Perfectly situated between 2 major shopping centres, 2 minutes from the station and 3 minutes from the lake it lies in the midst of numerous restaurants as well as having its own. Whilst the rooms are not large, they are adequate (we had 2) and the beds are very comfortable. We were able to park in their on site garage and retrieve the car easily for trips. Breakfast was good although without cooked food and the coffee excellent. As a small family run hotel, it doesn't have such luxuries as room service or mini bars. The staff are most helpful and obliging, even without English

I arrived in Konstanz at 8pm after dark and immediately freaked out that I hadn't booked a room. Happened upon Goldener Sternen and spoke to the little old lady at the desk (who only knew 1 word in English: "Breakfast") - Booked a room for two nights for 1 person. Small but functional room with a great breakfast spread and new shower facilities. I loved this little room and the town of Konstanz - near train station but not on a busy through-fare, lots of good people-watching out the window.

For a hastily-booked last-minute trip on a very popular summer travel weekend, it wasn't an awful place to end up.

The location is lovely, on a lively square that is a very short walk from the center of the old town and the lake. The room was clean, functional, basic. The main problem was how stuffy the room was, even at night, even though the outdoor temperatures were rather mild for August. With the windows open and a fan running (having read about this problem in another review, we actually brought our own fan along), it was pleasant enough to sleep, but noise from the street woke us up a couple times per night. Without the fan running, the street noise would have been even worse.

The parking situation is a bit tricky. They have some garage spots which you can reserve (for a reasonable per-night fee), but some of the spots are two cars deep, meaning it could be difficult to access your car during your stay (luckily this was not a problem for us).

Wifi is free but a pain in the butt to use. We gave up on it and just relied on 3G.

Just returned from a trip to Germany and Switzerland.
I had the pleasure of spending three nights at the Goldener Sternen. This is a wonderful family run business.
The location is perfect, walk to Old Town, walk to the lake in just minutes.
The hotel is old, spotlessly clean and well maintained.
Our room was quite spacious with comfortable beds and oh so clean.
Breakfast was very good and there was a great selection to choose from.
We had dinner here on our last night in Konstanz. We saved the best for the last.
Dinner was superb, really an enjoyable meal, great food , great personal service.
A wonderful family that make you feel at home.
I would highly recommend this hotel

Easily reached on foot from the railway station. Our room was facing the road, but no noise to be heard. Right on the edge of the "Old Town" - location is perfect. We only had B&B, the breakfast was excellent. All fresh, wide choice. Room was big enough for 2 people incl. luggage.
Would definitely recommend, and will stay there again next time I'm in Konstanz.

The hotel is run by a fantastic family that will suggest a lot of things to do in the town and around the area.
Our room was very small but all we neeeded was there. The small bathroom was clean. We did only bed and breakfast and I can assure breakfast is very good. The restaurant is cosy but we could't have dinner there. There is a little garage under the hotel but you have to book because there isn't place for everyone
Thereis no lift and the stairs are not very large.
The position is very good because you are very near the centre and the station as well.

We had a very memorable three-night stay at this hotel. The building is certainly distinctive (in pink!) and upon entering, you walk upstairs to the reception and restaurant on the first level. We had booked a parking spot, and my husband was shown into their small garage, just underneath the hotel. The hospitality offered here was warm and unmistakably old-fashioned. We mostly dealt with two older sisters, who had been doing what they do for many decades. They only spoke German, and we did notice that the other guests were almost all German-speaking. A generous breakfast spread was served in the traditional German restaurant complete with white tablecloths and tea or coffee, brought to the table in silverware. Our room (perhaps recently renovated) was, in stark contrast, minimalist, modern and generic, but also comfortable clean and perfectly adequate. The location was fantastic, with plenty of local restaurants, a shopping mall just next door and everything in Konstanz an easy walk away. All in all, an authentic German hospitality experience with loads of character and a convenient location.

We stayed here for 6 nights and found this Hotel to be just as we wanted. We had no need to get a taxi from the Railway Station to the Hotel as it was a short walk away. No lift in the Hotel, the reception is on the first floor and our room was on the second floor so cases had to be carried to these levels. It is a traditional family run Hotel with caring service. There is no air conditioning but a large fan was provided in the room. The room was to the rear so no street noise and it was of suitable size and clean. Breakfast was of a good variety and the Dining Room served as a Restaurant, for evenings. The location is ideal to walk to the Station, Harbour, Shops and all sorts of eating places.

Having seen Goldener Sternen listed as a modest, one star hotel on another popular site, we were hesitant to book here.

We booked anyway because of the location, parking availability and moderate price.

Even though it's on the main road, we missed spotting it as they'd changed the exterior color.

Arrival and parking were tricky, as they never answered the phone. We had to park briefly on the street (with all the difficulty of finding a space) and run to the hotel to get the proprietor to open the garage.

The room, while a bit dated, was clean and comfortable - fine for two people and weekend luggage. The bath was small, but spotless, with adequate towels, soap and hot water.

The breakfast was better than average for a small place, with several breads and rolls, many cheeses and coldcuts, and best of all - smoked fish. The only warm food was boiled eggs on Sunday.

We had dinner at the restaurant, as well, and were quite satisfied.

We'd stay at Goldener Sternen again should we visit Konstanz.

Just returned from our 5 day break to Konstanz. Had a delightful stay at this hotel. We received a wonderful warm welcome from the proprietor Angela, who made us feel very special, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was plentiful, which set us up for the day. This hotel is convenient for train station, buses, shops and the beautiful lake. Evening meal was lovely too. This traditional family run hotel is well worth a stay. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful, it was such a joy to meet Angela. This certainly made our visit to Konstanz memorable. If you want the personal touch with high standards this hotel is a must.
