Even the drive there is an adventure in its own right. If possible, take the approach road from the south that starts in a village called Ottersweier. It takes you through wonderful vineyards along winding roads that give you ever increasing views of the Rhine Valley below. During summer you can enjoy the outdoor part of the hotel, service is... We (mixed couple UK / DE, living in Switzerland) met with friends from the UK for a weekend in October 2015 at Burg Windeck with 2 double rooms (135 € per room incl. breakfast) booked. 1 of them (ours, luck of the draw) was one of the two hotel suites with a huge balcony around and a fantastic view across... The Burg Windeck is a charming hotel situated high above Buhl, Germany. I really enjoyed exploring the grounds, hotel and on premise old castle. The nearby hiking looked to be amazing. The front desk was great. It was nice to go back in time a bit and enjoy the surroundings. PROS 1. Great Views of the Rhine Valley and city... More

I recently stayed at this hotel on a business trip from the UK. Absolutely fantastic in every way. Great room with a stunning view. Great evening meal and German beers. Great breakfast. So clean and peaceful. More like a mini break than a business trip. I will return for a short break with my wife at some point.

the hotel service and welcome was great , the room ( although a bit basic ) was clean well presented and had a view across the Rhine valley towards Strasbourg . I liked the restaurant and food and in warm weather the terrace with views would be great for a drink and meal . I also appreciate the woodland walks... More

Great place to stay if you enjoy rustic living. No fancy all-glass elevators, marble floors or jacuzzi's, just good old German hospitality and quality food. Place is family owned and they truly made me feel at home during my one week stay at Windeck. Historic castle is part of the grounds, panorama from restaraunt deck of top of the tower... More

We spent 3 days at the Hotel while visiting the area and loved it. We had my Dad and his wife traveling with us and we chose this location as the surprise stay to celebrate their anniversary. My Dad and I had visited Germany in 1984 and we both fell in love with the Rhine Valley. The hotel sits high... More

Lovely castle hotel with reasonable rooms, with a modern clean bathroom, an older CRT TV, a minibar (which was empty), a small safe and a comfortable bed. The work table was a little small but did the job. The restaurant had great food and drinks with visitors coming just for the food. The castle has a car park opposite with... More

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. The location is perfect with a lovely view, quiet area and still very easy reachable from the highway. The restaurant is excellent, everything freshly made and high standards. We got a very spacious room with a very comfortable baby cot for our daughter, she slept wonderfully in it. The only negative point... More

Stayed here in 2010 to attend a wedding nearby - flew London to Stuttgart and picked up a hire car - hotel easy to find at the top of a hill so great views of the vineyards and surrounding countryside.
