We stayed in a suite, costing 140 euros a night. Very nice rooms with views of the lake in two directions. The restaurant is run separately to the hotel and serves excellent, fine cuisine. As in many places in Germany, the service is not speedy, especially since the restaurant was full.

Right next to the ferry crossing terminal, our room had a nice view of Lake Konstanz and a small balcony. We must have been upgraded to a suite as our room was huge with a separate sitting room and a king-size bed. Excellent family run hotel - very good hospitality and best continental breakfast we had during our week's trip to Germany!

There’s nothing nicer than evening dinner by a lake with a cool crisp bottle of white wine on a summer’s evening.

We had the summer menu which featured a perfect fish mouse, crispy skinned fillets of fish over a savoury pfifferling (me neither - mushrooms) risotto with a sumptuous chocolate mousse to finish. The perfect light supper for a hot summer’s day.

The setting is fabulous right next to the Lake. Don’t worry that it’s next to the ferry. The ferries are virtually silent.

Warmly recommended.

We stayed at the 'Schiff am See' July 28 - 30, 2006. Hotel itself was fine. Our reservation, through Expedia, was not. I booked a room for 3 (myself and 2 teenage children) and a roll-a-way bed, they had a single room for us - sleeping 1!. The woman who checked us in was accommodating and able to move us to a double room, but could not fit in the roll-a-way, so they placed a small mattress on the floor. Quite crowded, but it worked. Hotel has nice view and easy bus access to town and was comfortable enough, but is quite remote. I would have give the place a decent review until we checked out. The friendly woman who checked us in was in the breakfast room, we were checked out by a man I assume was the manager. When I gave him our key, he commented, 'So you're that one.' I expected that comment would proceed an apology about how they didn't get the reservation right and a enquiry as to whether we were satisfactorily accommodated. Wrong! He went on to inform me that I cannot show up with a reservation for one person and expect a place to accommodate 3. I showed him my confimation for 3 people and the roll-a-way bed, but apparently he didn't consider that sufficient proof that I was not wrong. He explained 'everyone knows' you cannot put an extra bed in a single room and that no way can 3 people stay in one. I calmly explained that I did not request a single room and did indeed have written confirmation of my needs and reservation. He said that didn't matter and that I should not have shown up with an improper reservation. He said I should have contacted the hotel directly to let them know our requests. Actually, I had done that. I emailed the hotel directly 2 weeks before our arrival, but received no reply from them. I did not know I had reserved 'incorrectly' as I have booked using Expedia before without problems. There was no communication issue as I am fluent in German. This man spent 10 minutes telling me I was wrong! I have never had anything like this happen to me at a hotel anywhere before. I was charged for a double room for our two night stay but not charged extra for the mattress on the floor (he told me they were generous providing this). I had no issue with the cost. Although I thought I pre-paid through Expedia, unfortunately I did not have proof with me. I paid the higher rate before leaving. If I was indeed charged twice, I will provide an update. The manager's parting words were that they have had similar problems with bookings before. This came, finally, after 10 minutes of being berated by him. Unfortunately for the hotel, had my check-out gone well, I would have written an entirely different review. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this place.

My wife and I stayed two nights at Hotel Schiff in Konstanz in early March.
Our room was on the first floor, overlooking the lake. The view was gorgeous: the sun glows red as it rises through the morning mist and at night, the lights of Meersburg across the lake, and of the ferries were captivating.
The room was quite big, with a big, comfortable bed and a good wifi service. Minibar prices were surprisingly cheap. Good heating; reasonable bathroom. No noise at all.
The breakfast was standard. Dinner in the restaurant was outstanding: attentive, helpful service, with a good recommendation of local wine to try. The food was of very high standard. 130 euros for three including a bottle of superb wine seemed good value.
Location is good. It is 50 metres from the ferry terminal (to Meersburg, across the lake) and 30 metres from a bus-stop: there is a frequent bus service (No.1 bus) into Konstanz that takes about 15 minutes and is free if you stay at the hotel.

We spent two nights at this hotel. Had to book a suite in order to get a view to the see since the standard room booked through Donau Touristic was of such a poor quality (due to the price Donau is willig to pay per room !) that we didn't want to stay there for two days.
However the service from the hotel staff was excellent and very friendly so nothing to complain about regading the hotel. If you want to eat lunch/dinner in the area there is a fish shop next to the hotel that serves very nice meals and drinks at very affordable prices :-)

Situated just by the harbor with the bus stop to the city center and the ferry to Meersburg only one minute away, the location of the hotel coudn't be better. The receptionist is exceptionally friendly and helpful, and that's where the good news end. The rooms are tiny and the bathroom is very, very outdated, only the towels are even tinier than the bath room; there is not even enough shower gel provided. Screws are missing on the wardrobe. Whilst many hotels offer fresh apples for their guests, here the apples are fake, both at reception and in the restaurant. The breakfast buffet is average at best, and is not replenished not even at request. Unfortunately, this hotel is not good value for money.

I brought 40 people from Australia to this wonderful hotel and could not have been happier. The service was great Maria and Susanne could not have helped us more. The restaurant food was delicious and the wait staff were incredible. Air conditioning would have made it 100% perfect, however fans were supplied to us and this helped. Will return with another group in the near future.

Ringhotel is nicely located next to the Bodensee. Friendly staff at reception.
I had room 9. Slept really good! Disadvantage is the TV, cannot watch TV from bed.
View on the lake from own balcony.
Next to the hotel are a Fish shop/restaurant and a post restaurant.
Ferry to Meersburg is also a neighbour.
Free parking in front of hotel. Free WiFi included but weak signal in my room.
For business people there is a disadvantage, breakfast starts from 7.15am. Far too late for me.

As I already wrote about the restaurant, the hotel is just as great!! You always feel that you are part of a big family! The breakfast is fabulous and dinners are as well. My room was spic & span...which means immaculate!
Beds are so comfortable and the views will blow your mind! The owner's really go all out to make you feel right at home! I really love this place and can't wait to return!
