The Charm of history surrounded by an enjoyable nature environment.Villa Alta awaits its guests a stone’s throw from Pisa in a wonderful panoramic position overlooking the Miracle Square and the sea.The house dominates the landscape crossed by the ancient trading route known as Silk Road along which traders travelled across Europe exchanging their precious damasks. The entrance avenue leading to a fully restored historic house is surrounded by a wide park with rare examples of secular natural architecture. Refined frescoes decorated with grotesque motifs adorn the walls of the main floor and the receptions rooms.Staying at Villa Alta is a unique experience: the elegant frescoed halls overlooking pretty garden corners perfectly combine with the sophisticated design of the bedrooms and the suite, created on the upper floor where once there was a barn, and equipped with all the most advanced modern comforts (air conditioning, WIFI, minibar, TV).The ideal location for a holiday, events and parties, immersed in a charming landscape of great natural and artistic beauty in the tranquillity of Tuscan hills

Absolutely fantastic stay at Villa Alta. We were so lucky to randomly pick this beautiful hotel for our extra couple of days in Tuscany after our flights were cancelled back to UK.
The hotel has so much character, beautifully and authentically decorated but also with the most fantastic homely service. From Elizabeth who greeted us on arrival to Monika who provided us with some great travel advice on the local area and was our shuttle driver to Pisa, to Floriene who provided us with dinner on our last evening - everyone made us feel so at home and cared for.
They have a lovely pool and whirlpool with comfortable loungers. A fantastic restaurant where we had breakfast each day and dinner on our last evening on the terrace (one of the best meals we had in Tuscany). A little out of Pisa but in a great location (by hotel taxi) to Pisa where it's really easy to get about by train. We spent a day in Pisa and Lucca then a second day at the hotel relaxing by the pool.
I can't recommend this hotel enough.

Stayed here earlier in the month for a few days. It's about 30 minutes away from Pisa and is a great location to enjoy some peace and quiet, while enjoying great views of the Tuscan countryside.
My room was a fair size for the price and a had a nice shower / bathroom. The hotel staff are friendly and so the amenities such as the pool were excellent. The gardens are beautiful and it was great to just relax and take it all in.

Villa Alta is just the right place to stay, cool down at the swimming pool, have a stunning view. If you look for a relatively affordable luxury place in the hilly Tuscany, close by to Lucca, Pisa, the Cost. The Ladies owning and caring the place are excellent to prepare events too, so highly consider to ask for dinner in the terrace!

We were staying here with my wife for one night when traveling around Northern Italy.

Villa and its properties wre magnifient and amazing - every detail represented history! There were staying only two people next door (which we did not see until breakfast) so it made us feel really private and cool.

Staff were friendly and kind. Room was nice and clean - everything we needed was there. Pool downstairs was amazing - it even had a jacuzzi!

Breakfast was very tasty.

Villa is located close to Pisa - only 20 min by car so it was easy to go there.

In general, excellent place to stay! Highly recommended.

We stayed for 5 nights, and frankly, we have rather positive impressions. I'll try to summarize:
LOCATION
Villa is located in a beautiful garden, with a magnificent view on the Pisa area (yeah, you can see the Miracle Square from the terrace). However, broader neighborhood is not so impressive. The Villa is in Rigoli, a normal, not very impressive village among a rather busy road, and for other services like coffee or restaurant you need to drive a while - having a car is a necessarily, although there is a nearby railway station. Compared to other areas around, e.g. Calci or San Guiliano Terme, Rigoli does not offer any beautiful old centre suitable for evening walks, afternoon coffee or a nice dinner in a walking distance. This broader location is a big minus.
SERVICES
Very good, the people around the Villa are very helpful, you can feel the Italian hospitality all around. We were offered a typical home-made Tuscan dinner, that I rank as very good.
ACCOMODATION
We had a small "green room". It was fine, except it was very dark - there is only one small window located towards the hill in the room. The furnishing is new, the bed was a bit uncomfortable for me (I'm rather sensitive to that), but acceptable.
The rooms are located on 3rd attic floor, without elevator (so I don't recommend the Villa for anyone who has problem with the stairs).
However, what makes the accommodation worthy are the other rooms in this old Villa - with restored frescas, antic furnishing, all accessible for the guest, we felt like being accommodated in a museum.
BREAKFAST
For breakfast the Villa offered "typical" cold Swedish table: few types of ham, salamis and cheese, toast bread, few marmalades and every day some new cakes and fresh fruit. It gets boring after a while; I would really appreciate at least some different, healthy bread instead of the white toasts.
OVERALL
If you have a car, and do not have problems with the stairs, you can spend there an memorable vacation. The Villa with its garden is amazing, very romantic.

Family of 5 stayed in this beautiful villa while on a Tuscany trip. This is the perfect location for someone traveling by car wanting to visit both Pisa and Lucca (which is a wonderful Renaissance town and one of the highlights of our visit to the region!). The villa is located high up on a hill ("Alta" - which makes it cooler). It is owned by three siblings (we met the two sisters) who wanted to keep the residence, purchased by their father, in the family. You will absolutely treasure meeting the two sisters - so full of life, passionate about the house and the region. Villa Alta attracts many weddings, given its picturesque location. The rooms are huge! Our children were in an air conditioned room, whereas our room had a fan, but was fine for late June, probably because of the hilltop venue. Breakfast was on the simple side, but so pleasant out on the terrace with sweeping views (you can even see the Tower of Pisa in the distance). We did not use the pool, but it looked very nice. This is the kind of place where you arrive for a day or two, and quickly wish you could stay for an extended visit. There is a nice restaurant that is a 5 minute walk from Villa Alta.

beautiful villa, beautiful and very clean room (incl. bathroom), we were so surprised to find the wonderful drive behind the gate in san giuliano terme that led us to the charming villa alta! we arrived pretty late in the evening, the hosts came to welcome us with a big smile, they were so patient and kind, we were absolutely amazed and were even regretting we could only stay there for one night... we will definitely try to come back! close to Lucca, close to Pisa, calm, nice and quiet, just lovely!!

From our first initial visit to Villa Alta in July 2017, we knew almost straight away it was our chosen location for our little Italian wedding.

The villa stands prominently on a hill, surrounded by beautiful well kept gardens with incredible views overlooking Pisa and the Tuscan countryside.

The villa is family run and well organised with all you could need for both short and long stays and makes an incredible venue to host a wedding.

The owners of the villa could not have been more helpful in the organisation of various aspects of our day from catering, legalities, flowers, photography to hair and make up. This proves extremely helpful when you don't speak the local language.

Following our wedding some family members stayed on at the villa for an extended holiday, the staff went above and beyond to ensure they were catered for in all aspects of excursions, restaurant reservations and transportation (especially as they didn't have a car). For this I am grateful.

The level of personal attention and customer service offered at Villa Alta is second to none. I can not recommend the venue, B&B and staff more highly.

Grazie mille!
We'll be back! :-)
