The hotel has one of the best spots you can imagine in Meersburg. Right next to the lake and at the beginning of the see promenade. We could park the car in front of the hotel to check in (and also when checking out) which was nice because it is in a pedestrian area and the parking lot was on a 5 minutes walk. A parking spot in the parking lot (via the hotel) costs 12 EUR a day but is an almost necessary option because parking in Meersburg is almost impossible and this is the cheapest option. The room was okay. Old-fashioned and outdated but bed slept fine and shower was small but with a good water pressure. We were at the entrance/lobby site of the hotel and therefore had a lake view, really nice!
Breakfast was good and from the breakfast area you have a view on the lake.

We visited the restaurant twice. It's such a nice setting, with tables under umbrellas right next to the water, or inside in the comfortable dining room. The service was excellent: fast and friendly.
We chose vegetarian dishes. The food was so delicious, better than most vegetarian cooking; very imaginative and great value. Highly recommended.

The location of this hotel could not be better. Right on the water and the promenade. Staff was wonderful. But our big problem with it were all the bugs in the room. By that I mean, bugs that fly in the window which you must open for air flow (no air conditioning). I realize bugs are common near the water but this hotel really needs to put up window screens.

We took one day off to go to Meersburg with all the family. We decided to choose a nice restaurant by the shore of Bodensee... We ordered 4 dishes. They brought one wrong which we returned and they never brought the right dish back. My dish they totally forgot. So basically out of four people, only two ate and the experience was terrible. Of course they charged and didn't even try to fix the terrible time they made us have as a family.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights over 6 months ago and booked a suite. When we arrived we were told the room had a problem with the bathroom and it would be fixed by the next day. We thought nothing of this until we were put in a much lower class room. When we asked if we could look at the suite, we were told we couldn't until 11am the next day. This raised our suspicions and we asked them if there really was a problem with the bathroom or was it that they overbooked the room. Still they insisted it was a bathroom issue until finally the girl caved and admitted they had given it to someone else. What made it worse was that they then offered to move us to a renovated room (less than the suite but much nicer than the crappy room they put me, my husband and 2 year old in). If they had just been honest from the beginning and offered us the renovated but smaller room we would have been ok but the lying and then putting us in the worst possible room really ruined the experience. On top of it all, the renovated room was so hot that it was oppressive and neither us or our 2 year old could sleep. This was even with the fan on that they provided us. That is saying alot given we are from Australia and used to the heat.

In any event, we cut our 2 night stay short and only stayed the 1 night.

To give some positives, the views from the room were spectacular and the breakfast staff were friendly and breakfast was ample and delicious. Once we called them out in their lie, they were trying to do right by us and gave us a discounted rate which was appreciated. If only they had been honest from the beginning!

All in all, it is very expensive for what it is and I wouldn't stay there again.

Meersburg is an idyllic place and, since we wanted to have a special room with direct view on the lake, we went for the Hotel zum Schiff which is right on the lake.
Unfortunately too many things went wrong. Let's see what together:

RECEPTION
Not particularly friendly but that was the lesser evil of the story.

ROOM
We thought for once we splash out on a suite. The suite cost us 170 Euro per night and comes with an enclosed balcony. There is a not-very-well-working and not-very-easy-to-open-and-close sliding door between the room itself and the balcony. The problem is that all 3 suites share the same enclosed balcony and management had this fantastic idea to put some partition walls between the balcony sections. Pity that the partition walls only cover part of the wall and you have two good 20cm gaps at the top and bottom. Result? Instead of enjoying our privacy we were exposed to the embarrassing noises of neighbours having sex, followed by the same neighbours smoking, which, if you ask me, is far too much to put up in any place, let alone if you pay a nice amount to stay in a suite.

INTERNET
Don't bother! They charge you 8 Euros per day. For what? For waiting, waiting and waiting for a signal that just does not appear. And this any time of the day.

BREAKFAST
Day one: the hotel is invaded by elderly guests from an organised tour. After queuing a bit we try to sit by the window. The table is still dirty with used items from a previous guest. A waitress (we saw two, this was the younger) arrives and kind of removes the dirty mugs. Then - attention here - she does not remove the clearly dirty paper mat, she just puts clean mugs on it. Hello! Never heard about hygiene? (We should send the hotel inspector...) So I wait until she finishes, then I go to another free table, get some clean mats (I hope those ones were clean, guys!) and replace the dirty ones myself. The breakfast buffet is messy with food scattered a bit all over. I have a quick look at the scrambled eggs and decide that they do not look fresh enough to me.
Day two: We decide to have breakfast very early to avoid all those guests from the organised tours which we think are still around. Indeed we are the very first guests to have breakfast. And surprise!! Since the previous day nobody has bothered cleaning the breakfast buffet. The same food scattered in the very same place, the same sad, cold and disgusting scrambled eggs sitting in precisely the same position as the day before (and probably the day before as well). Absolutely disgusting.

CHECK OUT
Here I think, someone will ask me whether I enjoyed my stay and I will share with this person my opinion. But no, nobody cares! No one will ask you anything! Your feedback is not sought after.

Well then dear fellow travellers, I am so glad that we have Trip Advisor!

Located just off the Bodensee. The room has a nice view over the see but in the evenin I find spiders and cobweb in the roof and some insects in the room. Not nice, and it make me to choose another hotel, if I go ti Meersburg again. The bathroom was however very Clean and modern.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of june. We really liked the hotel. The room was a little bit old, but still clean and quite big with a nice view over the street. The breakfast was very good and the hotel staff was friendly. We were offered to park our car behind the hotel, but as we had a quite big rental car we decided to walk a few minutes to the big parkingplaces at the car ferries.

The only negative thing I can say about the hotel is that the internet connection was horrible. I could barely download my e-mails and it took me 30 minutes to send one simple e-mail. Even if it says the hotel has wifi, it doesnt, because you can't do anything online. They should not advertise that internet is incuded. If it wasn't for the crappy internet connectiong the hotel would have gotten 5 stars from me.

I would stay at the hotel again, and I fell in love with Meersburg. It was a lovely place!

We stayed in the Zeppelin Suite for the last night of our vacation. Amazing views, service and location. After a week in the Alps we wished we had stayed here longer. We had our 5 year old and 2 year old with us and were very comfortable.
