We are a 17th Century thatched freehouse pub in the middle of a beautiful chocolate box Dorset village. Serving excellent homemade local food, real ales and good wines. We also have six ensuite B&B guest rooms housed in a separate building at the rear of the pub. I visited today with my husband, sister and her partner for lunch and this was our first meal out since Lockdown was lifted. We arrived after a long dog walk in the area and although not planned, they made our two dogs very welcome in the garden, even bringing a bowl of water, as we didn't want to leave them in the car. The owners and staff have gone to a lot of trouble to make eating here a very safe and pleasant experience. The gardens are in full bloom and the new gazebos are a very special touch. If anyone is worried about going out to eat try The Langton Arms. Temperatures are taken on arrival and there is plenty of hand sanitiser and the staff were their usual charming selves but kept the required distance from guests. We all had a different meal which were all up to the usual high standard as were the chosen wines. Thank You all and see you again soon

We have visited this pub many times and the food is always excellent, but we ventured out for a family meal with my parents foe the first time since lockdown. We were greeted at the entrance and had our temperature checked, hand sanitiser and the escorted to individual gazebo tents set over the picnic tables. It was super cosy and set in the rose garden which made us feel safe and comfortable. Service was outstanding. Well done for an inspired solution to social distance dining!

I would highly recommend staying here we had the most lovely stay in a beautiful location and setting close distance to Bournemouth, west bay and sandbanks by car.
The room was clean (dog friendly) with beautiful wild surroundings listening to all the birds in the morning sat out with all the flowers was my favourite. We booked a meal which was delicious and breakfast also. I was really impressed and would certainly return the staff were extremely helpful.
My only recommendation would be to supply hairdryers in the room would be useful.

Dear Kayleigh, Thank you for your fabulous review. There should be a hairdryer in every room. We have put it at the top of our list to check. Our only thought is, someone may have packed it by mistake or it’s hidden in a draw. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards The Langton Arms

We had our wedding reception at The Langton Arms two weeks ago (17th July), and Barbara and her team couldn't have been more kind and accommodating. Everything went perfectly and was exactly as we had hoped!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and shown into their beautiful gardens, where we were served ice cold Pimms and Appletisers. It was just what was needed after the journey from our ceremony in Poole. The canapés that were served along with the drinks were wonderful, not cheap buffet style food; homemade, flavoursome, and delicious!

The two-course meal was just as lovely, again it was quality homemade food, we couldn't fault it. The staff provided fantastic table service, very attentive to anything we may need and had a great rapport with everyone that attended - young and old. They had decorated the function room so beautifully and the attention to detail didn't go unnoticed.

On into the evening the staffs brilliant service continued, their positive energy from the beginning of the day remained throughout, and we have no idea how they keep going! Nothing was too much trouble and any help we needed was attended to right away.

We cannot thank you enough for making our wedding day so special and memorable. The whole process from meeting Barbara to the big day was made so easy and pleasant.

We would highly recommend The Langton Arms for hosting private parties. Their attentiveness, patience and kindness know no bounds, and they really will go above and beyond to make your day so very special. Exceptional service, outstanding staff, in a beautiful setting!

It was nice to see added measures at this difficult time including lovely gazebos in the garden .. however I was extremely disappointed at the menu along with the price.. Lasagne £18 ! I think this is massively overpriced and wonder if they have increased the prices to coincide with the government scheme in August or there are some hidden ingredients like fillet steak or truffle sauce ..

Dear gp726, Thank you for coming to see us. We have worked hard at getting back to business & have put lots of new measures in place to keep customers and staff safe. We have not put prices up to coincide with the government scheme, all our ingredients are fresh & all dishes are homemade by highly skilled expensive chefs!!! We also needed to hire extra staff to comply with the government guidelines & a living wage increase during lockdown. All our beef is from our own herd which is 28 day dry aged on the bone and is as good as fillet steak & truffle oil- I can assure you. We are not a chain, we are an independent business working hard in these extremely challenging times. Stay Safe, Barbara Cossins

We normally get up and go, but always phone just before departure and today we were in luck. Sunday lunch in the conservatory, sun shining through the windows. Young staff on the ball, so nice to us. Unusual roasts (for some people) pheasant, duck, as well as beef and chicken, all £18+. 4 white wines from Romania, Spain, Italy and Portugal, none known to me, reds included a Malbec. Certainly not overpriced from £6 per glass. Complimentary wee 'cup-a-soup' home made and delicious. Roast beef superb, veg perfect (thanks for putting the dreaded red cabbagey stuff separate) large yorkshire, roasties and enough gravy. Didn't have to ask for the horseradish, and mustard came too. Altogether a perfect meal in lovely surroundings. If I didn't live so close, I would stay here as well!!

Took some fiends out here for a lunch and we weren’t disappointed. The ploughman’s is exceptional nicely presented and very tasty I had the mixed ploughman’s really recommend it. 2others had the potted crab served nicely with toast and a scotch egg, which was served warm and very tasty. The burger and chips was the final order their own beef as well. Once again not disappointed friendly staff still COVID safe. Just a shame the English weather let us down. We had booked to sit in one of their pods out in the pretty garden. But I was notified of the bad weather so we were relocated into the restaurant Thankyou Team Langton for a wonderful lunch date

Thank you to all of the team. My husband and I have just returned from a one night stay. The rooms were well appointed, clean and very comfortable. Dinner was wonderful, do try the steak it’s the best. Service was really attentive and friendly. I asked for a wine that wasn’t listed on the menu & although they didn’t have it, they recommended something similar which was equally as nice. We also asked for some produce from the butchers that was closed, the staff popped over & our meat was ready for collection after breakfast. So helpful! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely pub. Perfect for couples and families alike, they have a well maintained play park too. Thank you for such a lovely stay. Hope to see you all again soon.

Five of us for lunch and from the time we entered, the meet and greet made us very welcome and the friendly staff made us comfortable and relaxed. Drinks order taken quickly and the drinks came quickly too. Really nice professional people who presented us with a menu that was not too long yet gave a good and varied selection of dishes. I may be wrong but I suspect the menu does not change very often although they do offer specials. I suppose it could be described as a typical pub food menu in many respects. Nothing wrong with that and we chose a varied selection and our requests for minor changes were greeted with humour and readily accommodated.

The food was well cooked and presented, delicious and the quality of the ingredients was manifest. I can see the attraction of this pub with its idyllic setting, lovely ambiance inside, the friendly and helpful staff and the attraction of award-winning food. On that latter point, I must admit I was expecting a little bit more and I found it a little rustic around the edges to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, lovely food, delicious and I have no complaints. Well done guys, I enjoyed my visit.

Dear TJA950, thank you for your visit and your review, always much appreciated by us all here at The Langton Arms. Great to hear that the service, local food, ambience & warm welcome for your group was all as it should be and you enjoyed a delicious lunch. We are definitely a touch rustic with our food - generous portions, all made from scratch with love and everything sourced locally from our own farm or small Dorset suppliers around us, that community feel is key to our ethos. The menu has lots of favourites that stay with us & you're right, we then interject some specials depending what's in season & good to eat right now. We hope to see you all again. Best wishes, All at The Langton Arms

We have visited The Langton quite a few times, over the years. This was the first time with our grandchildren. The food was excellent and great value, with special mention for the crab and the fried beef. The children loved, not just the food, but the playground and the welcome they received from the lovely staff, and they felt quite ‘grown-up’. My grandson fell in love with the sheep. We will certainly bring the family back, the next time they come to Dorset to visit us.

Thank you Highway Girl, you're a true Langton Arms regular and we appreciate both your custom and your kind review. We're proud to be a real family freehouse pub, somewhere you visit where all ages can enjoy the countryside experience. Wonderful to hear that the grandchildren loved the garden & play area, & of course, the cute sheep! Very happy the crab & beef were worth a special mention and that everyone was well fed and watered and had a thoroughly nice time. A lovely, happy place is just what we want to be. We look forward to seeing you again when the family are back in Dorset! Best wishes, All at The Langton Arms

Thank you everyone for the vote of confidence. We are indeed already full for the DSF next year, a busy time! Sorry not to be able to help. Perhaps you could try Sarah Worrall's B&B at Launceston Farm and come to us for dinner!

Hi there, Thank you for your enquiry. We do have one guest room that is suitable for a wheelchair user. There is chair access but no actual wet room. It has a small step into a good size shower and the loo has a grab rail alongside it. The room works well if you are travelling with someone or have some mobility but doesn't work if you are a sole traveller and need to wheel yourself straight in. Hope that helps, please do give us a call on 01258 830225 if you have any other questions. Many thanks
