Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an amazing time touring Scotland recently, staying in some beautiful places. But a special thanks has to go to the management and the whole team operating The 1645 Inn. To simply praise the great hospitality, quality restaurant, efficient bar staff, and the amazing Scottish breakfasts, doesn’t do it justice… This is a team that cannot do enough for its guests… The staff, going above and beyond to create special moments for our 5 year old son will last in our memories forever and were a highlight of the entire vacation. The evenings filled with live traditional music in the bar, from talented local musicians, delivered everything we could have hoped for from our trip. The hotel is in a perfect location, close to Culloden (a 'must visit' for all “Outlander” TV show fans), and other iconic attractions, Loch Ness, Inverness and Nairn Beach to name but a few. We have since gladly recommended this venue to friends and colleagues, and as a family, we look forward to one day returning to the Highlands and staying at The 1645 Inn!

Stayed in Room 1 for 4 nights. The room is small with only one stool other than the bed to sit on. I tightened the stool leg screws by hand! The big black mark however is the shower. It needs to be renamed "trickle". Was out visiting relatives so only ate Breakfast which was very good. All the staff were friendly and welcoming.

We stayed for one night and although the room was small (rm 11) it was immaculate and had lovely comfy beds. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had dinner and breakfast and both were very good. If we are in the area again we would definitely stay here again.

Such a beautiful little hotel pub restaurant with a lovely quirky twist in decor . Welcoming as soon as you set foot inside .The car park is large with a nice out front sitting area . A lovely little entrance with a gift stand where you can buy handmade jewellery The employees were all well dressed, and jovial. The front of house was an excellent helpful receptionist who was knowledgeable in all aspects of what we needed and she escorted us to our room . The bedroom was of average size nicely decorated with quality hotel bedding . Some nice additions of a tv, refreshments and some nice Scottish cookies and shortbread and some informative reading brochures. Unfortunately the shower had not been cleaned in a long time . That was a months worth of grime . Mouldy silicone and dirt and pink soap scurve in the corners . The shower was hot but had no pressure and just trickled out . This was disappointing as I feel it was just accepted this was ok . Towels were nice and fluffy and they even had time to water stamp a flower on the new toilet roll . Would I use this hotel again , yes I would , but I’ll check the shower on arrival . In the cleaners defence the shower door opening was so tiny I doubt you couldn’t bend inside and would actually need to kneel outside to undertake cleaning.

Thank you for your review:) we welcome you taking time to write such detailed feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have been upgrading the Inn over the last four years and I agree with you that the older shower rooms are not as good as they should be. Our schedule to do this last Spring was put on hold due to the huge hike in utility prices and to compensate, we kept our room rates the same as last year. I can assure you though that the showers are cleaned on a daily basis - but not the best looking and awkward to clean. It is our priority to get these upgraded at the earliest. I can only apologise for the inconsistency as our small team do work hard to make our guests stay as enjoyable as possible but we have to work with what we have.

I stayed here recently on business and was disappointed at the lack of flexibility with the staff regarding a hot meal, due to staffing issues. A blackboard outside greets you with the unwelcome news that no food will be served on the premises that day. It's not the kind of welcome you are expecting after a 250-mile drive. Advise was to check out the local eateries in Nairn. Common courtesy would be to advise guests in advance of the scaled down facilities, enabling customers to make alternative arrangements elsewhere. The last thing a business traveller or tourist wants to do is jump back in the car in search of a hot meal. As someone who spends three or four nights a month in the area, I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

Thank you for your feedback. Apologies for food being unavailable that evening but we had no kitchen staff that day, so not inflexible - just not available. I recall your arrival and requesting a ‘discount’ as there was no meals available …although you had only booked for Bed & Breakfast (already at a reduced rate). We had contacted all guests with food reservations that the kitchen was closed, put up signage and posted on fb. I would recommend that guests who would like a meal, book in advance - as you did for breakfast. There are lots of eateries in Nairn - 3 miles along the road. However, like ourselves, many are closed on set days due to staff shortages. Our small team work very hard and time off at quieter times is the best business option. Absolutely, you can go elsewhere next time you are in the area. Thank you for your thoughts.
