It feels like such a privilege to be one of only a few guests on a small tropical island, with everything geared towards making your stay as good as it can be. Martin and Friska were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout - doing everything they could to make sure that each guest had the best possible time. The accommodation is really comfortable, and the resort is well laid out. In particular, I really liked the restaurant sitting on stilts above the water; it was just so beautiful to watch the water lapping at the shore over breakfast, and to see the moonlight dappling on the water in the evening over dinner. There was only a small number of guests when I was there - so everyone (including Martin and Friska) had dinner at one table; as a solo traveller, that was ideal from my point of view and it made for a great atmosphere and some good laughs. The food was great, with a good variety of dishes and (as regards the Indonesian food) with the chilli content dialled down - but with the option of taking a teaspoon or two of sambal to hot it up. The diving was excellent; and the dive guides and boat teams were very helpful. Martin and Friska joined the guests for some of the dives, and it was clear that they took a real interest in how people felt about individual dive sites and what each person was most interested in. Big Fish Country is probably the most famous dive site in the vicinity, but the diving there can be challenging. Martin took a lot of care to make sure that everyone fully understood the characteristics of the site, and exactly how to manage things so as to minimise any risks - and that allowed everyone to enjoy the experience (and in particular, the spectacular shoals -like a tornado in the current) without too much stress. I dived Big Fish Country a few times; unfortunately the current each time was not as strong as usual, so there were fewer sharks to see - but a great experience none the less. …

We really enjoyed visiting Nabucco Island Resort for scuba diving. The stuff are super friendly. Our dive master Alfonso was very experienced and responsible, he kept on slowing us all the fun stuff in the ocean. The food provided by the resort has exceeded our expectations. Honestly, my sister and I were pleasantly surprised because you don’t normally have a great chef in a dive resort.

I actually only came across Nabucco by chance. I was on my way to Maratua with the aim of doing the Open Water. After 3 days of searching, I had actually already given up hope, until I came across Nabucco during my search. In the evening I left a message at Nabucco and Friska, the manager, answered me immediately and told me that her husband Martin would contact me later. Then came the happy news from Martin that I could do the Open Water course with them and to my surprise I could start the course the very next day. I received a very warm welcome from Martin and Friska, the manager couple and also from the crew. Unfortunately, I didn't stay overnight at the resort, but Martin offered me to come with the crew boat to and from Maratua in the mornings and evenings. The island is away from mass tourism, a paradise on earth, simply a dream. Friska has planted the garden so lovingly. I had a VIP open water course, there was no one there but me, that was the best of all. We went to a different, even more beautiful place every day, dived and went back to the resort for lunch. The crew was very friendly and the food was very good. Many thanks to Friska and Martin that everything worked out so spontaneously and for the unforgettable time at Nabucco. Best all-around diving experience so far! And some experienced 20+ years divers I met there agreed on the same thing (we just had a small reunion dinner, thank you Nabucco for sparkling friendships too). Great range of diving spots nearby the atoll, highly professional and heart-warming staff all-across, a special mention to the kitchen staff and chef for the consistently amazing breakfast and 4-course dinner. Friska and Martin are doing a wonderful job to make resort and diving center run with the best standards only, what a great stay.

Really loved this island. Martin and Friska are great hosts! The volleyball games with the crew were great fun! The diving was really good. Especially surfing the current in Big Fish Alley. First class setup for diving at Nabucco! WE were very well taken care of and great gear. The Moped trip on Maratua was really interesting adn well worth the outing. Bungalows were very comfortable, good air con, spacious and great views and steps into the water.

My job is to travel and document my experiences, and this place is an easy 5 stars! It's hard to find a much more unique location, that also has great food, great service and overall value for your money. Martin and Friska gave us an experience we will never forget. Everything was timely planned and we got to take our open water certificate at some of the incredible dive sites near Nabucco. They are both highly skilled instructors and we found it both interesting and safe, when they taught us. Welcome to paradise! Nabucco is a small tropical island surrounded by a beautiful reef with turtles, so many fish and (mega large) coral. The bungalows are spacious, clean and fully equipped. The island is well maintained by the gardeners, electrician, technician, etc. The food is carefully prepared, varied and very tasty. The Extra Divers diving school is very well organized and the staff has a lot of experience. Our sons with just their OWD were very well guided during the dives. A member of our family snorkeled, and that too was well taken into account when choosing the dive site. A staff member went along with the snorkeling. As a surprise, videos of our dive together were made! All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We went to Nabucco in june 2023. It was a long way to get there, but it was all worth it. Paradise-feeling, far away of everything. The managers, Martin and Friska were very friendly and helpfull. Excellent food and service. The dives were amazing, “Big Fish Country”, with a thousand barracuda’s and the grey reef sharks; and “Barracuda Point” with the magnificiant coralgardens were my favorite diving-sites. Thanks to Alfonso, our diving-guide, who show us all the small critters. We had a very pleasont stay. Thanks to all the staf.

I went to Nabucco with my Buddy Sister for diving - everything perfect! Nice big clean bungalow, very good and professional service in housekeeping, restaurant and diving center. Excellent food and a cozy sundowner bar. Friska and Martin are very friendly hosts and help you with everything. The dive sites are unspoiled and the guides do a great job. Visiting Maratua island is worth it, you can see local culture. All transfers are organized.Snorkeling in jellyfish lake is also an experience you should not miss. Go see this paradise!

I have just spent a wonderful week on this little piece of heaven. Was absolutely perfect. The dives with amazing coral gardens, endless turtle spottings and all kind of fish plus makro. Not having so much experience Friska and Martin took particularly care and also introduced me into drift diving so I could join big fish country and spot my first riff sharks. Super friendly staff, calm atmosphere, oceanfront bungalow with sunrise, kingfisher, see eagles, warans, good food, delicious barbecue, day trip to Kakaban and the jeyfish lake, exciting snorkeling and not to forget Friska a Martins nice company. They do a great job to make you feel in paradise!
