The Stag has been on our hit list for some time having been highly recommended to me by a foodie friend, so we booked well ahead choosing to stay 2 nights in the Inn (not wanting the short walk to the vicarage in deepest Feb). We spent 2 nights in a lovely beamed cosy room with a comfy bed and...

There had recently been A Birthday, so what with our son being on camp, we decided to treat ourselves to a special Valentine’s weekend. We had last eaten at The Stagg some 10 years ago, but never stayed over, and we were excited by memories of the food. Post work Friday night, we arrived in the dark, through rain and...

The Stagg Inn is a beautiful building and the restaurant is based in 3 individual rooms which are decorated to a high standard. I had the fig and blue cheese salad which I would definitely recommend and exceptionally well presented. Strange that as there were 5 of us at the table, they only brought us 4 pieces of bread, a...

Superb family meal on Christmas Eve. Everything was perfect..the welcome, the service and the food. The venison was incredibly good, as was the pork terrine, whitebait and seabass. We had limited room for puds but glad we indulged as the choc mousse and pannacotta were delightful. All washed down with some fab wine and Chase vodka.

Four of us went for Sunday lunch. We've been wanting to go for ages. It's imperative to book well in advance though. What a wonderful meal in every possible way. One Michelin Star restaurant producing good size portions is most unusual, but The Stagg manages to achieve that. The food is well presented. Different vegetables presented in side dishes and...

We have just got back home after a lovely Sunday lunch at this inn. It was an early birthday celebration for my husband. After an hour and a half drive I was hoping it was worth the effort. It was everything I'd hoped for. Excellent food, pleasant staff and a lovely old coaching inn, which has been excellently decorated inside....

We made a special detour to stay at the Stagg, booking DBB for one night, and were allocated a room in the separate building up the road, which is more expensive than those over the inn. On arrival a pleasant young man drove ahead of us along the road to show us the way to the old rectory and he...

Went to the stagg with my other half and had an excellent meal, they always cater for my dietary requirements (gluten free) and the staff are all clued up on what dishes contain gluten on the menu. We went ona. Friday evening and the food was stunning. I went again exactly 2 weeks later on a Friday night again at...

Birthday weekend for the other half. Super friendly staff, lovely room with very comfy bed. Beautiful three course meal & drinks & excellent full English breakfast the next day. Picked as one of the less pretentious michelin starred restaurants i could find. Very happy campers.
