Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We recently stayed 2 nights at The Griffin and had a wonderful stay. The staff were polite, welcoming and attentive. The room was beautiful, clean and the bed was so comfy! The breakfast was delicious and the perfect start to the day. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

As an American, I cannot imagine a better place for an introduction to Wales. The bedroom is nice, the views terrific, the staff friendly, the food wonderful, and the beer authentic. Start here and then go deeper into Wales. Just a great place to stay.

The owners are incredibly obnoxious. They treat their guests worse than their poor staff and that's saying something. They genuinely believe they're a 4 or 5 star and that they're doing us a favour allowing us to pay to stay. On first inspection, the rooms were lovely, but Jesus, the dust, the definitely reused unwashed bedding bleugh and the smell of the place is just nasty. We woke at 4am and left as the beds were so uncomfortable. We have stayed in the area many times and they're the highest expense but lowest standards. Avoid.

This is the 3rd time I have visited this establishment and each time staff have been warm, friendly and attentive. We called in on Sunday mid afternoon after visiting Denbigh Castle. The Inn seemed to be emptying after what had appeared to have been a busy afternoon. We were found a table straight away and offered drinks with a smile. We both had a roast dinner which was tasty and plentiful. The staff here always seem very polite, enthusiastic and professional, which is nice not being a local in the area, it makes you feel like visiting again. The décor is clean and modern and the toilets are exceptionally spacious and clean. The pub is located amongst stunning scenery.

I have written quite a few reviews on TA over the years, and its always interesting to read those from others before I put fingers to the keyboard so to speak. Well all I can say is that I am well travelled and have stayed in a wide range of accommodation and The Griffin Inn ticked all the boxes relative to cost versus quality and value for money. I stayed two nights and the room, as per the bar and restaurant areas, have been tastefully renovated to a good standard. The room had its own temperature control for the heating, a very nice shower room with large walk in shower and heated towel rail. The bed was comfortable, a large TV, well stocked coffee and tea making facility and canned spring water restocked each day. Although you can hear a bit of occasional passing traffic, it was not an issue for me. The breakfast as were the two evening meals, really enjoyable and well cooked. The prices for the meals were also very reasonable in my opinion. The staff were friendly and the service attentive. I don’t often give full marks but the two days at the The Griffin were really good and I could not fault the stay. I would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

What a complete dump. Overpriced, greasy food which was awful and made me ill. Room was dirty and noisy traffic wakes you up very early in the morning. I will never visit this place again. Avoid this place.

I was one of 11 cyclists who had lunch at the Griffin following a lovely ride in the Vale of Clwyd. The lunch was superb , the chef using a lot of wonderful local produce. The owner and staff could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. The recent refurbishment is of the best quality and design and the loos are a wonder to behold

I really like what they’ve done with the interior of this inn. Tasteful, art-decor feel. Very reasonably priced menu. Alas, let down by an indifferent and an enthusiastic staff. When I complimented the pub to the barman his reply was, “Will problem be something different in two years time!”. Hardly a welcoming response. Has tremendously potential being, to my mind, the most comfortable pub for miles around. But, come on folks! Have some faith in your product!!

The place inside is lovely. Starter was very nice. The main meal arrived. The potato was dry. The gravy was like water and very bland. The carrots were freezing and when I complained the waitress said oh. And that was it. We paid the full price. But will never return.

We stayed here for two nights with family, this is a beautiful Inn. The staff were friendly and accommodating and by far the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in on holiday in the UK before. The bedding and furnishings were first rate. The food was excellent even the children loved the Seabass. Was a good base to explore LLandudno, we visited the great Orme via the tram. Also Ruthin Castle which was free to explore the remains and gardens. Thank you for making our stay wonderful and I would highly recommend Griffin Inn to my friends and family.
