This visit wasn’t planned, a spur of the moment thing, but that was meant to be because we had a lovely meal served by two excellent young people! We choose the set menu and we both enjoyed different starters, beautifully presented, delightful little tasty plates . For the main course we had the chicken pie , with wonderful 🥮 pastry, mashed potatoes and cabbage ,non pretentious, delicious food. We stayed a while , enjoying a little chat between courses with our charismatic waitress and waiter…so very pleasant .

We keep going back to the Peacock Inn because every time we go we have an absolutely delicious meal. In my view this is the finest fine dining we have ever tasted. Every dish is beautifully presented, the ingredients are obviously carefully chosen for their complementary flavours and are often put together in a unique and unexpected way. The dining room is small, the tables are far enough apart so it is not too noisy and all the staff are friendly and courteous and give you space and time to enjoy your meal. Nothing feels rushed or too much trouble and as far as I can tell everyone is treated like a VIP. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough although part of me doesn’t want to because then everybody will want to go there and we won’t be able to get a table!

We went today for a birthday lunch and the meal was excellent, the friendly welcome and pleasant atmosphere made this a special occasion. The village of Chelsworth is a lovely English village of historic properties and well worth a walk after your meal to explore .

Had a lovely meal here today. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from Annabelle. We were seated quickly and Annabelle made a fuss of our dog and bought him a bowl of water, which was nice.An excellent menu with various options.I had the pan roasted Hake and my husband the on the bone sirloin steak. Both were very nice.Jack front of house was very polite and helpful. The service was excellent. The pub is very cosy with a log fire by the bar and in the smaller dining area. Also has a very relaxed atmosphere and ambience. We really enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning in the near future.

We found The Peacock on the site Stay in a Pub. What a great find it was. Charming and cosy country pub. Very welcoming team and the young manager was a great host. We tacked a short stay at The Peacock onto the end of our honeymoon and we're delighted we did. Amazing food. Clean and modern bedroom and en suite. Thank you.

Great service, great food, if you are a foodie that appreciates good ingredients being showcased very well this is the place. Far better meal than the unruly pig, for now this remains a hidden gem. My only suggestion would be black out curtains in the rooms. Thank you for a nice meal and stay.

What a gem! This is not a part of the country I know well, we were travelling from London to a party in a neighbouring village - the Peacock was a recommendation we had from hosts. It was beyond all expectation! Just 2 hours car journey and you're in the most charming little spot, proper rural idyll, quaintly opposite a little stone bridge and river - pheasants pottering around a salmon pink cottage opposite. This pint-sized 14th century Inn is the ticket for a little escape. Our room was creaky and sweet the bed cosy and although we didn't manage to get an ensuite room we did have a washbasin and were next door to a sizeable, clean bathroom equipped with plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries. It gets better...the food here is absolutely sublime, I mean real stop- you- in your- tracks good (and we live in London). Everything feels like it's only travelled from the next field - the execution is inventive but also familiar and beautifully balanced/judged. The chef here ioves what he does and it translates onto the plate. The duck was the perfect autumn dish; the warmth of an open farm, a perfect pint of Guinness and very good choice of wines - It was great start to our weekend. We couldn't quite believe our luck and congratulated ourselves over deliciousness and good fortune. But this place goes the extra mile...the hospitality here is second to none. The girls that looked after us in the restaurant were attentive, available and totally charming without being too much. The real star here though is Jack. He is the Manager (perhaps Owner) and he completed it for us - the perfect host - nothing was ever too much bother - even dropping my husband to another pub to catch the end of a game (it was rugby and world-cup that weekend). I can't speak more highly of this place. All I can say, if you want a little escape, then this is the whole package - just a shame we hadn't gone for another night and walked the beautiful surroundings too. Go!
