Detailed Reviews
The location of the hotel is perfect! It's a beachfront location on the Baltic Sea and a few minutes drive to the castle and city center. There is also a nice path along the sea to take long walks.
My husband and I stayed in the Elizabeth suite, which was gorgeous. It was very spacious with a bedroom (comfortable bed), separate living room, large bathroom and a guest restroom. There were plenty of comfortable chairs and couches to sit on. It is one of cleanest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in, and my husband who is very picky, fully agreed. Everything looked very new and it was spotless. We had a sea view. Unfortunately, there was scaffolding by our balcony because they were doing some renovations, but we were still able to see the water. Plus, they gave us 20% off our stay.
All staff were helpful and friendly. My husband and I wanted to eat out breakfast in our room each morning and they were very accommodating. The breakfast buffet was one of the most complete buffets I have seen during COVID. There were plenty of choices of rolls/bread, cheese, eggs, meats, cereal, yogurt, fruit and juices.
I would definitely recommend staying here!

My room was excellent in comfort, spotlessly clean and with a nice large balcony directly facing sea. Food, during the evening and during breakfast, was of a high standard. Also a big compliment to the friendly and competent staff. It is wonderful strolling outside the hotel at the sea in this little town.
It should be a five star recommendation, so here is the but... Instead of rurally outside- just the sea & the seagulls as ambient sound and people at the promenade- the first evening there was a bachelor party going on in front at the beach restaurant. Can't blame the hotel for this, but next day the same flock of people had booked the hotel as the wedding location. In the afternoon with the official ceremony directly in the hotel garden, with amplified sound rolling all over the place. A foul singer for hours made the non-tranquillity complete. Late at night, after their diner, the wedding party rolled out over the hotel, with children running at 11 PM loudly through the corridors and wedding guest to start yelling their good bye's. At 3.30 AM, remaining guests decided to walk to the beach for a drunk sing, while others bumped their way to the closed terrace for a chat. Directly under my hotel room.
I can't blame the hotel to accommodate such celebrations, and the wedding guests to have a splendid time. But, paying EUR 289 per night with expectation to have a rural weekend sea experience, didn't came out. I will come back at some time, because the place is great. When the hotel confirms there are no (huge) parties planned as such at these days.

For six nights I paid 850€ – for a studio room, no larger than 20 sqm incl. bathroom:
Pros:
- Location
- Balcony
- Water pressure
- Breakfast
- Reliable and fast cleaning
Cons:
- Spartan furnishings
- Ancient TV set
- No bathtub (for a total of +800€!)
- Cheapest fittings, partially defective
- Dirty windows
- Bad curtains (close hard)
- Minibar prices (e.g. 5€ for "chocolate almonds", 100g)
- grains of sand on the floor and in bed
Other:
- Unfriendly, hard-working staff
- Very clairvoyant
- Walking distance to nothing; supermarket miles away
- Breakfast closes at 10:00 and is quite monotonous
- The fitness and wellness offer is only open until 18:00
Moreover, the price is not justified in terms of the service offered.
Conclusion: Ein edles Hostel.
I recommend booking at a decent hotel in Flensburg. It's not worth it. Lean and disappointing.
Addition on 24.07.24: In response to this review, hotel manager Mr. Haas is threatening “very unpleasant” legal consequences — that’s really all a potential guest needs to know.
Incidentally, after this outrage, I believe that the owner should quickly enforce a renewal of the position of hotel manager in order to improve the service and satisfaction of guests in the future.
The style and seriousness of Mr. Haas is representative of the experience I had at this regrettable hostel.

The place is nice but food is very poor and the management is really bad especially the very arrogant restaurant/hotel manager Andreas Wargnert. We was there with our mom 75 years old which had a voucher most of the amount was spend on a trip in 2021. Due to corona she has not been back since and with a pen and stamp they have wrote on the voucher the remaining amount but no expiry date. After our lunch my mom wanted to pay with the voucher which was half the amount we spend. The manager said we could not use it as it has expired but there was no expiry date on. I talked to the recpetion and the guy behind the desk understood us and agreed to deduct the amount then the manager came and over ruled it and said due to german law its valid 12 months and we could not use the voucher. He said maybe his former collegue had made a mistake but he was not there at that time and i said yes but then you and the hotel need to be responsible for that mistake not us. But he stood firm that german law voucher is only 12 month we are from Denmark were voucher is valid 3 years and we dont know german law. I think its very bad service and management and I think this is a big mistake for such an amount to risk the reputation of their hotel. We will never go again!!

Response from Strandhotel Glücksburg, Owner at Strandhotel Glucksburg
Responded 27 Dec 2023
Dear Mr. BackPacker, We regret the discrepancies and misunderstandings regarding your voucher, the remaining amount of which you unfortunately could not redeem. We also understand your need for clarification, which you raised after your visit to our restaurant. However, we must point out the following for clarification: 1. Your voucher had expired more than 2 years after its initial 3-year validity period, as per German legislation (voucher was bought in 2019). We had, as a gesture of goodwill and due to lockdown-related circumstances, extended the validity for an additional 12 months. Unfortunately, this extension had also expired when you last visited our restaurant with your mother. 2. In response to your review, we have thoroughly researched the entire matter and concluded that our staff made no administrative errors in handling your voucher. In addressing such incidents, we always strive for objectivity and a correct representation of events. 3. Throughout our team, we place great importance on maintaining a friendly and, as mentioned, objective tone, even when discussing unpleasant matters. However, in cases of aggressive and offensive remarks towards our staff, we enforce appropriate measures to prevent disruptions for our other, very satisfied guests. Regrettably, we are now unable to offer you a gesture of further accommodation, as you indicated in the closing sentence of your review that you will be avoiding our establishment in the future. Nevertheless, we wish you a peaceful and healthy New Year!

We have frequently been staying at this hotel and we really feel "home away from home". Friendly staff, clean rooms, wellness facilities, great food, great location.
It's obvious the staff appreciates loyal guests - we have established personal relationships with the restaurant manager (Andreas Wingert) and Marc Kolczak in the reception and we could probably mention even more individuals.
Final comment will be a suggestion for improvement:
Please consider Danish as a languge when it comes to menu as we have already experienced lots of Danes in the hotel. Your homepage has Danish as an option :-)
Alternatively, please make sure all staff will have basic English skills as some of us are from the Copenhagen areas, and we don't have German as a natural second language :-)

What a beautiful hotel! The location by the sea, the large, brightly decorated room with balcony and sea view, the very good restaurant in a large and bright room and, last but not least, the friendly and attentive people who work in the hotel, everything contributes to a deep sense of well-being. The nice thing is that the hotel does not make itself important like some other hotels that give the impression that they and not the guests are the focus. Right in front of the hotel is the beach with beach chairs and a path that you can walk or cycle to the next bays. Our short stay was pure joy. We will definitely come back, for the hotel and the restaurant.

We stayed at this beautiful Seaside Pension on the road to North Jutland, the drive being long from France.
The large room has a direct view of the beach and the Baltic Sea, which is very nice.
In addition, we have chosen to dine in the Inn’s restaurant, which offers gourmet cuisine with a variety of dishes oriented towards the sea, a beautiful menu accompanied by the right wines.
Finally, the team is very friendly both at the Pension and the restaurant.
In short, a pleasant and necessary stopover in Schleswig Holstein for travellers to Scandinavia.

A fantastic stay where the friendly and competent service was top notch..
There was service and a fantastic atmosphere.
The hotel is beautiful and everything is perfectly clean..
The only thing is a little confusion regarding which stay we were on / had booked..
Both when we came for dinner .. and when we came for breakfast ... have you booked a table we are asked .. was there an aperitif included in the stay or not etc ... it could be nice if the staff checked which stay the different companies were on order on their own website
But otherwise everything was including a fantastic waiter for dinner so...5 stars from us.

Unfortunately we could not take advantage of our Booking Referral due to a car breakdown. The hotel did not show any collage, but charged the maximum cancellation amount of 90% of the nightly rate. Very customer-unfriendly.
