sun yourself . Absolute luxury. The restaurant offers some amazing food and the staff made sure that they could fit us in on the night that we hadn't booked and they were really busy. The renovation work didn't disrupt us at all but I do wonder if the pool and roof top won't be a bit too busy and less relaxed once all the new rooms open? The michelin star restaurant serves some gorgeous food but I personally find so many courses just too much and prefer to pick from a menu. All in all a perfect 4 nights

We didn't know what to expect based on the mixture of Trip Advisor reviews but we left feeling very impressed. We had booked a 'Deluxe' room as the suites were out of our price bracket. On arrival we were escorted to our room which I would have classed as a junior suite with a large balcony and stunning views across the lake. Not sure if this was a standard 'deluxe' or whether we just got lucky? Walk-in shower suited us fine as we now have a dislike for having to step into a bath. We ate in the restaurant twice - the first night a couple of the starters were off the menu but the second visit, the full menu was available. The menu is moderately prices for a 5* hotel as were the wines. For the wine buffs out there, the Battenfeld Spanier was one of the best Weissburgunder wines I've tried in a long time. The hotel has hire bikes available, both standard and electric. The roof top pool was an added bonus - decent size and great views. Finally, the staff, the ones were met were a true asset to the hotel. They got the job done efficiently and calmly and were extremely friendly. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.

what a bad hotel, where is the management, you need to 5 euro for to get your coffee our thee at your room, you will not get any nespresso machine at the room, you will not get any service at your room and need to pay for anything, and that for a hotel where you pay 500 /600 euro a night, listen management what happens, where is the crew , i did stay in better hotels then your hotel, it will be better for to get a secret visit at your own hotel for to see what wrong, , and dont give me any excuses about the working place at the hotel, no no, never i will get there again sorry , the problem is just that the people working for riva need to take a lessons for how to feel guests home at a hotel, and never let pay for to get room service,,,, sorry

Probably this is one of the best hotels in Konstanz, but I am reviewing this as a hotel in Germany. Then, this hotel is unfortunately not worth the money. There are too many disturbing items for a 5 star hotel, such as no tea and/or coffee facilities in the room, airco is making to much noice (fortunately, it was not necessary to use it in the evening), no bath and the view on the lake was very limited, in fact useless. For that matter, if you want to see the lake, choose a room with full view., but you have to pay extra. On the last day, our "coffee" table was removed without informing us (completely unclear why it was removed). Finally, there was no buffet breakfast, which was the case at other hotels in Germany at that time. Therefore, nice hotel, but....

Liked: There are some pros and cons.. 1st to say, the food and restaurant are excellent. We eat 4 days only in the hotel, breakfasts, lunch and dinners - and everything was superb. The food, the service, the wine list and the views around. After this COVID re-opening they are managing things tightly, you need to pre-book the time for breakfast and dinner, and advised also for lunch, but once you in, all is good. The menu selection was very good too, and they have kids options as well. We haven't tried Ophelia yet - next time. 2nd, the location is very good, albeit maybe more noisy and less private than you think from the distance, since this is truly 20meters from the lake promenade. The rooms are good size and well-equipped, albeit I was hoping for more space when reading the 40-50m2 (Deluxe room) - perhaps that's includes terrace too. 3rd, there is wonderful roof-top pool and sun lounger space, with great views and good pool bar service. Bills and departure there easy and smooth. Disliked: I felt that for a such a renown property they could do better in certain areas: - There is on-going construction of hotel extension. No noise thankfully, but to entry the parking garage you have to drive into construction zone, with no signs and no regulations. - Parking spaces are limited and VERY tight. With mid-sized sedan, I wasn't able to comfortably get out of the car and generally parking was tricky. No valet parking offered upon arrival. - Pool was very clean and circulating one day, and so that roof top terrace was nicely prepared from the morning. Next day, however, the roof terrace wasn't prepared at all upon opening time and pool was super dirty with dead flies in it. We raised the concern, but the answer was that it is fully automated and so that "everything is fine". It was inconsistent experience between two consecutive days, difficult to say which one is the norm. - On the sunny days, rooms warms up quickly due to floor-to-ceiling windows, and even with closed curtains, it is getting pretty hot inside even with A/C working - hence I would doubt how efficient A/C actually is, since I don't feel it can calm temperature quickly.

Hotel riva is a great hotel at the bodensee. Fantastic service, including breakfast and dinner. The rooms are very nice. Location directly at the bodensee is great. They are making an extension to the hotel, but -surprisingly- this is done extremely quiet.
