We’ve stayed at this site several times over the years as we have a family member who lives in Matlock who we travel up from S. Wales to visit. Pre-Covid, this family member was able to visit us provided she announced herself at reception and paid £1. This worked really well as it meant we could invite her to have a meal with us. Since Covid, the site has implemented a ‘strictly no visitors’ rule so we found we were unable to invite a 71 year old woman to join us equally aged people! I even offered to pay the £18 it would have cost if we’d initially booked her in to stay with us in our campervan! The reasons given were completely illogical and now, unfortunately we can’t justify staying there again. We have been camper vanners for many years and have never (apart from during Covid), come across this rule at any sites we’ve stayed at. What happened to accommodating guests needs and requirements and offering a bit of understanding and flexibility? A good campsite isn’t just about lovely facilities.

The site is generally lovely but agree with reviews concerning staff rudeness. They were so rude and soured our visit. We are pensioners and we’re visiting with grandchildren, we are very respectable and honest but made to feel the opposite. We contacted another site in the area when it looked like we would have to go elsewhere. They had heard of similar bad customer service. Such a shame have visited four times and will not be going back.

Lovely clean site with large pitches that are divided with hedges , but AVOID at all costs if traveling with friends . Attitude of staff is abusive and downright rude , with them patrolling round all day , checking what each unit is doing and even round in a buggy at night with no lights sneaking up . Do not allow additional cars on site for unloading even for five minutes without being abused and staff driving in excess of 15 mph on site where there are children and dogs .We spent in excess of £1500 on a stay here and can definitely say NOT family or dog friendly. STAY AWAY !!

An absolute gem of a site, beautifully maintained grounds and facilities. Pitches are well spread out, the dog walking areas are terrific and it has a very well equipped children's play area. The staff could not have been more helpful and before we left we booked for New year but hopefully will be back before then

The young girl in reception is quite rude, after asking why they clean both toilet blocks at the same time her answer was 'you have toilets in your vans don't you?' And handing me change with her back to me.Not the first time someone has mentioned her attitude on reading reviews on here. We've been coming here for years but felt really uncomfortable this time

What a wonderful little site. So clean, immaculate. Wonderful green open spaces. Dog and child friendly. Lots of space between vans and just set amongst wonderful countryside. The staff are so friendly. We had a wonderful stay. Amazing little park area where the children can even play ball. Would definitely recommend. You can’t book online, you have to call. That’s ok though, it’s worth it.

Very friendly Warden and staff, took time to tell me about local walks, recommended some nice pubs. Shop well stocked. We stayed on A 12 but all the other pitches are a good size and most of them have great views. Lots of wildlife and watched loads of planes going over. Toilets and shower facilities are spacious and spotless. 5 minute walk to the garden centre which is dog friendly in most areas. Some nice dog walks on site. Had a pizza delivery from pizza point in Matlock. It was cash on delivery and they phoned when they were a few minutes away. Very nice and on time to the minute. Stayed for 3 nights. £40 a night for the deluxe pitch as we were in the school holidays. Nice playground for the kiddies too. Lots of bins on site and dog bins. All emptied daily and recycling facilities too.We look forward to returning at sometime in the near future. ***** 5 stars from us and our Cocker Spaniel.

I would recommend the site, as overall the site is in a good location - nice walks round with dog friendly pubs. The site its self is well maintained - clean toilets etc (little too clean at times as the floor after cleaning could be left too wet - signs in place but was left really wet. The pitches are of a really nice size. The downside to the site is no cycling / scooters etc ( even though this wasnt policed) but the rule that was over policed in my opinion is the noise - now the ruling is no loud noise AFTER 11pm so we was left upset that on one night we had banging on the awning from the two young wardens - stating due to it approaching the curfew we needed to tone down our laughing !! if we had done this after the curfew time, or had been really loud or there had been a complaint - but there wasnt ( there was no one else really around us) but even more so that they told us before the time, we were two familes with children on a new years break - not wanting to party all night.
