“Le port d’attache” is a charming provençal house perched above Vallauris overlooking the bay of Nice (Baie des anges) and the snow topped mountains nearby. Ideally situated in the heart of the Cote d’azur between Cannes (10 minutes away) and Antibes, you will be warmly welcomed amidst grape vines, fruit and olive trees. The calm and relaxing atmosphere of the house and gardens offers a welcome retreat from an otherwise busy day of sightseeing or meetings. And there is a pool to cool off. We have four comfortable and individually decorated rooms each with its own bathroom en-suite.

Enjoy the trappings of millionaire villa living without the annual cost… Honeysuckle aromas, evening frog chorus in May requires no other entertainment, multiple terraces, pool.
Fabulous host who made us really welcome and was attentive without being overbearing … felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Fantastic breakfast with full selection of bread, cheese, charcuterie, boiled egg, muesli and yoghurt with stunning views set us up for the chill out by the pool. Simply gorgeous!

Almost hidden on a mountain above Vallauris the Villa Port d' Attache unveils as a secret gem. Imagine to lie in bed overlooking the bay between Antibes and Cannes, be it early in the morning at sunrise or late at night with the sparkling lights of the village and bay below. And: It is real! A room decorated with superb taste is your home port within Port d’ Attache. As the rooms bear the names of the five winds Mistral, Libeccio, Sirocco, Tramontane and Ponant, you easily are tempted to "ask the evening wind / where happiness begins" (Francoise Hardy in the sixties) – it begins right here.

Dream of a breakfast almost in heaven above houses, landscape and sea: It is real as well! Be spoiled by Gillian’s and Daniel’s breakfast, sit on the terrace with a quietly burbling fountain behind you, enjoy a French toast or other treats well presented on designer’s china with silver cutlery – again for your eyes!
Enjoy the stunning view and decide on what to do during the day accordingly. Going East to Grasse, Biot, Nice, back via Antibes? Going West to Cannes or further? So many villages to explore, so many museums to visit (yes, many artists left their traces) and even more restaurants, brasseries and alike to go to.

Gillian and Daniel are caring hosts, always ready to spoil you or give advice on activities. Even if you return home, tired in the evening, you may encounter another friendly guest and find yourself in a compelling conversation instead of going to bed …

I hesitate to write this startling review because I want to make sure that I can stay here everytime I return to the Riviera... I want to make sure there is a room available. This place is magnificent with views that take your breath away. The villa is tucked up in the hills of the Riviera overlooking the mediterranean sea. A cool breeze blows through the windows day-and-night. The property is impeccable both inside and out. There is a pool and everything you need for your comfort. The owners are delightful, extremely knowledgeable regarding the area and helpful. The beaches, restaurants and sites are just a short drive from the villa. I can't wait to return.

We began our 2 week journey in Vallauris at Villa Port d’ Attache. This was easily the best and most welcoming B&B experience through our many years of travel. A fine property run by a wonderful couple that work very hard to provide their guests with a special experience. The property’s gorgeous hillside location, views and quality of the home, it’s decor and rooms is perfect.

Gillian and Daniel are outstanding hosts with simply the most beautiful B&B. The views from their patio over the Cote d'Azur are some of the most outstanding we have seen. The villa is as inviting as the hosts. The rooms are spacious with nice updated bathrooms, everything is extremely clean and very comfortable beds. Breakfasts were filled with everything one would want. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone. It is a little difficult to find but make sure you follow the instructions Gillian sends to you and you should not have any problems.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights at the end of April because we had been invited to a friends birthday party locally. The hosts of the party recommended some hotels near the party venue but luckily I had been looking on Trip Advisor and found this amazing little gem of a B&B , thank god I did because the other party goers just booked the hotels without checking !!! They were all gutted when I told them how amazing Villa Le Port d'Attache was.
Let me set the scene !! You arrive at the huge wrought iron gates and then drive through a little wooded area to the car park . You go down steps past the pool to the Villa, gorgeous .Lovely grounds, terraces where you sit and have breakfast . The views are fantastic , I could not fault the accomodation whatsoever . Gillian and her husband could not of been more friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions etc . We woke up every morning with the sun shining and just the most amazing views , breathtaking . We will be back one day, and can't wait . Thank you for our wonderful weekend .

We recently spent three nights with Gillian. The location and views are beautiful. Gillian was more than helpful with recommendations for restaurants, day trips, a wine tour and a pesky passport issue. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. We will be sure to return.

A real quality B&B, and superb relaxing environment. We are so glad we stayed. Set into the hillside with wonderful panoramic views over the town way below, and to the sea in the distance, the Villa is peaceful, secluded, spacious, and simply gorgeous. The decor oozes quality and our room was equally luxurious – immaculate and with a big comfortable bed and fluffy pillows, quality decor and furnishings, an equally immaculate and well furnished bathroom - and superb panoramic views from the shuttered windows. We stayed in October this year, and on arrival were met by the owners Gillian and Daniel and their placid boxer dog “Tess” and helped with our bags to our room. And after a relaxing chat with them over coffee on the garden terrace about the area and places and restaurants to visit, were given a tour of the property. They couldn’t have been more helpful. Breakfasts on the terrace by the lawn in the mornings were a wonderful start to the day - complete with a seemingly never ending supply of piping hot coffee! And everything fresh each morning which, Gillian told us, is due to her daily early morning jaunt to the town to buy it. Don’t miss the opportunity to relax by the secluded pool - highly recommended if you really want to get away from it all relaxing on a comfortable lounger in the sun with a good book. The only thing you will hear is the chirping of the birds! And a tip if you fancy a trip out, or dinner without the hassle of taking a car; - the villa is really handy for getting to Cannes, Mougins or Antibes by bus. We took the No 18 one day, which we picked up at the bottom of the garden – and were in Cannes in around ten minutes! We wished we had been able to stay at the Villa longer than a few days. We will definitely be going back again soon.

Location:

Up high on a hill in Vallaurius, very quiet with nothing around, car essential. Close to Antibes and Cannes (20 mins drive)

Rooms:

Very comfortable, finished to high standard.

Price:

Fair to good value, the place is nice but obviously very secluded no where near Cannes or Antibes in terms of strolling out so does not attract that premium

Host:

Rather frosty to say the least, we spilt something on the sheets which resulted in a very awkward atmosphere for the remainder of our stay (unavoidable as the guest rooms are embedded in the house which the owners and their family inhabit), the host even demanded more money to be paid which I thought rather unprofessional as cleaning should be an incidental cost included in the total room price! The host made a point of not giving us breakfast on the last day because of the sheet issue which left a very bitter taste in the mouth. NOT the sort of service I am used to for paying these amounts.

Conclusion:

Tranquil 'get away from it all' location and nice property, but experience tarnished by the curt and petty nature of the host. I don't pay to get treated like a child at most places I stay.

Response from gillyjr, proprietaire at Villa Le Port d'Attache
Responded 28 Jul 2009
Firstly, I would like to thank Mr. R, who stayed at the villa for two nights, for his favorable appreciation of the high standard of the villa and the other positive points made in his critic. However, the difference in our perception of service is regrettable. Unfortunately, what was not mentioned was the warm welcome, the personal organization of his dinner arrangements, the serving of breakfast outside of scheduled hours at 2.45pm, the daily cleaning of the rooms…. Breakfast was not served on the last day as they only surfaced at 2.30pm despite the fact that check out was at 11am. The serving of breakfast so late the previous day was exceptional and must remain so to ensure the smooth functioning of the villa. An expensive Provencal bedcover and NOT a simple SHEET, was permanently stained and so had to finally be replaced at a cost close to the price of their two night stay, so could not be considered as an “incidental cost included in the total room price”. His contribution of 10 Euros was rather, a token gesture. I am quite baffled with regard to Mr R’s reference to the “awkward atmosphere for the remainder of our stay” as I actually didn’t see them from the time they were served their late breakfast to the time they checked out. Incidentally, our rooms are not “embedded in the house which the owners inhabit” as I have my own separate and private apartment and the guests have access to their own lounge area. Furthermore, if I could also take this opportunity to mention to readers that there is the number 18 bus that can be taken from the bottom of the garden to the centre of Cannes within 10 minutes for those that do not want to bother with parking in town.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Gillian and Daniel did everything to make our stay memorable. The breakfast was amazing, eggs well prepared by Daniel! Fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants... Inside or outside, always with a fantastic view. Also fun to be at the table with the other guests in the morning and sharing each others experience of the past days. And oh yes, Lucy, the dog. Soo sweet and well educated! We would definitely advice everyone to come here. Thank you Gillian and Daniel for your hospitality.
