This hotel ticked all the practical boxes. For those with cars there was plenty of parking.

For those with bikes there was secure storage in a garage along with a selection of tools and bike maintenance stands.
It was well located, a very short walk from the ferry across the lake to Meersburg (well worth a visit).
Also very well located for the Bodensee cycle and walking paths round the lake.
The public areas and the room/en suite were spotlessly clean.
The room was not large, but space was sufficient. A fan was provided (very appreciated).
We had not chosen to pay extra for a balcony room.
There was no facility to make hot drinks and no fridge.
Reception staff were available and helpful. Although the man on reception could not be described as friendly .

The included breakfast was more than adequate, a good range of cold meats etc, along with bread, cereal and fruit juice. They won't be winning awards for the coffee though - just about tolerable, which was disappointing.

All in all it all worked. A Charming Hotel? No. A Competent Hotel? Definitely.

A more friendly welcome and better coffee and I’d probably give it the 5 star

Warm welcome and lovely room but tiny bathroom. Disappointed by the lack of view as “Bella Vista” suggested, but more disappointing was the lack of bikes for hire as advertised. The breakfast was adequate but understaffed, so had to wait ages for coffee and being a caffeine freak that didn’t go down well! Helpful reception gave us good info for restaurants and bike hire in the town centre with two free bus passes.

I stayed here for three nights with my husband and 7 year old daughter during our month-long trip through Europe. Very basic hotel that met all of our needs- clean, comfortable, free parking & wifi and decent breakfast. The room was a bit on the small side by European standards.

However, if you or someone in your party has any physical limitations this hotel is probably not for you. Three floors and no elevator so reserve a room on the first floor if you can. Also, there is no lounge or common area in this hotel- just a reception desk stairs leading to the second floor.

The hotel is located off a very busy road which can get a little noisy at night. 10 minute walk to ferry and bus stop. You can pick up some bottled water etc. from the market around the corner.

Overall, not a bad experience but I'd probably shop around before booking this hotel again.

Although the front desk person was very friendly, warm and nice, we got the tiniest room in the hotel. You could hardly stand in the room. Very bad experience in terms of the room size. The prize for the room is unproportional. The breakfast costed extra but cheap. The breakfast was very good. The personnel was very friendly. I think our bad luck was that we got the worst smallest room.

I really like to write good reviews but our stay was not very good. Unfortunately, we didn't have any cell service (though our cell carrier assured us that we would) so we could not notify the hotel desk that we were delayed by an auto accident we had. When we made our reservation, we had no idea that you had to arrive by 9 PM. We arrived at 9:13 PM and were reprimanded by a very unhappy woman at the desk. There was no friendliness at all. The room itself was in the basement and although it was large, it was very poorly kept and the view was horrible. There are no elevators, the lighting on the stairwell was poor, and it was very difficult for us senior citizens. There was no parking available at the hotel, so we had to walk a distance through a neighborhood street. The breakfast was adequate, but the breakfast room was so small, if people were at the buffet, you could not get in or out of the area.

(+) The hotel is located in the quiet area of the city far away from the city center and tourists. It is a small cozy hotel with amazing breakfast, helpful personnel and bowl of chocolate on the reception desk. If you come in spring or summer, I would definitely recommend to visit Mainau island, where you can get with a bus number 4 if I remember correctly. We were advised to go there after 5 p.m. because it is a half price and less people. We enjoyed our walk through the beautiful paths surrounded by blooming rhododendrons and many other flowers.
(-) The hotel is a bit far from the city center (40-45 min walking or bus 1 or 4).

The hotel is very clean, well positioned. We had a quadruple room for we traveled in group; a double bed and 2 superposed beds. We had the best breakfast ever: only bio products (i think some of them were home made). You'll like it and if you are a smoker...you have a big terrace as well...

I stayed at the Bella Vista recently with my family. Konstanz is such a beautiful place and this hotel is ideally located and very well run. We all had a wonderful time.

The Hotel Bella Vista is conveniently located within a few minutes’ walk from the auto ferry dock in north side of Konstanz, and a 15 minute walk to a really great local restaurant, the Porter. For our room for 3 adults we were given their Family Suite, which had 2 bedrooms, a room with a table & 4 chairs, and one and a half baths. It was vary spacious, but was located in the basement of the hotel, so there was no view out the windows of anything besides the bushes surrounding a private patio. We missed the pleasant breezes in the area throughout our stay, especially at night since there was no air conditioning. It was definitely not elegant, but it was more than adequate. Their beds were very comfortable and large. One of the real treats was their breakfast room located on a glass enclosed patio just off the main dining area. It was sunny and bright, with a delightful breakfast that included some fine pastries, and a perfect way to start a day. The staff was multi-lingual and very helpful, but the desk clerk wasn’t able to give us good directions to the catamaran shuttle port in Konstanz. We followed the city bus directions we were given and ended up at a beautiful public beach area that was very popular with local folks. With help from a young college student we were able to catch a bus into Konstanz and another very helpful local there actually walked us to the port. The people of Konstanz were all very friendly. I recommend that you take the catamaran to Friedrichshafen and visit the Zeppelin Museum. It was fascinating!
