My wife and I spent 10 days over the Christmas holidays here and had the best diving holiday ever! We are experienced divers who have dived all over the world (Maldives, Belize, Egypt, Thailand, Malaysia (Sipadan), Philippines, Indonesia (Sulawasi), Micronesia (Palau & Guam), GBR, Caribbean, Hawai, Japan) and in our experience, nothing, I mean nothing, tops diving with Raja Ampat Biodiversity Resort. If you are the kind of diver who enjoys a friendly, intimate resort, with a personal touch and where you can meet and befriend like-minded people and where your needs are taken care of, then honestly, Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort is for you! Quite simply, the resort is beautiful. Our bungalow was spacious; superbly maintained and always clean with a wonderful view looking out on to the white sandy beach and the stunning turquoise blue beyond. The staff were so friendly; genuinely happy to help and to ensure we had the best time. The owners were on site over the holiday period and they also genuinely cared about making sure we had the most memorable time. And the food was truly wonderful! As for the diving, you've probably done your research and know that the diving in Raja is exceptional. But did you know many of the best dive sites in Raja are within easy reach of Biodiversity Nature Resort? This means we dived at world renowned dive sites everyday, and we weren't disappointed! The sheer range of biodiversity and volume of marine life is utterly breathtaking. The dive operation at the resort is superbly managed and our dive guide was brilliant, making our entire diving experience so memorbale. If you are still deciding which resort to stay at, do yourself a favour and book Biodiversity Nature Resort. You won't regret it!

This is a wonderful place to relax, snorkel, dive and meet interesting people in very natural landscape and very well designed wooden houses. The organisation was perfect (thanks to Kaylee!) Great bar on the beach with the best pina colada before dinner. The food ist very good with all you can imagine – wonderful breakfast buffet (fresh smoothie and fruits) . Patrizia – the owner of the resort - is a relaxed and hearty person that cares a lot and all the stuff ist really great!!! Diving was amazing: so much fish and lovely corals – the dive guides are very nice and experienced. To fam islands it is quite a trip – 1,5 hours by noisy boot – but it is really worth to go there. With some weather conditions we had lots of rubbish in the ocean and on the beach – which is really sad to see. Who wants can help to collect and clean the beach. Everything was very easy and worked well. Thanks to all for this wonderful holiday! We love to come back! Petra & Götz, Germany

Dear Petra R, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us at Biodiversity ! We are delighted that you were able to relax in our little piece of paradise and enjoy the atmosphere that we have created for all our guests. A natural escape designed to connect you with nature and like mined people from all over the world. Thank you for your kind words about our staff, who all make an effort to ensure you are well looked after. The rubbish is unfortunately a reminder of the negative impact humans are having on the environment. We agree it is something so sad to see, in such a remote area of the world. We can escape it! Our beach clean ups are just one of the practises we put in place to reduce the plastic in the ocean. A little can go a long way. We are so happy you had a wonderful overall stay and we wish to see you back again in the near future. Best regards The Team at Biodiversity

As divers our focus was the water, but the land was just as enticing. The personal connections with staff and other guests made wonderful and lasting memories. The meals were delicious ,the bungalows were well appointed, and the facilities and boats were all in terrific and well maintained condition. The dive instruction (our teenage son completed his (AOW/Adv Adventurer) and dive operations were top notch, very personable, and professional. The diving in Raja Ampat was of course, mind blowing, spectacular, fun, exciting, amazing, and adventurous. The opportunities to see a variety of villages, hike interior on islands to see wildlife (Red bird of paradise, monitor lizards, cus-cus, bats, other birds, and a wide range of other flora and fauna) were all reasons we prefer land based versus liveaboards for dive and adventure holidays. We look forward to returning to Raja Ampat and Biodiversity in the future.

We had the best time at Biodiversity resort. This is a family run business that operates like a clock! Patricia and Rey make a tremendous effort to have all guests satisfied, the staff is well trained and super nice. Our kids ages 6 and 10 had a great time while mum and dad went world class diving. Do not miss The Passage boat ride - we did it on our very last day and it was a really special experience.

I just returned home after spending 5 nights in this lovely resort. First lesson learned, 5 nights is a very short stay, 8 nights is the minimum and longer is better. Resort handles the transfer from Sorong airport to the resort and back, transfer went very smooth. Phone signal (Telkomsel) and internet were good enough to follow up my work. I stayed in a superior cottage, which was spacious, bright and clean, you can hear the waves and birds from the comfortable bed. Towels are changed every 2 days which was not enough given that towels never get drayed due to high humidity! Unlike what other reviewers stated here, there are a lot of mosquitos (maybe because of my darker skin!?) So be ready to use the repellent from the first moment of entering the room. The bed has a good mosquito net, but was dense and blocked the air from the portable fan, was not a big deal ... but I think a ceiling fan and thinner mesh above the bed may do a better job. Food! Super delicious and different dishes are offered every day for lunch and dinner, and different fruits and juices for breakfast. meals at shared tables, people find it a good idea, for me it's not. It's still not a big deal but maybe offering the option of a private meal even with an extra charge is a good idea. Diving was superb; resort location is good; you save some time in boat travelling to most diving sites compared to resorts around Waisai for example. however, you must understand that getting the sites you see on the internet require a longer stays and favored sea conditions AND enough guests that share your special desires, I was very interested in diving in mangroves area but I think due lake of interest of other guests, I could not make it ... I'm not complaining, I'm just want to stress on the importance of having enough time in such remote areas. Diving boats and equipment's were OK, diving guides did a very good job, Jimmy (not very sure about name spelling) was my guide in almost all dives. Finally, the leaving moment was very sad! Hopefully I'll come again to the same resort soon.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us at Biodiversity Nature Resort. We are glad that you enjoyed your time with us in the Raja Ampat and thank you for all your comments. We do agree, If you are only coming to the Raja Ampat for 5 nights is not enough to explore all amazing dive sites that the area has to offer. With regards to the mosquitos, we are sorry you were effected by them, as you mentioned we do not get many people being effected by the mosquitoes, but there is someone getting all the bites. We are glad you enjoyed the food, we serve fresh locally sourced produce and our kitchen puts some fantastic dishes together. We advertise as a small family style resort and the family style eating has been with us since the beginning, it is a part of what makes us unique and we apologise if this was not to your liking, we will take your comments into consideration, and offer private table if requested. We are happy you enjoyed the diving and we must agree with you, we are in a good location to get you to all the top dive sites in the Dampier Straight, which we try get all guests to go see. The more uncommon ones, as you have mentioned are a little harder to organise when there are not many days available. We do however offer a private boat as an option and we do our best to try accommodate all requests, within our limits. We are happy you had a great time overall and we hope to see you again in the near future! Best regards The team at Biodiversity

A magical place for visiting Raja Ampat. Beautiful resort with cosy comfortable cabins which all have sea view and private lounge beds overlooking the sea. Excellent food in the restaurant, friendly staff but most of all a fabulous place for diving or snorkeling. So many magnificent dive sites within close proximity of the resort. Everything is being taken care of, you just step in the boat where your dive gear is already set up for you. Staff helps you put on your gear so it is all very relaxed. The dive guides know where to find the most weird and wonderful creatures and every dive is full of wonders. We absolutely loved our stay in Biodiversity Paradise and can recommend it to everybody. It is five star plus plus plus!

Resort mainly for divers and Snorkelers in the heart of Dampier Strait. Very well-managed by American-Argentinian couple Jen and Marten. Highly professional diving guides, excellent staff, great food, scenic location. Main point of criticism: The boats for transfers and diving are quite run-down and need a serious haulover or replacement.

Dear B M, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us at Biodiversity Nature Resort. We are glad that you enjoyed the diving and snorkelling, it is spectacular, and you will never be disappointed. There is always an abundance of life in the water. We are happy you enjoyed our small "family style" resort and that you enjoyed the warm, genuine hospitality from our staff. The food is always made with love and we are happy you enjoyed our Indonesian cuisine with a twist. With regards to our boats, we are currently in the process of giving them a makeover, however due to our remote location, supplies often take a lot longer to get to us, so it takes us a long time to do one boat and we have 5 boats. During our low season which has just been, we were able to build a new boat and start the process, as mentioned to renovate the others. It will take us some time, but we will get there. Our policy is to be as sustainable as possible, so instead of purchasing a new boat because it might not look good, we go the more sustainable way and renovate them.

Our third visit and wont be the last. There are some places that capture you in a special way. Raja Ampat Biodiversity is one of those places. It is not the fanciest resort in Raja Ampat but it has everything you want. Comfortable rooms, good food, amazing diving, and most importantly exceptional staff and owners that care about their customers, community and the environment. There are many little things to reduce their environmental impact like more sustainably sourced seafood, use of solar, and water recycling. They also engage with the local villages to support education and livelihoods. From our first trip in 2014 when the resort was just 4 basic rooms to a slightly larger operation now it has managed to retain its core values and character. Its a perfect base to access some of the popular dive sites of the Dampier Strait like Cape Kri, Blue Magic, Sardines, Mioskoon, and Chicken Reef. They also organise day trips to sites like Manta Ridge, Sawandarek and Melissas Garden. The house reef is also great for diving and snorkelling.
