Not much to complain about.

An electronic check in, quite innovative!
Parking of the property is recomended as outside only 2h at the time are permitted and pritty expensive.

The room was just as described in the options (if coupoles I recomend to 1.60 bed, as we find the French size bed , 1.40, a bit too small), loved the balcony, spacious and the individual heating the had temperature regulation.
A small microwave was provoded, kettle, cutlery and fridge (we did not use them however).

Location was fine, 10 min walk from the center and not to buisy and noisy. Main road was 2 blocks away making it easely reachable by car.

Linen and towels provided and clean, so was soap.

Did not try breakfast.

One only negative thing was the floor which was stiky in one part of the room.

The mini apartment was very good and clean, in a quiet area. The price is however quite steep

What was disappointing was the garage. We paid 20 euros extra a night to park our car.
One morning we could not take out our car because there were 2 other cars parked in front of it. We had to look for help and it took 15 minutes to be able to leave. Another evening we arrived at 10 pm and our card did not open the garage anymore. Also, the garage has very tight parking spots, so before paying for it check if you will be actually able to park your car there. On the street the parking cost 2 euros a hour during the day and one can only park max. 2 hours

You never meet a staff person while staying here, so the experience is overall a bit impersonal

The Boardinghouse concept is fully automated. At the check-in machine you collect your key and printed invoice. Rooms are spacious (I had a single room) with a kitchenette. You need to buy your own coffee, tea (Edeka is 5min away by foot). Clean and spacious bathroom. WiFi included.
Breakfast is optional and parking garage as well.
Unfortunately my access key was defect. Could not open the main entrance at 8.30pm. So I called the service number 4 times but nobody answered. Luckily a guest came out the lobby so I sneaked in. Inside I could not open my room door. Sent a mail for Help (still waiting for reply).
Summary: if technology is down, you are not onboard.

Really rude staff. By mistake I booked the wrong dates and after 5 minutes I saw that and texted the hotel (half a month before my stay). The hotel refused to change the dates and only offered me to get an upgrade (their upgrades look the same as the standard rooms) if I pay double to change the dates, which is ridiculous since I could book the same rooms I booked before for the dates that I need for less!
I refused this and said I will contact my booking agent t and the bank to cancel this booking. To this they decided to charge my card early, even though I chose to pay in cash when I arrive!!! How is this even legal?
Anyway, if you are someone who values customer service and would think to get some hospitality during these weird covid travel times where's you might need to cancel/change your trip don't book this hotel since they won't care.
Also they don't speak English and their reception works from 7am to 11am, great strategy to avoid guests👌

Bordinghouse HOME is terrible. I’d very seriously recommend you don’t stay here. Their booking policy is a scam, and the manager of the hotel was frankly rude and unethical. They booked and charged me for many more nights than I was staying, and refused to updated my reservation or refund me. Their customer service is lousy and they clear don’t value their customers.

If you are somebody who needs no internet and no sleep and definitely no staff, then this place is perfect for you: automated check-in and key cards, clean and new apartments with a very functional small kitchen area are great. Everything is very new. Parking in the garage is 10 EUR per day, just beware the entrance is very narrow so nothing for big SUVs like ours (Audi Q5).

Back to the overall experience (and remember, I work for a hotel chain).

- worst internet ever. The routers were poorly placed resulting in the apartment not getting any coverage. We had to open the door of the apartment and even then it was terribly slow (see the screenshot for proof).

- most uncomfortable bed ever. In Germany, you can sue a hotel for such an experience and claim up to 25% of the price back. I am still contemplating doing this.
First of all, the bed size is 140 cm in width (4.6 feet). It is an insult to sell a room with a bed like this for "double occupancy". If we did this in our hotels, we would be flooded with complaints like mine now.
However, not only is the bed terribly small, it's also one of the worst mattresses I have ever slept on. It's extremely soft and you tend to roll to the center of the small bed. We had neck pain every morning and complaining just revealed that all beds were like this.

- Staff / Service. I understand the concept of no frills and automated checkin, I'm completely fine with this. In fact, the automated checkin was probably the best experience of the stay. However, you can't operate a building you "market" as an alternative to hotels with a reception that's open 4 hours a day. No emergency phone numbers, nobody to speak to in case of an issue. Unbelievable.
We asked for toilet paper and the trash to be emptied (you have to hand a sign like a DND on your door). Nothing ever happened. We had to ask for it at reception.

The guys at the reception seem completely clueless as to how to operate a building like this. Not a single sense of hospitality in their mind. Nice guys, but not for a hotel, you should put them in charge of a car park maybe.

I've traveled the World from hostels to Four Seasons and I'm generally very easy-going, also because I work in the industry and understand that sometimes things can go wrong. However, in this particular case, I feel like the World deserves to be warned and hence my review.

I never write reviews whilst I’m still in the place however as I’m sitting in the staircase (no internet in my room) I feel compelled to warn other travellers. This is advertised as an ‘adults only’ property and what should I have in the apartment next to mine? Children! I love kids, however booked this to have rest from them. Why advertise as adults only and clearly be misleading guests? And the wifi, well as I said I’m in the staircase so I can log on. Absolutely disgusted with this misleading place and how hard is it to get reliable wifi these days?!!!! I despise properties that mislead their guests especially when my hard earned money is wasted. Unfortunately I urge all potential guests to check reviews and be prepared for terrible wifi and children in this adults only apartment complex.

The hotel located 10 min to old city and lake by walking. It is an apart hotel with fully kitchen. For long stays could be the price quite good for such hotel. Wifi is free, there is a self-check-in machine, so the reception is closed at nights.

My 78 year old mother and her friend stayed at this hotel from 12 - 16 August 2014. I booked the hotel through booking.com.

Anybody using this hotel should be aware that reception is only open from 7 am - 11 am! My mother arrived at 8 pm, tried to check-in through the hotel ATM/credit card system - for some reason or other her cards were all rejected. She tried to call the hotel owner, nobody picked up the phone for a full three hours....

By 11 pm, other hotel guests finally helped her out by using their credit card to check in (she reimbursed them in cash).

Can you imagine what would have happened in case of fire, flooding or other calamities?

Fair enough that the hotel operates reception hours but at the very least somebody should be available 24/7 on the phone!

I wouldn't recommend this property because the staff was very rude in dealing with my clients. My clients had to cancel their trip and we had booked 6 nights here, we understood the penalty for 1-3 nights but would not give any money back for the remaining nights and we had booked 2 rooms for 6 night and had to cancel and did not receive a penny back- yet.
