You probably don´t live in a former barrack building and maybe you only have a very vague idea how the atmosphere in such a venerable and historical garrison building could be. We assure you will like it: A large number of attractive and lovingly created details, rustic elements and light flooded rooms with homely latticed windows create a cosy atmosphere. Moreover you can experience with us how comfortable it is to live in a fully fitted apartment and to enjoy the engaged service of a hotel. Our copious breakfast buffet is just one of many advantages. Our friendly team is an additional. We wish that you feel at home with us. We are looking forward to welcoming you in Konstanz. Yours Apartment Hotel Konstanz

We drove from Brussels. Plenty of parking, no charge. The hotel provides you with free bus pass valid during your stay. This is great because you do not have to drive into the city center. Bus stop is 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. All buses lead to downtown Konstanz.
Hotel rooms are spacious, clean, renovated bathrooms and kitchenette in the room.Absolutely wonderful, delicious breakfast buffet, which includes, eggs, breads, cheeses, cold cuts, coffee, juices, tea, sweets etc. There is no room service and no staff available after 10pm. Your room key opens the front door if you later then 10 pm. Very helpful and English speaking staff. Great base to explore Switzerland and Liechtenstein without Swiss prices. Zurich is only 1 hr away, Liechtenstein 45 minutes. Grocery store is close to the bus stop, so you can pick up any items you need.We would return.

My wife, teenage daughter and I stayed at the Apartment Hotel Konstanz for five days in July 2012. It was an absolutely fantastic place to stay for lots of different reasons!

We arrived by train and took a taxi to the Hotel from the station which was only about six Euros. After that we took the bus everywhere. The buses leave from Zahringerplatz which is about 500 metres away. There are about ten buses that go into the centre of the town from there and it’s virtually impossible to go wrong with these. When you pay German hotel tax you automatically get free travel so you can hop on and off the buses to go backwards and forwards without having to worry about tickets etc.

On the map the Apartment Hotel Konstanz does look a little out town but the transport is so easy it’s not a problem. More importantly, I doubt whether you would get such enormous rooms nearer the centre. Our room was huge. It had a two ring electric cooker and a fridge – and wifi. It was the sort of place where you could comfortably spend some time without everyone getting on top of each other.

If you do want to cook or eat in, there is a fantastically cheap supermarket, Kaufland, in the shopping centre basement near the bus-stop at Zahringerplatz. It’s huge and has anything you could possibly want.

Some of the reviews here mention the general locale around the hotel. Although there are housing blocks in the area, it seems to be mainly a student area, with lots of young people, cyclists and it all seems to be generally very pleasant and easy going.

Breakfast at the Apartment Hotel Konstanz is better than most. A very good range of continental breakfast food, plus there is always hot food as well.

Cycle hire is available directly at the hotel. They have a big shed full of bikes round the back and will hire them out with the minimum of fuss. So it makes exploring the area by bicycle an absolute doddle.

However, the very best bit about the Apartment Hotel Konstanz is the staff. Not just the kitchen staff who are delightful, but the people on Reception really go out of their way to help you. They’ll get up and go off to find you a timetable, draw maps for you, recommend routes and generally sort out any problem. When we needed to find a hospital for a minor problem they sprang into action to organise it.

In most hotels most reception staff move between icy indifference and a slight awareness of their customers. The staff here are just so pleasant, enthusiastic, friendly, helpful and interested in their guests that they make staying at the Apartment Hotel Konstanz a real pleasure.

If you’re looking for a spacious, friendly and easy base to explore Bodensee (Lake Constance) and Konstanz I can’t imagine you’d find much better than the Apartment Hotel Konstanz.

When was the last time you lived in a BOQ? When was the last time you lived in a solid old German Wehrmacht four storey barrack which had been confiscated by the French Army for some 40 years? And when was the last time you and your spouse occupied a room that used to sleep a dozen young men in bunk beds?
Relax. The entire building has been renovated. Four meter high rooms with an area of estimated 60 square meters give you the feeling of a nice suite. The wooden floor is solid parquet, not squeaking with every step as you might expect. There is a little kitchen, a bathroom, a living room area and a bed. In the corridors you can still see the niches where the gun holders were. They now host (gun nuts will wince) wonderful images of flowers. Free superfast WLAN is included. The breakfast buffet is excellent. And so is the overall service.
The Apartment Hotel is in an area preferably occupied by university students, and yet it is extremely quiet. Even though our last visit was in July and blossom time was over, your nostrils are filled with a rich scent of nature you might expect in a botanical garden, thanks to the many old trees and the vicinity of Lake Constance and the river Rhine. A ten minute walk brings you over a foot and bicycle bridge into the lovely city, with excavations from its third century history as a Roman Fort. A word of advice regarding your car: Leave it at the hotel. The inner city is perched in between the lake, the river and the Swiss border. Pak garage quickly sum up for 10 or 20 Euro a day and you often have to wait half an hour to get in. For 1,50 per person and day the hotels offer an all day ticket that is good for all buses in the entire city as well as to the neighboring suburbs.
I was born here, I grew up in this city. I frequently come back and I know the city well. The Apartment Hotel with its affordable price, with its location, with its amenities, with its spacious rooms, the excellent parking possibilities is the best deal you can get in the entire city.

We have been staying here since last 3 months. And few words here won't justify what we have felt and experienced. They take care of us in a way we do not expect them to. We have been completely taken aback by their hospitality. Visit blog to know it all about this place. Link below

Hotel located some distance from city centres but with facilities close by (restaurants, bars, supermarket). Free parking, wifi. Good breakfast and spacious rooms with small kitchenettes. Good family options even if not that particularly cheap.

This is quiet a good hotel but not in the best area. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was as good as anywhere. I was amazed to see the staff wearing white gloves to set out the breakfast tables.
Being an old military building the rooms are very large with high ceilings. The lift, stairs and hallways need some renovations as these are off putting.
Externally, the hotel is on a residential estate of mainly low rise apartment buildings and it has to be said it is quiet an untidy area with a fair amount of graffiti on the walls. Though we were not hassled by the locals we both felt we would not be at ease walking these streets after dark.

Stayed here last week and at first thought I may have a made a mistake (no restaraunt) in our booking. We had driven up from Lake Constance and were looking for somewhere on the Germany side (Swiss side tends to be more expensive :( ).
When we checked in my partner realised that this was an old army barracks (see many remakrs about the large, tall rooms) this turned out to be a bonus as the room we had was really like an appartment.
It was huge and well furnished with a modern touch.
We ate in Konstanz near in the old town (recommended) and you can walk it in around 20 minutes or take a bus for about Euro 4. We had a good choice at breakfast with one nice touch being a choice of latter, cappacino, normal coffee etc, nice!
One point to note was that you have to take your room key as they lock up at 9pm...

Abso;utely loved our 3 week stay. It is so clean ( and we are picky about this), comfortable & well appointed. Easy walk to downtown, waterfront, festivities, shopping, restaurants etc. Great service and help from all the staff. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed there in one big room 4 adults, slept in one double bed and a double sofabed and paid 218 EU for one night.Room 206. For this amount, we were not happy with the room. The good things first are that the building is nice on the outside, the room was very big, very clean, with high windows , the staff nice and helpful and the breakfast was very good. The parking area also was nice and spacious. The hotel is just two stops with the bus from the city centre or 15-20 minutes walk. Wifi was fine also. BUT the room is one of the ugliest I have ever stayed at , it has an institutional feeling , looked like an old hospital room. We found out that it used to be a garrison and it looks like one...... It desperately needs top to bottom renovation, especially the bathroom which was in the middle of the room and lower than the rest of it, the kitchen with a 70s floor , the electric sockets that looked ancient and many others. The quality-price ration is not a good one....
