Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel and restaurant were a disappointment. The ‘special offer’ of £200 per night for a two night stay priced not to be such a good deal. We had a twin room. Only one set of toiletries for two people for two nights. No bath robes. Pillows were synthetic and flat. Window paintwork was dirty and peeling. It was painted shut. The flush on the toilet was all but impossible to operate. It was a button on the wall and needed two hands to have any chance of it working. We ate in on the first night. The food was average at best. Both mornings the cooked breakfast was overcooked. The toast was brought on the first morning as we were eating yoghurt and king before any cooked food. On the second morning I asked for fried eggs and bacon. It took ages to arrive and the bacon was inedible. Hard and dry. So disappointing. Our bill came to £461.38. I run a B&B so know it was overpriced for what we got. The only positive was the two tiny granola bites in the room.

This was our second stay here this year, we stayed for 3 nights . The staff were excellent and the food at breakfast and in the restaurant was equally as good. Great atmosphere in the bar on Friday and Saturday nights. Will definitely return.

Sunday lunch on 29th October 2023 - very poor. Waited a considerable time to order our drinks and still longer to receive them. My husband ordered roast beef which arrived almost completely cold and had no gravy or horseradish, which he brought to the attention of the staff. He was offered a fresh helping, however he received the exact same helping back, now swimming in gravy, and the whole plateful had presumably been reheated in some way. The pork belly I received was not crispy as I had expected and consisted of precisely four small mouthfuls of pork. The roast potatoes were delicious but the vegetables (kale and broccoli) were almost totally raw and also cold. A couple seated behind us made exactly the same comments and announced that when they next had something to celebrate they certainly wouldn’t be going to The Ship. On paying the, not inconsiderable, bill my husband’s polite comments were treated with disdain and no hint of an apology. We have been to The Ship many times over the years but will steer clear in the foreseeable future.

Extremely comfortable and friendly hotel with excellent staff. The food is very good also. Lovely comfortable bed . Only blip was arrived back at 9 pm on the Sunday evening and the bar was closed so not able to enjoy a night cap . Otherwise everything was very good . We ate in the restaurant and food and service were excellent. Much better than some pretentious places nearby

Booked for Sunday lunch before leaving for our holiday. Thought it might be busy and it was. Met up with a friend and everything was very nice. The Sunday menu was a bit limited but the food and service were both good. We finished off our meal outside for coffee which was a nice touch.

Lovely place to stay, perfect for Brancaster Golf Club. Room was very nice, bed was comfortable, plus good shower and bathroom. WiFi was a bit hit and miss. The food was excellent, we had evening meal and breakfast. Service could have been better at breakfast, but it was good for evening meal. My main complaint, which is why I rated 3 Stars, was to do with the electric charging facilities. People need to be aware that the chargers are only available from 10pm to 6am! I didn't have a great experience, as was promised that the charger would be turned on at the end of the evening, but wasn't! So this left me in a bit of a predicament. Luckily, I had enough charge to get to another charger on way home. We would stay there again.

Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights. Reserved parking for residents, quaint outside area, and traditional bar restaurant. Food very good for breakfast and evening meals, breakfast did take a while to serve. One or two loud young staff on behind the bar but enthusiastic to chat. Room great, (2) decent sized bathroom and comfy bed. Had to ask for a fan as it was quite stuffy. I would stay again.

We have stayed twice at The Ship and it has been great both times. Lovely rooms, great comfy beds with lovely bed and treats for our dog. The dogs are made to feel as welcome as the guests and are fine to bring to breakfast and in the bar. Staff are fab - lovely and welcoming and great service. It is a bit expensive but it is worth it. If prices go any higher though, I would look for an alternative.

We enjoyed a very comfortable couple of nights at The Ship Hotel. Our Room, No4, fronted the road and was a little noisy as we chose to sleep with the window open but we had been upgraded to a junior suite so certainly have no cause for complaint. The accommodation was well appointed and the bathroom, with plenty of hot water, was lovely. The beverages etc provided were very nice. We had dinner on our first night and enjoyed that and the generous breakfasts very much. The hotel is just a 15 minute walk from the glorious Brancaster beach and a short drive to Holkham Hall and Sandringham. It is located on a lovely coastline and we would recommend a visit to the hotel, if only for a drink, in the course of a busy holiday.

We stayed for 2 nights, our room was number 7, right on the top floor. Which was fine, however there was no shower, just mixer taps in the bath, with no screen. This would have become more of a problem if we’d stayed longer as it was a right faff! However the room was lovely - absolutely spotless and very quiet. All the staff we encountered were all very helpful and approachable. The cleaning team were brilliant and were able to get us a fan for the room as it was a tad hot! We ate in the restaurant and the food was very enjoyable. Breakfast is included and very good too. You will not regret staying here - switch off and get into Norfolk time.

Room Tip: Room 7 only has mixer taps - and trying to have a make do ‘shower’ is a faff!
