We stayed at this lodge as part of our Alps to Ocean cycle ride. Despite our bunkrooms being very tight for four adults the actual lodge was lovely. The views over the lake superb. Great facilities to relax and eat and drink as you liked in the actual lodge. The price of the accommodation included a three course meal at...

Hi there. I agree that the bunk rooms are very tight for four adults but at $95 each which includes your 3 course dinner and a cooked breakfast it's excellent value. That's great that you thought the Lodge was lovely and really, sometimes it's only a bed you need and you can enjoy all the Lodge facilities and spend your...

We stayed for one night only which was our last night in NZ as a part of group. The location is stunning with great views . The sky is lovely at night with very little light pollution you could see the Milky Way clearly The manager and staff are exceptionally friendly , welcoming and efficient. The rooms are comfortable facing...

Gosh! Well that's me so thank you! It's nice to say goodbye to the groups who stay as it's hard to get around everyone. Aren't we fortunate to be able to see that sky? It makes me think that I must take time to wrap up in a blanket ... or two and stay out on the next beautiful night....

We decided to add a night to our long weekend and rang on the day we arrived....grateful to find they had a room. We had never been before. It was amazing value for money. We arrived on dusk and got great service from the moment we checked in. Dinner was at 7 and there was a tour group at one...

Thank you so much for your really lovely review. You have responded to some of the issues raised by the previous reviewer which is greatly appreciated and lovely to have some balance in perspective. I'm so sorry about the smell that you had in the bathroom in Room 67. I have been to check it and there is nothing there...

We didn't do our homework properly. When we thought of a lodge, we though more of a lodge like you would get in Europe, so it came as an awful shock to us to find we were in a room with no fridge or jug for a cup of tea Dinner and breakfast were included in the price, but this...

I'm sorry that you were disappointed but thank you for your review as it is important to understand where we fail to meet our guest's expectations. You would have been staying in our outside Huxley wing which is for people who are more budget conscious. On our website everything is clearly set out as to the facilities in the rooms....

We booked a one night dinner bed and breakfast package this weekend whilst cycling the alps to ocean. We were not expecting great things! We booked the Huxley rooms which we were told had an en-suite but very basic. We thought they were awesome. Actually liked being away a little bit from the lodge. They were spotlessly clean, really warm,...

Oh! Thank you so much! How kind! Yes, I think being away from it all can be quite good in the Huxley wing, as long as it's not pouring with rain. When my family come to stay they often quite like staying as "a gang" over there. It's a fun place for a big group and can be quieter as...

Spent our last night in New Zealand here and what a climax to the tour. Away from it all in comfortable rooms, good food and stunning views. Service from the staff was excellent and would have loved to have spent more time here to soak up the atmosphere.

Oh thank you! I imagine when you've come from cities all over the world that it's great to be away from it all and experience something very kiwi. We hope that maybe you can come and stay again.

I stayed here recently as part of my 'Contiki' tour and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately we were only here for one night but found the lodge to be very clean and comfy. The views from our room were incredible and we even took the little walk down to the lake for a swim (it was very very cold). The included...

A delightful stay in room overlooking L Ohau up to Mt Cook. Delicious dinner seated with 5 other guests, all very compatible and interesting. Would recommend dinner, bed & breakfast deal. Our meal was choice of wild venison or local salmon served with pumpkin & mandarin mash, dessert generous portion of plum cake, raspberry couli etc

That is lovely to read that you enjoyed your stay. We have always encouraged guests to sit with others. Our receptionists try to seat guests with others whose company they think they'd enjoy so I'm glad it was good for you. Yes, the dinner, bed and breakfast package is great and if you are biking the A2O trail, we offer...

A perfect place for our last night in New Zealand on Saga's New Zealand Contrasts. The Lodge was like being in an opulent Chalet in Switzerland. The bedrooms are delightful and there is no time to miss a TV. We all had rooms facing Lake Ohau with nothing to obstruct our views. A short walk takes you down beside the...

Hi there and thank you for your lovely review. I hope your trip home to the UK wasn't too arduous. As part of the Saga Land of Contrasts tour, it is Saga who provide the farewell drinks, not Lake Ohau Lodge so I'm sorry everyone, free drinks can not be expected!! Yes, we have sandflies when there is dampness in...
