Beautiful old historic hotel with lots of history. The staff are wonderful and will help you in any way they can. If you would like a kettle for your room you only have to ask at reception. It's in a lovely quiet area but just a few minutes walk to the main town area. Breakfast is outstanding and it has great choice and super fresh ingredients too, a pleasure to wake up to. Don't be put off by the old facade of the building because inside it has everything you would find in a modern hotel..

We made a mistake in booking the Graf Zeppelin as it is not a hotel. We booked through Booking.com an "apartment" for one night to include breakfast for 159.30 euros. On arrival we were told it was on the fifth floor, but the lift only went to the fourth floor. We were not offered any help with our suitcases. We took the lift to the fourth floor and walked up to the fifth with our cases, to discover that the apartment is one floor higher....in other words 2 flights of stairs with your luggage. (Is this a hotel?) On climbing up to the apartment, there were many noticeable issues: the bedroom does not have a window!! It has a high up porthole with no curtain or way of blocking the light, but no window! The bed was almost on the floor. The room was not clean There was no aircon, and at the top of the building on a day when it was 33c this was no place to stay. We booked elsewhere, accepting that we would lose our money and the hotel tried to charge us in full for the booking. I pointed out that we would not be having breakfast and that should be deducted from the total and the receptionist reduced this by 12 euros to 147.30. Assuming the breakfast was going to be like everything else in this dump it was hardly a surprise. So our strong advice if staying in Konstanz is to give this hostel a wide berth......readers of our reviews will see that we have stayed at hotels across Europe and nowhere comes anywhere close to this place for awfulness.

Ranking 1 is only because of great breakfast. My appartment is on „6th floor”. You can get to 4th floor by elevator, so 2 more floors you have to do on your foot. Extreamly hot in my room - my swiss chocolate melted during the night. Very small bathroom. I couldn’t sleep during the night. Unbearable during hot weather. The price is far too exoensive for accomodation quality.

(Wish I could make 4.5 bubbles - temperature control and related traffic noise was for us a problem). + Location just off old town + great historic building + Staff - friendly and diligent, taking Covid professionally + Breakfast - really good, good coffee (only minus: pancakes served cold) + Bedding - Temperature control in room - to try to regulate the temperature we had to leave the windows open, which meant lots of noise. (I had to shout out the window to partying neighbours on their balcony - but they were quite nice and quieted immediately).

LOCATION: very central, in the middle of the Old Town, but still quiet (1’ by foot to the shopping street(s), 6’ by foot to the lake) ROOMS: neither stylish nor very modern, but absolutely fine; comfortable beds; spacious room, rather tiny bathroom; we had a corner room with 2 windows which I appreciated a lot STAFF: some were friendly or even very friendly, some seemes not too motivated BREAKFAST: delicious – I didn’t expect such a good breakfast for that price; there’s everything I need: a lot of fresh fruit (melon, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, ...), different granola and oatmeals, excellent bread and one morning, the even had soy milk :) VALUE FOR MONEY: excellent – if you’re looking for a hotel in the centre of Konstanz, this is definitely my recommendation

This hotel was booked for us by our biking company. Here is our feedback: Pros: great location in the old downtown, quiet, comfortable beds, friendly staff, nice breakfast, beautiful historic lobby, secure bike storage. Cons: do not get put on the 5th floor, the elevator only goes to the 4th floor, under staffed, no air conditioning, rooms small and stuffy on warm days, mold in showers.

We stayed at the Graf Zeppelin on three nights whilst cycling around Lake Constance (340 miles). The location is superb, the breakfast abundant and varied. Easy access to the Altstadt and the cycling lanes leading out of town. But for me the thing that really set them apart was their depth of care for their guests. They always went the extra mile to ensure our comfort and that our needs were met. I had come off of business in Bonn, so I was traveling with a heavy bag of electronics. They offered to secure them in their office — no talk of charge. We had our little dog, a 4 pound Yorkie with us. No problem, no extra charge. Always a smile and an easy solution to any need. I can’t thank them enough and am eager for my next visit.

This is a funny little hotel. For all its faults, I quite liked it. The first challenge is to find the front door. It is tucked away in the corner of the square. It took me a while. I had looked on the web site and decided the only room that was free on my nights that wasn't tiny was a quadruple room. It was very nice, if expensive, with windows on two sides, and didn't feel too big for one person. The decor wasn't fancy, but most things that you needed were there. The bed was fine. The buffet breakfast was really good, and well laid out without having to corwd to get to things. I don't think the restaurant was open in the evenings. Now for the down sides. Some reception staff were nice and others weren't. And the cleaning staff really let the hotel down. My room wasn't cleaned properly - for example the bin wasn't emptied - and the cleaners left random pieces of equipment in the corridors, and even in a little quadrangle downstairs that would have looked lovely with some plants in it. And the hotel is quite a walk from the station if you have luggage-although it's certainly easier going downhill back to the station than uphill to the hotel!

This small hotel is conviniently located in the pedestrian area just a few minutes walk from the railway station. The friendly reception desk staff provides you a warm welcome. The rooms are not that large, but they are neat and clean. The buffet breakfast is very good, the dependable German style. Good value.

This is a nice hotel and we had a nice stay here. The elevators are a challenge especially when you are a family and have few luggages, but it is alright. The restaurant was descent and served good food. There was also a flea market just outside the hotel in the morning selling fresh fruits, vegetables and other products and it was quite an experience to visit the street market.
