We stayed here by getting a deal through Secret Escapes & it couldn't have been better. Approimately 2 miles from Reading centre and near the river Thames. Very close to a number of National trust sites which we visited. The rooms which were seperate from the hotel building were warm & well appointed. The meal, Great with Generous portions of...

Stayed here on business recently. A pleasant change from chain hotels - the rooms are cosy, warm and quiet with comfy beds. Had breakfast twice and an evening meal and they were all genuinely fantastic - far better than your average pub and better than a lot of dedicated restaurants. I thought the pub had a nice atmosphere and the...

We had lunch here this afternoon and were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food. The service was very good but the food really stood out for it's superb taste and presentation. We had not been to the Crown for some time but will most definitely be returning in the not too distant future. We were only there for...

We loved our travel zoo stay here! Stayed in room 9 which was nicely presented throughout! The mattress was a little soft for me but it was sooo quiet we almost didn't wake up in time for breakfast which can be taken right up to 10.30! The food was superb! I had duck and my husband had the rib eye,...

We had xmas dinner at the Crown in 2015 and this was so good we booked again for 2016. It was another outstanding meal with superb service. It is such a risk to urn your xmas over to strangers, but the Crown have done us proud as they always do. I can't think of another place that you can review...

We have been around many places over the 35 years and settled on The Crowne some years ago. Ambience, ale, food, service all excellent as usual but as it is now part of a group the prices have gone up by quite a bit. We will see next year if there is any more feedback.

We visited here with friends for Sunday lunch. It didn't start well as we were told our table had been cancelled two days previously when clearly it hadn't! The restaurant was very busy, but we took a seat in the bar and within half an hour they had found us a table. The carvery was a huge success, the portions...

We wanted an overnight stop while we visited a couple of National Trust properties in the Home Counties and found the Crown's sister pub - some reviews of which recommended The Crown. This location suited us better. The lady answering when I phoned was hugely helpful, suggesting a Travel Zoo DB&B offer comeing in a few days. It all looked...

We stayed on a Secret escapes dinner bed and breakfast deal, a lovely quaint old country inn with lots of atmosphere ,on arriving we were shown to our room in the building at the rear of the inn, very much like a modernised stable block, very cosy with a king size bed a walk-in shower and good sized TV. The...

It's a gorgeous old building - low timbered ceilings, traditional fireplaces, a lovely little bar at one end, lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. This is exactly why we love staying at inns sometimes, rather than hotels. It was so inviting that we stayed in the bar for several hours before heading to our room. The room was...
