If Debre Markos is not so touristy place, I think Tilik hotel would be good enough for Ethiopian standard. This is a more than simple place. I didn't choose this hotel but it was included in the group tour I joined. According to the itinerary, this is SIMPLE hotel. Yes it is very correct and I totally agree with it....

The hotel is OK but the food isn't so great. Well the french fries were good but I kept asking for salt and ketchup. The waiters were so stupid. I'm being kind here! When my chicken showed up the french fries were stone cold so I ordered more and asked for ketchup and salt which never came. I went and...

We stayed here one night on our way driving from Addis to Bahar Dar. Our guide apologized for our having to stay here but said it was the best the town had to offer. In that case I suggest finding another route or leaving earlier and driving longer. This place was awful and depressing. Fortunately I had my dreamsack with...

We decided on this hotel because it had been recommended on Tripadvisor and regretted our choice. The guy at reception was very helpful and very confidant that the hotel was great and we accepted his word. The bed was the worst (old, saggy and moved in different directions) that we have slept in in Ethiopia and that is quite an...

We stayed for two months while doing volunteer work. Very good rooms and great service for local standards. We were treated like family. Problems with frequent power outages and variable wifi. One of the best restaurants in town.

Considering the town, this hotel isn't bad. However, my bed was full of fleas, so bring your sleeping bag. The mini-fridge was a nice surprise and the food in the restaurant was acceptable although nothing special.

This hotel charges twice the price for people of the white race. This is outrageous racism. This is not tolerable in a city which normally does not practice racism. I recommend that all foreigners stay away from this hotel in protest because many hotels are available that do not practice flagrant racism.

Originally we were scheduled to stay at the Sebel Hotel. However, after a first look at the room we were assigned we decided to leave. I know that we were in Ethiopia, but this place was really quite a dump. Our guide drove us to the newer Tilik Hotel. It was functional, clean and good value for money, in fact...

“The road noise at night with dogs barking all night keeps you up. Then the roosters never stop after 5 AM. Yes Roosters are always cawing in the early AM and the dogs never shut up!”
