First visit to this brand new hotel perfectly situated on a golf course. The welcome on arrival was fantastic they really did seem genuinely pleased to see us got taken to my room best word to describe it was lush !!
Very soft bed but well sized and dressed everything in the room you would expect from someone trying to be the best even electric curtains that open to a great view of the first tee.
I would expect to have found underfloor heating in the bathroom and the shower whilst nicely done would only go to Luke warm but happy to except this as teething point, I do wonder how long the cream coloured carpet will last that is already heavily marked by the patio doors
7 of us ate in the restaurant again pretty good service but very pricey for not a lot and be careful of breakfast as poached eggs on toast is literally one egg as is with the full breakfast but plenty of toast available
So overall a good start from the Cave definitely worth a visit but a way still to go to be the best

Thank you for staying with us at Cave and for leaving us feedback. It true that, as with all new businesses, we have learnt from a couple of teething issues. But I’m glad you had a great stay with us!

We recently enjoyed an incredible stay at Cave Hotel.
Our family of four, (2 children 9 and 11) were in the Penthouse suite which is absolutely enormous and has its own full size kitchen, sitting room with a retractable projector screen, two bathrooms, very cool fire effect feature and tvs everywhere. It also has two desks with large screens, perfect if you have to work during your stay. There is a bar and a large table so you could entertain or hold business meetings, or, as we did, just kick back and relax - a truly flexible space. The balcony wraps round the room so you can see the view from different aspects. It's easy to be private though as the blinds descend at the push of a button. There's a nespresso coffee machine and other little touches to make your stay special. The children couldn't believe the size of it and kept running round to explore before settling on a game of pool. The bed is huge and extremely comfortable. The children slept on a sofa bed which was clearly as soporific as the main bed as we didn't hear a peep out of them all night. The rainfall shower was huge and the perfect temperature after our trip to the pool/spa area after which we wrapped ourselves in the fluffy robes and watched a film.
For dinner we started in the bar for cocktails then had room service back in the suite. All beautifully presented and delicious. Breakfast the next day was served in the firepit restaurant. We had a selection of pastries, fruit, delicious toast and a variety of cooked breakfasts ranging from pancakes to a full english. We were happily stuffed by the time left the table! The staff were all so friendly and professional from the moment we stepped in the door to the second we left. I love a place where everyone knows their job backwards but also has the time and character to make it a fun, enjoyable experience. The staff here certainly fit that bill. I can see why the hotel was so busy when we stayed. Thank you.

Hard to decide on an overall rating because the hotel is absolutely spectacular but I feel there are some points that let it down. I would on the whole recommend the stay and will most probably return which is a testament to the hotel itself. The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are functional and the bed is super comfortable. The bar is cosy and the drinks were great. We were also allowed to book a pool and spa slot which was great and although only 20 minutes gave us a chance to enjoy some of the facilities. There were however a few negatives which I think let the hotel down, firstly when trying to add on additional services to the stay such as the pool slot I tried 3 days in a row to call reception and in the end had to leave a voice message for them to respond to. Dissapointingly the room also wasn't ready for our arrival at 3 o clock, we were asked to go wait in the clubhouse and someone would come and find us but at 4 o clock this hadn't happened. When we came back to reception our keys were simply handed to us with no apology or explanation. I completely understand that during this coronavirus pandemic cleaners must be under a lot of pressure to do a thorough job but I would recommend either pushing back the check in time or at least apologising to guests as it wasn't a great start upon entering the hotel. The rest of the stay was great- great nights sleep and food from the Korean Cowgirl which I would definitely recommend and the people are great. We decided to have breakfast in the clubhouse upon check out- this disappointingly ended our stay on not the best note. Staff seemed disinterested in serving us and the breakfast came cold and without certain elements listed on the menu. Perhaps the breakfast inside the hotel is better.

Dear Me123xoxo, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at The Cave Hotel & Golf Resort. I was very pleased to read your positive comments regarding the quality of our facilities and that you enjoyed a pleasant nights sleep in our super king sized bed. I was disappointed to read your comments regarding contacting our reception desk, currently we are experiencing a higher than normal volume of calls due to the current worldwide situation that we find ourselves in, however we are working to resolve this by increasing the level of staff on the desk and installing an additional telephone line. In respect of your room not being ready, for the safety and comfort of our guests we have enhanced our cleaning procedures which has the result of increasing the length of time to clean our rooms. I take you point however and will discuss with my Housekeeping Manager. I am sorry that breakfast in our Clubhouse was not to the standard you were expecting and have discussed your feedback with our Food & Beverage Director, I am very happy that you enjoyed dining from our popular Korean Cowgirl Menu. I was very pleased to read that you would recommend our hotel and very much look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind Regards Robert Richardson FIH General Manager The Cave Hotel & Golf Resort

The hotel is very easy to find and well sign posted. Parking very accessible and plenty of it. Check in was very easy but felt like we could have had a warmer welcome and told where the lift or stairs were (but the lift was not working when we stayed which was slightly difficult with a pram and baby and luggage to carry up) our room was lovely, everything you could have wanted, the bed is incredibly comfy, very clean rooms and bathroom is great and views are pretty. We had some cocktails in the bar upstairs around lunch time, it would have been nice to have a bit of background music on and the bar staff were not very attentive considering when we finished our drinks even though we were the only people in there we had to go to her to ask to order more drinks. Also we were a bit peckish so asked if there were any bar snacks which they said they could do some crisps and nuts (but feel this should be on the menu) We ate at the fire pit restaurant for dinner which the food is super yummy however we were advised to order 2 plates per couple but thankfully we didn’t as it wouldn’t have been enough. The food was very well cooked and very yummy however wasn’t enough of it for the price especially £18 for 4 tiny lamp chops to share between 4 of you. After dinner had some drinks downstairs in the lounge but only thing is you have to go upstairs to the bar to order your drinks, would be good to either order them through an iPad or something and a waitress comes down or have someone downstairs to take orders. The pool is lovely we used that the following day, very relaxing sauna was very nice also. We asked when we left if you can come to the hotel to use the pool facilities but they said no you have to have a room, as I thought it would be nice in the summer if my husband is playing golf I could go to the pool whilst waiting for him obviously wouldn’t mind paying a fee. Upon checking out I went to pay our bill and realised that even though I booked online they didn’t actually charge me for the room so when checking out I had to pay for the room then which was slightly annoying as I didn’t realise this was the case and I had booked way before Christmas so wasn’t expecting to pay the amount then. Overall really enjoyed our stay but feel like overall experience couldn’t have been perfect with just a few tiny changes/adjustments.

Stayed for 2 nights in a signature suite. The room was really lovely and luxurious. All staff I came across were lovely and so helpful, especially Lucy on reception who went out of her way to help us (we wouldn't have realised how near we were to the coast without her). Bed was so comfortable and check in was smooth as was check out. The lighting in the rooms is lovely, could have done with a few tips on how to use the HDMI ports for TV but I'd watched someone else's vlog so i knew they were on the wall.

I had a few niggles but these are just my 'thing' that i expect in an upmarket hotel. There was a layer of dust on back of sofa which I really wouldn't expect in any hotel let alone an 'upmarket' one, carpet badly stained near bathroom which I suspect was caused by shower running out into the room because the shower drainage was awful (I think there is a rim now to stop it running out!). Bath mat when i got it out had black mould on the back. We didn't get a chance to use the spa because you had to ring down and see if you could go in and then be put on a waiting list. Not ideal as didn't really want to just hang around to wait, a booking system surely would be better. Hubby used the 'gym' (gym wall is missing - away for repair apparently!).

Breakfast first day was slightly odd, just having cereal when full English arrived with no gap between. Wasn't offered toast had to ask. On second morning much more organised, there was a gap between cereal and full English, but we wanted white toast but was told "we've run out"! There were jams etc on the table which weren't there on the first day, we were also offered a variety of coffees on second morning which we weren't on first morning. It's these little things that I expect when paying a premium for a room. I also asked for ice for our room, was told they'd run out so we never got any.

Food in Korean Cowgirl was really nice as were the cocktails.

Overall it's a lovely place and despite the 'little' things i've mentioned I definitely will return and just wanted to point this stuff out as feedback mainly. Still giving 5 stars as seems mean to knock off a whole star for small things, and the staff are so lovely.

Dear AliH184, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent experience at our hotel; and for providing feedback from your stay, my team and I greatly appreciate it. I was delighted to read what a positive impression Lucy made, thank you for taking the time to highlight her efforts. Certainly she, or any other member of the team, would have been extremely happy to provide some tips on the use of our in room AV system. In respect of your room we have a rigorous cleaning regime, as highlighted by other reviewers to this site, and I have personally inspected every bathmat and can confirm I have not found any with mould. Regrettably, our bespoke gym wall is currently being replaced, and I am sorry for any disappointment that this may have caused during your stay. I have spoken to our Food & Beverage Director regarding your breakfast feedback and this has been discussed with his team, I was very pleased you enjoyed our popular Korean Cowgirl restaurant however. I do look forward to your next visit to The Cave Hotel & Golf Resort, please do ask for me when you arrive, it would be nice to say hello. We LOVED the hotel! The lighting, the ambience, the room (with a cheeky upgrade, thank you!), were pretty much perfect! We found the hotel to be calm and tranquil and perfect for us to unwind. The room was phenomenal - the bedding and mattress felt like you were being cuddled by a cloud!
The downsides.....the service. The team were helpful and friendly, however, not incredibly attentive, especially in the restaurants. The food was expensive for the portions you get, amazing quality, but very overpriced (£70 for Alaskan King crab and not even one leg was served). We are used to eating in quality restaurants, but found this too much - especially when the service did not help the experience! There was also an issue with check out when the systems went down. We left only to find we had been charged £326 instead of the £53 owing - it then took 2 calls to rectify the situation. I would say overall, the hotel is phenomenal, but really need to address the service and food costs to bring it up to expectations.

We saw the Cave Hotel after it was featured on the BBC Travel show and impressed by the Covid safety measures implemented by the management. As we were visiting the area we decided to stay and were not disappointed.

Arrival
We were greeted warmly and had our temperature taken. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful confirming breakfast, dinner and pool times.

Room
We had a family room which had a nice view of the golf course from a balcony with 2 chairs. The bed was very comfortable with a lovely down duvet and there was a very large tv🙂.Our room had a rain shower, the only slight irritation was the bathroom door which seems not to fit very well. I was however pleased to see a socket by the mirror, which was great for drying hair, make up etc.

Pool
The hotel is currently operating a 20 min pool slot to enable Covid safety and extra cleaning time. We really enjoyed the pool especially as we had it to ourselves and hadn’t been swimming since March. There is also a cool jacuzzi which overlooks the golf course. As soon as we had finished a gentleman came into clean which was reassuring.

Firepit Restaurant

Absolutely loved it! We were greeted by Sergio and looked after very well by him and his lovely team. The food in this restaurant is based on a sharing theme which is a great way to eat. It enabled us to order lots of small dishes. The voodoo shrimp was lovely , we also had beef and lamb which had lovely flavours and needed nothing else added. The dishes were accompanied by yummy truffle mash and broccoli and desert was a creative version of bread and butter pudding with miso custard (highly recommended).

Experience
The hotel is very unique and it is evident that the owners have put a lot of thought into the detail of the cosy public areas and overall ambience. You certainly aren’t walking into to a chain hotel when you walk into the Cave. In these difficult times this hotel has combined safety with a seamless experience.

We have already booked to return again at the end of August. Thanks again all.

Last minute booking for a mini golf break. The website doesn't do it justice; everything is truly 5 star.

From the moment we arrived, we were made so welcome. The room was luxury, the bed was so comfy, so we enjoyed a great nights sleep after an excellent dinner in the Fire Pit restaurant.

Breakfast was delicious, cooked beautifully and service was again excellent. The staff are very well trained and obviously care about customer service, not something you find everywhere.

From a Covid point of view, hand sanitisers were everywhere, and staff wore masks or visors, so felt completely relaxed/safe.

The golf course is in excellent condition, some of the hills are a challenge but buggies are available for hire.

We didn't want to come home; so much so, we have recommended to family members who are visiting next week! Very jealous.

Great golf, good food and excellent service. When can we come back?

I had high hopes for this hotel after hearing the great reviews. Absolutely stunning areas in the hotel however our room really let it down. I upgraded to the junior suite but the fireplace had the metal guarding coming away making it dangerous, the carpet had some disturbing stains, there were a few petals on the floor by the bed which must have been from the people that stayed there the night before, the bath had stains on the bottom. We were asked at check in if we were happy for the cleaner to come into the room while we were out for our meal to clean which we happily accepted so made sure our used wet towels were on the floor so that we could get fresh ones for the morning, only to find that the cleaner simply hung them back up as they were still wet when we came back later that night. Also the milk was not replenished or the shower gel so I could not have a coffee in the morning and the one mini bottle of shower gel was not enough for 2 adults to use. Overall so disappointed that paying to upgrade the room left me feeling ripped off as our room was really tatty. It was for my husband's birthday and to be honest I was a bit embarrassed. The staff however were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The restaurant and lounge areas were beautiful. Just a real shame we seem to have got unlucky with our room. I mentioned to the lady while checking out that we were disappointed and she just said she could only apologise and would let management know, but I have not heard anything else back from them. A real shame as we had family that were keen on our feedback that also wanted to stay. The pool is also very small can't accommodate too many people and the jaccuzi is to be avoided as it's just one huge blast from a jet which is not relaxing one bit. But it did look beautiful inside.

Had an overnight stay at Cave for our Anniversary and it was very clear that the hotel are experiencing some teething issues. We tried to be understanding that the hotel hasn't been open long but we couldn't help but feel disappointed by some of the issues we experienced. We were promised Prosecco in our room for our special occasion but felt embarrased when I had to call down to reception to inform them that this hadn't been arranged as promised. My partner was really looking forward to the Firepit in our room but when we asked for assistance on how to turn this on we were informed that it was actually not working. The staff member did offer her apologies but for the price we were paying we couldn't help but feel disappointed.
The room itself was beautiful and the bed extremely comfortable. Lighting however is not great for applying make up! I resulted to sitting infront of the window for natural light. We experienced real issues with water temperatures; I tried to have a bath but had to get out as the water (even though it was on max temp) was far too cold to sit in. My partner however experienced the exact opposite when he was scalded by the shower. We were disappointed to find out on arrival that the spa facilities were not available for our stay, we would have preferred to have known this before arrival.
One thing I cannot fault in the slightest was the staff! They were amazing - especially the porter drivers and receptionists. We used the porter service to take us into Canterbury for a meal and what a luxury the porter service is. When we returned from our meal we went to the bar for some drinks. We have decided to come back to Cave next month to give the hotel another chance as we could see the potential that it has. We look forward to returning.

Thank you for leaving feedback on your stay with us at Cave! I'm sorry that we seemed to have missed your prosecco, the team are generally very good at helping to celebrate with the many guests we have celebrating special occasions, so I apologise if they dropped the ball on this one. Its true that in a couple of our suites we are waiting on replacements fireplaces and they will be with us soon. Its also a shame you couldn't experience our pool area, this has been open for some weeks now so it would be great for you to return like you have mentioned to enjoy the full Cave experience. Before this was open we were attempting to call all guests prior to arrival to let them know it wasn't quite finished, but I see we didn't manage to get hold of you. Its great to hear my team did an amazing job at helping you to feel welcome and relaxed! As I'm sure they will do again when you return! Thanks again and see you soon!
