Wonderful holidays begin here with church bells ringing, a hint of green meadows and the mild glow that is so typical of Lake Constance. The delicate scent of freshly baked bread is in the air. And there is always a sense of undreamt of lightness. Go to the sauna or go cycling, continue dozing or go for a hike, stroll or sunbathe? Good question – what do you want to do first?Among spa guests, the Krone Schnetzenhausen in the lovely Lake Constance hinterland is an insider tip. Where else can you find a Mediterranean pool area and sauna, solarium, steam bath and whirlpool, spacious spa areas, OASIS SUN SPA and a hairdresser, the hotel’s own covered tennis courts, a fitness centre, indoor and outdoor swimming pools with a sunbathing lawn, mini golf and bicycles for hire, bowling alley and billiards in such a splendid garden area and within a hotel?

I was a little worried at first, this is such a big hotel and we had been staying at smaller ones during our 5 week touring holiday of Germany. I thought that the service and food could not possibly be as good as the smaller guest houses and that it would be a bit “manic” but was proven wrong. Our room was very nice, clean and the most comfortable bed we had the whole holiday, nice pillows and air conditioning that actually blew out cool air and worked!! The shower was amazing. We found the internet to be very good. There are different elevators and the room at first was not easy to find. We opted for a 3 day package of 5 course meal. Each night a different starter, soup and salad (no choice but always very good), choice of main course, usually meat, fish or vegetarian and choice of 2 desserts. You are given the same table each evening. There are several different dining rooms all with an individual feel and all very nice. The wine list was extensive to say the least, we opted for local German wines which were all very good. Liked the fact that each course was served with a decent gap in between so you were not rushed. For two of the nights we had a young waiter, think his name was Maximilian, he was put on our table as his English was the best of all the staff and we were the only English speaking guests they had had in a while. The service he gave us was very polished and we really felt well looked after. The breakfast was served in several different rooms but with a buffet area in each room so never far to go. They had an area were you could get fresh cooked eggs or omelettes which was a nice touch. Everything you would expect on the buffet and everything replenished promptly. Got to say the only thing I did not like, for me, was the coffee and I could not seam to make a decent cup of tea even though they had English breakfast. The other thing was that they did not seam to have hand sanitiser in all the rooms, sharing serving utensils is never good at the best of times, they had plastic gloves that you could use although most guest did not use them, I would strongly suggest that you do, for your safety, we are still living in Covid times even though we are all vaccinated. No the hotel is not near the lake but the lake is huge and you still have to drive to the different areas if you want to do everything. The hotel provides a good base for most things and at a good price. Ample parking both outside and indoor garage. There are swimming pools and spas which we did not use. There are two bars which can be easily missed downstairs in the basement, both with a different vibe and very good efficient service and good prices for the drinks. Really can not fault the service, everyone so very friendly at this hotel even the lovely guys making the omelettes at breakfast, the staff worked really hard to make sure everything ran like clockwork. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return if ever in the area.

The variety of activities was very good but needs some modernization to be competitive. For example. There was a large tennis court which guests could use for free but the racquets and balls were poor quality. It would be better if they charge a nominal fee to use the equipment and upgrade the equipment. The hotel itself is a maze as it seems to have grown organically over the years. This could be a bit problematic for people with mobility issues or those with larger luggage as you need to take stairs everywhere between half-levels. The half-Pension dinners for 45 euros seemed like a good value for 5 courses but the quality left a bit to be desired. The breakfast buffet was a bit thin and spread out over 3 different areas. On the first day, they ran out of cheese for the tiny egg station and the second day they ran out of granola cereal. A bit strange for such a large hotel. The rooms were spacious and the air conditioning was important to have as the noise from the road was so loud it was difficult to sleep with the windows open at night. One big detraction was that the lack of carpet or floor covering meant that the wooden furniture „rattled“ when people in rooms above, below, or next door walked around. The spa area was a bit basic. My husband and I got massages but there was just a curtain or thin partition between the rooms so you could hear everything the other person was saying. Not so relaxing for those looking to disconnect. My son and his friend also had massages)16 years old) and said the masseuses treated them like children and stroked their skin lightly rather than trying to release the muscle tensions. This was disappointing after having biked 150 km the previous days… In sum, our stay was ok but not impressive.

The hotel offers a "Champagne-Dreams"-deal including a 'comfort room', breakfast buffet, five course dinner and a free ticket for the Zeppelin-Museum - priced at EUR 117.50 per night (single).

The breakfast buffet is excellent and beautifully presented; the dinner is, however, a very slow and pretty average affair - at one stage drinks took over thirty minutes to arrive.

The 'comfort room' I was given was fairly small and very drab - dark, depressing furniture chipped in places, not all appliances in working order, the mattress worn out, the chair on the balcony on the brink of collapse. Despite the summer heat there was no airconditioning, not even a fan. Complaints about the lack of comfort in a 4-star-'comfort room' were only snappily responded to.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the hotel, despite its generally very beautiful appearance and the clean and nicely designed facilities. The place is a service desert hiding behind a nice facade.

We had orginally booked into the Zeppelin Hotel via the Zeppelin-NT website, but they cancelled our reservation without our knowledge and we ended up at the Krone. It is a hundred times better than the Zeppelin Hotel.

It is a delightful hotel with big rooms, comfortable, electrically-adjustable beds, balconies in all the rooms and excellent facilities. The buildings are modern, well-designed and sumptuously furnished. They have indoor and outdoor pools, spa and fitness center, several bars, a small bowling alley, minigolf and covered parking. There was a complimentary champagne happy hour the night we arrived. Our two girls had a blast there, and so did we. Meals were excellent. The pools and fitness facility were great, especially the indoor pool with poolside bar. The staff was very friedly and helpful.

It is out of town, but close to the Friedrichshafen airport and easy access by car to the whole Bodensee area.

Highly recommended.

We chose this hotel for the beginning and end of our touring holiday of Bavaria and Austria last summer with our two teenagers. We wanted to be near Friedrichshafen airport but not in a town and this hotel was ideal. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable, the indoor and outdoor swimming pools clean and a good size. A large hotel but we didn't find it impersonal and the staff were friendly and helpful. Very good restaurant and excellent breakfasts. Easy access to Friedrichshafen and the main routes around Lake Constance and to the motorway to Bregenz and on to Austria.

Really perfect place to relax. Close to lake but far enough away from the busy areas. Family charm. Stay here if you have the chance. Breakfast leaves you with a sense of fulfillment and the staff gets your morning started with positivity. The staff in every part of the hotel are friendly and smiling.

Recently stayed here for a few days with work. I have ti say that the hotel was right up my street. Outside of the main city of Friedrichshafen by a few miles in the small village called Schnetzenhausen. The hotel is typically German alpine style with lots of carved wood panelling and female staff all dressed in German dirndls.

Overall I would say the hotel was excellent. Rooms nicely sized and lots have balconies. All are air-conditioned (although over 4 days I never managed to find the controls for mine lol and assumed the remote control had gone missing - when asked at reception they told be it should be a wall control and not a remote .... well every inch of wall was inspected and no controls found!!! Luckily not particularly hot so no biggie, but they did loose a star for not coming to inspect the room following my discussions with reception staff!!

Food excellent - ate there twice , deer on one occasion and lake constance fish platter on the 2nd and both were excellent. Coupled with the Harvester style help yourself salad buffet which had lots of German specialities like sauerkraut and pickled vegetables all delicious.

Beer plentiful and weiss beer particularly good, several bars exit in the hotel including Gerhards bar who has been around for years and serves a mean cocktail. Fitness and swimming pool included and certainly the pool looked lovely .... didnt see the fitness area.

Complimentary bottle of schnapps (or water —— Why lol) on departure is a nice touch.

Great place to stay ... hopefully back again next year !!

The hotel is clean and comfortable. I stayed in a single room, it was a bit small but ok. TV did not have any foreign language chanels. So only way to learn about the news was internet. Although WiFi is free in the hotel, the reception was very poor in my room (102). I had to use internet in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was very tasty and the omelette of your choice and fresh orange juice was also included. The hotel is far from Friedrichshafen centre so if you don't have car you have to take taxi. It costs around 13-14 Euros. There might be buses but since our time was limited we didn't try to find out about bus schedule.
Overall I liked my stay in this hotel and I recommend it for future travellers.

(+) spacey rooms, free Internet, plenty of free parking, good included breakfast, charming common spaces & facilities, separated room toilet, very friendly and helpful staff, most of the time good restaurant

(-) complicated house orienteering, a big appearance difference between common spaces and private rooms, no refill for room cosmetics, narrow bathroom, not the best location, sometimes the cook seems to be deep in love (salty meals)
