Best family surf camp

We stayed for the third year in a row for our family surf week. As always, the hosts have been amazing, accommodating all our needs and making sure both adults and kids could improve their surf and enjoy. Would recommend to any family wishing to have a totally stress free experience, and in depth introduction to surfing (all levels).

Great hosts, cozy place and beach nearby

We have stayed at Green House (the one in Baleal) for 11 nights, and it has been awesome! The hosts are really nice and helpful (they have been answering all our questions about transport, weather and all the stuff even before we arrived), breakfasts are tasty and fresh. We lived in a double room on the second floor with a private bathroom. Altogether, the House can acommodate 8 people (2 double rooms and 1 room for 4 people), so it is never too crowded there. The kitchen is big and has all the supplies you might need for cooking, and there is also a room with big TV and plenty of DVD movies to choose from. The supermarket is 5 minutes of walk away, and the beach is 10 minutes away. The closest pharmacy is 5-7 minutes away. Basically, everything in Baleal is close :) You can also agree on having surf classes at Escola de Surf de Peniche for a very good price and transfer to Peniche included. Definitely will come back to this place again.…

Supernice, chill, the best

The most loveable owner/surf teacher, he was super chill and nice. Generous prices, generous service, felt like he was more a friend before anything else. Also a shoutout to one of his young surf teachers James, super motivating and nice stud. A fresh Breakfast in the morning served, we had the luck that next to other fruit maracujas were ripe in his garden that he brought by. Surfvibes at its best. 🤙

Nice bnb

The house is clean, breakfast is provided at 9am, a bit distant from the beach if without your own transportation. The supermarket is quite close and there is a kitchen. The house surroundings Can feel a little deoressing since most houses nearby are empty and the closest shops are 5 min walking away from it.

Just Fabulous

Lovely house that looks quite small from outside but absolutely huge inside. Nice and bright and very open feel. Situated in a great location, not too far to the sea no matter which direction you walk and local amenities only a few minutes away. Ferrell is not too far either, walking distance, if you need just a wee bit more than Baleal has. Sergio who runs Green House is a fabulous guy, very friendly and super helpful, an absolute star. His nephew NuNu and partner Katea (sorry for any dodgy name spelling) were also wonderful and made us feel very welcome. They also helped us with travel and made sure we got to the hostel and also took us back to the bus station in Peniche to get home. Special thanks to Katea for checking the bus times for us. We had booked the 'penthouse' room at the top of the house and it was huge, as was the bathroom. Ideal if you have kids as the two beds under the lower ceiling would suit them. The breakfasts were great and were already set out for us every day when we got downstairs. There is also an enclosed garden at back of the house and ideal if you surf. Space to wash down your gear and hang up your wet-suit. It's not a far walk if you want to head along to the causeway and enjoy the surfing both morning and afternoon depending on the wind direction. Even if you don't surf it's postcard pretty and worth the walk. We hope that we will be going back at some point and would definitely stay here again. Would share photos as it is beautiful, the weather was great for January, but can't get them uploaded!…

Super chill!

I had an amazing stay here last week. The Place is great and Rui, house manager, is fantastic. Breakfast is served every day with Fresh croissants and coffe. You Can borrow bikes for Free, I did everyday before brekky and did a spot check. Great bike ride down to the beach. You also have a Great movie room with the most relaxed chill area all time. I reccommend everyone to stay here, hosts and guests are just the best and we all had Great breakfasts together every day. Rui Will help u with everything and give u local tips.

Top, close to the beach, nice accommodation, clean!

Nice accommodation. We travelled with a baby, and everything was perfect, even a cradle was in the room! The room, and the common areas were clean! Nice atmosphere, and excellent breakfast ! Very close to the beach, and easy access to all facilities.

Just perfect

I had such a great time at Green House, Baleal. The main purpose was to wind down from my very busy and stressful life for a few days and Rui and the Green House certainly helped me do that. The place is simple but clean and welcoming. Rui has a really laid back and chilled out manner and gave great recomendations for eating and activities during my stay. I had the double room on the first floor. You should remember that this is house and, for example, the bathroom while private was not ensuite. But the vibe was friendly and chilled and everyone i met was very nice which i welcomed as I was travelling on my own. Thanks Rui for a great stay!

Relaxed, beautiful, perfect service - The place to stay in Baleal!

This was our first stay in Portugal, and now we have most definitely fallen in love with Baleal, thanks to Rui and the Green House. We stayed in the grand suite on the top floor of the hostel, which was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The hostel was fully equipped with modern amenities and the added bonus of a good BBQ and movie room! Breakfast was always immaculately presented, and had a great choice of fresh produce - excellent value, and the best way to start the day! The hostel is situated off of the main road; far enough away from the bustle of activity, to be able to enjoy some peace and quiet in the back garden, whilst still only being 10 minutes walk from the beach! Excellent proximity to the coast and local shops, bars and restaurants, with the chance to explore further into Peniche or along the stunning coastline - we highly recommend renting bikes, as it is the best way to see all the sights. There are plenty of places to rent boards and wetsuits or tuition/coaching for both beginners and experienced surfers. There is also lots of coastline to explore - there are nearly always waves somewhere close by! Most importantly, the service that you will receive at the Green House is full of passion and care; nothing is ever too much trouble. We received an incredibly warm welcome that extended through the entirety of our stay. The owner (Rui) ensures that your stay has a personal touch, whether you are there for one night or one month. Rui has a wealth of local knowledge that he is keen to share, and can offer this advantage over other similar establishments in the area. Overall, this is the perfect place for lone travellers, couples or small groups to explore and indulge in the local area and coastline, whilst still enjoying the luxuries of a modern hostel. We will most definitely be returning soon, maybe we will see you there!…

Excellent, clean and amazing manager

I stayed here recently and can honestly say it's the best hostel experience I've had. The manager really goes the extra mile and he genuinely cares about his guests, quality service. Short walk to the beach, if you're wanting to surf in Baleal there is no better place to rest and wake up fresh.
