An ideal base for a short break in Pembrokeshire. 5 minutes from beach and an easy 40 minutes walk to Tenby. Room was comfortable, a good size and well equipped. Breakfast was plate service because of covid-19 and all food was good value. It doesn't pretend to be fine dining, but is tasty and plentiful.

The staff were all friendly and helpful, and were very conscientious about room servicing.

My only slight quibble was that there was insufficient lighting in the bathroom to be able to shave...... everything else was spot on.

Would recommend the New Overlander as a good holiday base, although a car is needed to make the most of its location.

I said I was going to post a shocking review, but it would be impossible to say anything bad about The New Overlander,
We stayed for 3 nights in this delightful pub, the room we had was tastefully decorated along with the bathroom, very good lighting and a powerful shower.
This is very much a family run concern with the owners working very long hours.
On arrival we were advised to book a table if we were planning on eating in that evening as it can get busy, I am very glad we did as the food was excellent, it takes a little longer to arrive than in some places but is worth the wait we ate in each night , breakfast was also very good with a wide choice and no problems in adding to or removing items.
A special mention must go to Nicole Karen's daughter who kept us entertained and a big thanks to Brendan who was full of suggestions for places for us to visit.
We will most certainly be back should we ever be in the area and have already recommended it to friends.

Karen and the team were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the food is well cooked plentiful with a varied menu to suit all tastes. A lovely 10-minute walk to the beach and 5 min drive to the town. We had a fantastic holiday and will definitely stay here again.

Arrived for lunch, the "restaurant" was messy with files and duvets on the tables.
Hardly anything available that was on the menu, so was very limited.
Stowford press tasted off, told the "waiter" so he poured a fresh one and explained it was a new barrel so there should be nothing wrong with it. The pint he poured again, tasted disgusting.
When we went to pay the bill, as a manager of a bar myself I politely suggested to the waiter that he doesn't serve the Stowford Press to anyone else as it didnt taste right. He got very aggressive and had to walk off and get one of the kitchen staff to take over.
I wont be returning. I think customer service training should be considered.

Response from Kazliztul, Owner at New Overlander Inn
Responded 22 Jan 2020
I’m sorry you felt we looked messy. I did have some files out on one of our tables which i had been sorting out during a quiet morning, but didn’t think they caused us to look messy. The duvet was actually a crash mat for a bouncy castle left behind after a children’s party the previous day and I believe it was collected whilst you were here. We had two items not available on the menu, our apologies for this. You complained about the first pint poured of Stowford Press so Rob changed it for you and asked you to try it first and see if it was alright for you. You said it was fine and drank it all. When you then complained about it when you came to pay he pointed out that he had asked if it was ok. He asked me to calculate the bill as he felt unsure whether to charge for it or not at that point.

This hotel is a great location, 5 minutes to the beach and about a 40 minute walk along the beach into Tenby. Room was small but clean, tea and coffee plus snacks provided. Staff were very pleasant. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and it was very nice. Not much on offer for vegan diet but I am sure if we had of mentioned when we arrived they would have provided something for us. So that's our fault not theirs. The bar and restaurant does look like it could do with a bit of a makeover but the hospitality was so nice that didn't matter . Overall a very nice stay and would definitely book again . They are also managing the COVID 19 guidelines very well.

We stayed for one night and the room was comfortable and clean. We ate dinner in the restaurant. It was quite busy so there was a wait for food but when it arrived, it was nice and tasty. The restaurant could really benefit from a few candles or something on the tables to create a bit more of a cosy atmosphere but everything was clean and the staff were really nice and obviously trying very hard to be Covid safe.

The New Overlander Inn is well located reasonably close to Tenby. It takes about 30-40minutes to walk into Tenby along the beach, and it's a lovely walk. It is adjacent to a road so there is road noise in the day, but as your likely to be but that is not an issue. The road noise dies down in the evening so is not a disturbance over night. The train at the rear of the Inn rarely runs so again, no disturbance. The room in the roof is very nice and well looked after. Whilst it is called an Inn, they don't open until 5.00 and they close early if there are no customers, so as we couldn't be sure we'd get a drink we tended to go out and stay out, hence we didn't try their food either. This wasn't what we'd planned but there are some great restaurants in Tenby and the Cross Inn in Penally is 5 minutes walk. All in all, the Overlander was well located for us, we enjoyed our stay and could recommend it to others.

We ate here twice and each time were very pleasantly surprised with both the quality and service. The food we had was freshly prepared and well presented, albeit not the most extensive menus but what they had on offer was good quality at a good price. Would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who asked.

We were staying on the adjacent campsite and went in for a bit of comfort! We both had the lamb shanks and they were superb. The bar/restaurant was virtually empty because Covid had locked down most of South Wales ( albeit not Tenby) and greatly reduced the number of tourists. The fact that it was one of the wettest days on record can't have helped much either. The food and staff were excellent

We didn't stay overnight at the Inn but it is a great location close to the beach and Tenby.

I was in New Overlander Inn for 10 days, for working in the area. Karen and Rob helped me in everything possible, even before arriving in Wales. They made my stay easy and very confortable; preparing breakfast and dinner at the time fitted me, and being willing to help whenever I asked for a favour. The food is wonderful, the room was super charming, and the location quiet.

Sorry I can't comment on what happens at Xmas as we weren't there. However I can say that it is small cosy there is a bar. It is a 5min train ride and the station at Penally is 50yds from the front door. All the food is freshly prepared and all the staff work very hard to ensure everything is to your liking. Hope this helps.
