PARENTS - BEWARE (UNSAFE EXPERIENCE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN) Let me get right to the point by saying the Peniche surf instructor left our 16 year old son at the beach after his group lesson ended with no adult supervision. His surf group had 5 kids in it and they left the water and beach with only 4 kids. We had booked a private lesson which we had confirmed numerous times prior to arrival. When we arrived the private lesson was nowhere to be found. The solution was to add him to a group class that was already in progress. They rushed him down the beach and asked us to walk down and watch. Without any clear directions on where he would be located we walked up and down the beach for over 30 minutes before we finally found him in the water. Then after the lesson ended we watched his instructor and group exit the water and proceed up the beach while our son stayed in the water. There was no attempt to retrieve him by the instructor. We were able to flag him down and get him to come out but at that point his group was gone. We began to walk the beach looking for other Peniche instructors to figure out what to do with his board. We finally found another class who said to leave the board with them and instructed us to walk back to the office. When we arrived at the office and explained what had happened to the on staff manager who needed to call his boss to discuss a solution which was initially partial credit to our credit card. After further discussing the situation with the manager the point that finally hit home for him was that their instructor left my son in the water at the beach with no supervision. They admitted that SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. This was a completely unprofessional and unsafe experience and I would hate to see another family go through this as well.

Perfect place to take surf classes. Always a spot where you can surf. Instructors/staff are really cool, they know their job, they love sharing their passion. It's a good place to meet people as well. Really nice atmosphere

I stayed there for a week with the 7 days/5days of class package. It was my first-time surfing and it was an incredible and overall fantastic experience thanks to the organisation, the staff and the people at the camp. The classes are well organised, every day the instructor and head of the camp choose the appropriate time and best spot depending on weather condition for your group and your level. The group are limited in numbers, the smallest I saw was a group of three and I didn't see any group bigger than 5 people while I stayed there. As you start the class/classes you are paired with people with the same experience so that you can progress accordingly to what you level is. The instructors are great, everyone is ready for a chat, to give advice and help out in the best way they can. As instructor I had Inés for the week: super positive and energetic, encouraging, and ready to chat and precisely guide you through the steps with an enormous amount of patience. By the end of the week I felt that I made good and positive progress but mostly that I had a fantastic and fun time. In terms of facilities, the place is great. I was in a 4 beds shared room and the beds are well built and comfortable, you get a single closet with a key (no need for a locket), linen and towels. The kitchen is big, with a dedicated box/shelf for groceries and it's quite complete in terms of cutlery, pans, and what you might need. Staffing at the camp is great and always ready to help, might it be to take a break from classes, add more or if you want to organize an excursion around Baleal/Peniche or further. Twice a week they organize camp dinners (Tuesday and Friday) which are a good opportunity to meet the other people in the camp and have a good evening/night out (highly recommended, they’re not only a lot of fun but really good value for money). Regarding clothes and wardrobe, be sure to bring comfortable and warm things to wear. While during the day it normally is warm during summer, the weather is chilly, especially at night/evening with wind which was pretty much a constant during my stay there. A windbreaker might be a good choice depending on the season while a jumper/hoodie is pretty much needed right after sunset. I cannot recommend a stay at this location more; the week I was there I had an incredible amount of fun and I’m already thinking when I will be able to head back for more.

We booked a full week surf camp with them and it exceeded our expectations. Great instructors who make sure you learn a lot but also have a lot of fun. We started out as complete beginners and at the end of our 5 days of surfing were catching green waves on our own. Did not think this all would go as smoothly. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm, which was roomy and clean. There was 2 of us and we did not have any roommates so we had plenty of space. Breakfast is continental style, but there is a lot of it so you never have to leave hungry. We also had dinners included in our package, but if I would come back, I would skip these as their quality was pretty low. There is good options around the camp to have dinner and there is also a kitchen where it's possible to cook on your own. Overall, this was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend it. Definitely planning on coming back here.

I booked a two-hour, private surf lesson for myself and my three kids, ages 5, 7, and 10, with Peniche Surf Camp, and it was the best experience we could have hoped and wished for. Lorenzo, who answered the phone, was very helpful, direct, and clear in helping us organize the private lesson when I spoke with him on the day before. We stopped by in person that same day to pay for half of the lesson up front. The two instructors, João and Nuno, seasoned surfers, were extremely friendly and helpful, and they made sure we had all of the equipment we needed for a fun and instructive lesson. The point of the lesson was to get an introduction to surfing, and once they taught us the basic safety information of surfing and the ocean (key point: rip tides and the channels they flow in), they got us into the water quickly and helped us to get surfing. Long before the end of the lesson they got all of the kids standing up on their boards and riding a wave, while I was still just trying to stay balanced to not fall off of my own board. And though the focus was on the kids, they also came to help me to try to get me surfing like the kids (though mostly unsuccessfully). Joao and Nuno took their time with each of the kids, and after the lesson they horsed around with us on the beach until it was time to go back. After we got changed we went for a quick coffee with them, since the kids absolutely wanted to hang out with them for a bit longer. The whole experience was friendly, fun, professional, and in no way rushed. The kids and I can highly recommend taking a surfing lesson through this surfing school, and when we make it back to Portugal and Peniche, we will definitely be coming back for more lessons and more serious surfing with Peniche Surf Camp.

I had such a greate time at PSC. Everthing went just fine from booking till check out. The surfclasses went awsome, i started by zero (never stand on a surfboard before) and at the end we could ride greenwaves, doing turns and so on. It was defenitly not my last time there. Again, thanks so much to PSC Team for that good time

We stayed in the surf camp for two nights and had two days of lessons. The water was great for our level (beginners) and the surf instructor (Tiago) could not have been more patient and explanatory with our team and especially with me as it took me longer to get up on the board. The surf camp is very clean and has a great rooftop terrace where you can enjoy great ocean views while having a drink. All in all, I loved this experience most of our trip!

That feeling that I felt living for one week at Peniche Surf Camp is like living at your own home, my second home! Staff simply extraordinary and superb services (cleaning, food, entertainment, surf courses). The atmosphere that you can feel in this unique place is undescribable, enchanting and international. The people that I met during my stay here came from all over the world, and after almost one year I'm still in contact with most of them. After this experience I think my surfer's attitude definitely came out, and I'm still searching that feeling again, something completely free, unlimited and open-minded. I'm totally sure I'll come back to this place again in the future. It fed my soul!
