The Hotel Alte Thorschenke is a charming hotel in the heart of Cochem. We stayed in room 229 and it was lovely, complete with a medieval styled antique bed with one of the most comfortable mattresses we have ever slept on. Frau Söller at reception took care of everything from start to finish and ensured our stay was perfect. They... More

We had dinner with the three of us; me my mum and my partner. Menu was limited but the food was absolutely perfect!! Best meal in cochem what we had. And service was great , my mum can't walk far and has difficulties walking stairs but the toilets were downstairs. As soon as they saw us walking towards toilets they... More

Character hotel, almost like entering a medieval stately hall, which it was. Very tastefully modernised maintaining the character of the building. Food was excellent, Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms bright airy and an antique 4 poster bed. Whole hotel kept immaculately clean.

I was the Alte Thorschenke hotel for my Girlfriends birthday. I booked the Marie Theresia suite. The room was quite big, and very clean. The 2 old high beda with ceiling made it very romantic. The bathroom had a bath, which was noce. The only downside was that the shower head was hanging low, so if you are above 1,8m,... More

Stayed for lunch while visiting Cochem. Can really recommend. It is a bit further (50m or so) than other touristic restaurants but worth the while. We took trout, chicken & a child's dish (6€ if I remember well). All were really good. The service is friendly & the décor is traditional German (looking like something medieval). Also since it is... Just randomly stopped in for lunch while walking the streets of Cochem and was blown away! Vegetables/salad are the freshest we've tasted the last 8 days all over Germany and the best "original" wiener schnitzel hands down. Definitely walk past the tourist trap restaurants for this gem.

I recently spent two nights at the Alte Thorschenke in early December. I was visiting the area to take in the Christmas markets. The hotel is very historical and interesting in its location and some of its furniture and decorations. It is an easy walk from the train station.... about a 8 min. walk . The lady at the front... Service was okay, but quality of food was poor, portions were small and vegetables seemed an option. Compared to the prices, the menu doesn't deliver at all. Especially the rumpsteak is to avoid. Never see me again here... Would highly recommandeer restaurant Panorama in Cochem.

We enjoyed staying here very much. If I understand correctly the front half of the building was built in 1300! OK, this is not the Ritz... lots of stairs and warped floors etc. but the perfect atmosphere for visiting one of our favorite oldtowns in Europe. Our room was very clean, simple yes but had a very nice modern bathroom.... More

This is a very charming hotel. The reservation process was very easy and they have a wonderful room with 2 or 3 bedrooms, plenty of room for 5 people. The furnishings are quite old and could be more comfortable, but fine, really. The unfortunate part is the Saturday night loudness at the grill across the street. The noise went on... More
