During our recent visit to Switzerland we booked this hotel directly over the internet without experiencing this product beforehand and I must admit this hotel blow me away, with location, presentation and professionalism.

The location was private and a little outside to where we were planning to get married. The building is 400 years old and the team have kept the character of hotel but also modernised it so that you get the best of both worlds. The hotel has kept its original staircase which is very steep and could be a challenge for the elderly, but the hotel has installed a lift to overcome this. We booked ourselves into the Junior Suite that did not disappoint at all, the modern lighting mixed with a traditional ceiling and timber floors made the hotel room feel very welcoming. The bathroom was huge, the shower ran the length of the bathroom. Traveling internationally I would have liked a little more bench space but this is just personal preference. The suite also had a sperate WC which was an advantage during the stay. The Suite also had a good size sitting area in front of floor to ceiling picture of Marie Antoinette. The view from the room was to die for, waking up every morning and looking out the window over Lake Constance was a great way to start the day.

The Hotel restaurant was small and relaxing, it was not oversized like others. We only had breakfast here, they served the traditional European Breakfast that was fresh and well presented. The best thing about this restaurant was the deck that stood over the Rhine River. One could laze around and watch the day go by and not care, as the running water passes you by and sunshine’s on you one just relaxes and enjoys the company one has around them.

The staff’s presentation was on point, always professional and well informed this followed through the whole hotel, clean in all public areas and the lighting was warm and welcoming.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel with a couple of friends during a holiday in Germany, Switzerland and France.
Almost everything I would say about it is positive, but I do have to mention a very poor night's sleep. Not really the hotel's fault, but it is very close to a church whose bells toll loudly all night. Every fifteen minutes. Really can't see why that is necessary. It was quite a warm night, so my wife and I were faced with the choice of leaving the windows open and being woken by the bells, or closing the windows, leaving us to try to sleep in a warm stuffy room with no air-conditioning. Neither choice particularly appealing.
One other small point is that the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom has a large window, with no blind or curtain. A bit disconcerting when you're using the loo!
As for the plusses, there were plenty of them. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, the refurbishment has been carried out to a nice standard and the food in the restaurant was pretty good. The wine was a little bit expensive, but nonetheless, the stay and the meal represented good value overall.
The outside bar, overlooking the lake is gorgeous and the whole atmosphere of the place is very nice.
Would I say there again? Yes, but only if they have a word with the local priest about those bloomin' bells!

Had coffe on the waterside terrace in late morning. GREAT! Dinner in the early after a wonderful boat ride and hike. Also GREAT.
Wonderful fish dishes, very nicely presented. The terrace right on the water, shaded, couldn't be better.
The rooms are very nice, big, comfortable, brandnew modern bathrooms.
Looking forward to going there again!

Gottlieben is such a beautiful place to visit for tourists. I also brought my Asian friends for lunch al fresco on wonderful summer day. The location just on the River Rhine under trees for shadow the location is already a dream.
The food was surprisingly creative and reasonable priced. The only point not to give full marks was the service which could have been more consistent and by some members more friendly.
Overall to be recommended for food. I think it Must also be great to stay there overnight.

A very stylish and cosy hotel at the lake. Whenever I bring friends and business partners here they say it is amazing. Totally renovated this kind of old traditional hotel is meant to be a surprise inside: the rooms and the interior look could be in Paris, London or Milan as well. The food is delicious and the service is swiss performance!

very quite and relaxing village, very easy access to Public transport, ferries and trains. Hotel was clean and comfortable, every day room service with clean towels. No a/c or fans, which would have made sleeping much easier. Staff were friendly but understaffed. Needs to be addressed, urgently. Otherwise it was a great Break!

We came as guests looking for a hotel, as we were invented to a wedding. We left as enchanted persons looking for a chance to come back very soon.
The so traditional village of Gittlieben sets a great contrast to the style of the hotel. modern almost urban style rooms. Very helpful and nice staff. Great location direct at (!!) lake of constance. We had a very good local breakfast on the terrasse on the lake.
We want to come back for dinner and maybe we get the chance to book their "cinema royal" a private cinema just for you (or your guests) with film classics.
The price is absolutely ok and after all the whole experice is worth going there. Thank you Stefan and your team for an incredible stay

We visited konstanz (Germany) then stayed here for the night. A small tiny town. Was good for one night. Very pretty. The hotel was beautiful. Clean and big enough. Staff were friendly. The food was outrageously expensive. But for one night it was ok. Parking on the outer skirts was fine. Only a 2 min walk.

Good things.
Nice view and surroundings. Staff in reception very kindly and helpfull. Nice small Boutique Hotel mixed with old and new in a beautiful style.

Bad things.
The Restaurant staff where to slow and seemed often to be to sour. It took to long time to be served by them, except for one of the girls which seems to be very proff. The food is extremely expensive. Towels to small and some days I only got one towel. A few days here is enough because there are nothing to do here. No roomservice. There are no staff at the hotel after Midnight as well they have 1 day where you can not be served during the day or night at the restaurant, this I do not find ok.
