After staying at Caister for many many years since our children were young we have just returned from a weekend visit. Must say this was the first time that other holidaymakers have spoiled our break as usually Caister gets a lovely mix of people. There was a kids rugby group ( ages probably 10-16) there with some adults. Certain children were so badly behaved . In the pool they were constantly being told off by the staff even though a parent was sitting on the side watching, using any part of the camp area as a rugby field to kick balls at or over, then in the evenings screaming and banging on caravan windows and causing a real nuisance to other holiday makers - whilst the adults with them seemed to be more interested in enjoying themselves rather than stopping the kids with them annoying other people. Such a shame as Caister is usually such a lovely relaxing place to come to but if they allow groups such as these it would really put us off coming back with family as it felt very intimidating and we left our break halfway through. Such a shame as we love it there usually and it’s such a lovely area to visit. Did speak to reception on leaving who confirmed there had been issues with the group in question.

We had a 2 bed bronze caravan - funny the only holiday we saved to not cook and it had a dishwasher and a spare toilet of the master room. I’d love to say thank you to Chloe at seaside treats. Amy from the mash & barrel…can’t remember the other lady’s name it began with and L she booked us in for all meals last Monday around 4pm ish, she was also working most days including Monday 8th 9am. Dan from entertainment as well as Jack, Lee from security and not forgetting the bar staff who where all amazing but didn’t manage to get names for that am sorry. Don’t get me wrong all stuff were kind and helpful but the ones I’ve listed went the extra mile for me. Oh my I forgot Dan from the activity team and Bob from the shop.

We went as part of a large party, all with children of different ages ranging from weeks old to teenagers. There were 7 caravans in all , we chose not to pay £40 each to choose the location of our caravans in advance, so got 3 at the top of the site and 4 at the bottom end, not a problem as we all just met up. The caravans were fine, ours was a bronze very clean and beds made on arrival. Only thing missing was a bin on the kitchen area which I would say is something I would expect. Shower in the caravan was good, and heating worked well. We found the mash and barrel was hit and miss on the food front, food often cold and definitely avoid anything with chicken - everyone who had this said it was dry and rubbery even with sauce on. We went to the chip shop once, only had chips which were fine. Lots going on for the children, and extra activities you can book but of course costs more. Swimming pool was chilly, but definitely need to look at what is acceptable behaviour. Lots of people throwing balls across a large area resulting in children getting knocked around when adults jump backwards to catch the ball, had to move around a lot trying to avoid this. If not busy this wouldn't be a problem but even with the pre booking system the pool was crowded. The real problem came on the Thursday afternoon when a power cut hit the whole site. It was off for about 4 hours, but in that time there was no communication at all on what was happening. As I had a baby with me I needed to sterilise bottles, which was done in a saucepan of boiling water, but needed to find someone with a lighter to do this. The electric came back on at the top of the site, but not at all on the bottom of the site. We know they worked all through the night due to the workmen near our caravan with the radio blaring out from their van. Just before 1am there was a loud bang and all electric went again, then came back on about 45 minutes later. We all got a message late at night saying there was a problem and advising people to stay put and not leave the site. Tea and coffee was provided free but that was all. Next morning breakfast was half priced in the mash and barrel, but they weren't making toast which is a given in a breakfast. Since returning there has been no communication at all from haven, I really think those who were without power all night should be refunded one night's money. Communication should be key in q situation like this, but was seriously lacking at the time and has been since.

We booked a Gold caravan, out of season, mid week 4 nights in March for a quiet getaway near the seaside in lovely Norfolk. As numerous previous poor reviews have stated [and got no recourse or compensation from Haven] we were extremely disappointed regarding our stay at this park. We booked a Gold caravan [at premium cost!] and were located in Reedham 8. As a previous reviewer has mentioned a lot [not all] of these new Gold premium caravans [for some unknown reason??] are located next to the main passing road. - We were woken the next morning at 7.30 am by 'active roadworks' ! see video of pneumatic drills..... - Our Bedroom was 2-3 metres away from the main road! - it beggars belief that the company thought it was acceptable to do that, as you pay a premium - would they rather you paid an additional £100 to choose your preferred alternative location?!! - there was a street lamp on all night on this road outside our caravan - It is obvious this would be extremely disturbing even if it was general traffic. - On top of this, there were temporary traffic lights [for the road works outside our window. - We later discovered [via a road sign not Haven company] that the roadworks were planned for several months on this small stretch of road so the campsite would have been fully informed of them! - please see the attached photos - can't upload video that shows noise and pneumatic drill - too large [fortunate for them] - on top of this there were no privacy nets/voiles so it meant we had to keep our curtains closed a lot of the day Comparatively additional annoying points; - Shower leaked from joint points so there was no pressure - Drinks in the bar had increased massively [we have visited Havens previously], and whilst we were there I saw a news review of the drink prices at Cheltenham and Wimbledon and we paid more? - The heating thermostat needs to be pressed every 30 mins to 1hr to keep the place warm or it switches off - The on site fish and chips takeaway was expensive and we've have never had worse - small, recooked and tasteless - No one informed us prior to to booking or our arrival part of the road would be closed for access or the diversions that would be put in place for our access. It seems Haven have adapted to the post-covid corporates that don't care and don't give a s**t

!!!BED BUGS!!! I Checked in on Friday 12th April and checked out Saturday 13th April 2024 one night was more than enough of a nightmare for me. I woke up to a bed bug crawling on me and after I did a very thorough search I found bed bug droppings, dead bed bug casings and blood spots and after a 2 hour search with a torch I found another bed bug under the seem of the mattress. I informed reception immediately who sent someone to the caravan to search, I use that term lightly as he had a very quick look on top of the sheet and mattress, he didn't turn mattress over, look in seems or anything! Reception refused to move me as they didn't find proof even though I pointed out the blood spots, dead casings and droppings to the man who 'searched ' the bed. Even if they offered to move me to another caravan I don't think I'd want to stay there any longer anyway. I paid nearly £300 for a week, none of which I'll get back. Very disappointed. Terrible customer service and very unhygienic

Overall we had a really lovely holiday. You couldn’t fault the area at all or the staff. We had an issue when we first got there as we had no hot water but that was dealt with right away. However on the Thursday afternoon there was a power cut. The funny thing was the main part of the camp was back on after an hour but most of the caravans especially our one near the bottom of the park had no electric still on the Friday morning. We were left with nothing from haven not even a torch. We had to walk back from the entertainment in the pitch black dark which wasn’t safe. We had a 5 year old that didn’t like the dark and to come back to a cold and dark caravan for the rest of the night wasn’t fun. Many people left that night. Out of hours number never worked we could never get hold of them and didn’t have good communication at all. We left before 7.30am Friday morning as it was freezing in the caravan and there was no point staying as couldn’t have breakfast. Was very disappointing for the last day as over 12 hours without power and not really an explanation. No idea what time it came back on the friday as we left. If we had known there wasn’t going to be power all night we would have left Thursday as well. Really not happy about this

Fantastic holiday over the 1st week of Easter. We choose this one because the arcade staff are so great with the kids. We first came 4 years ago and will never choose another park again and thats mostly because of the arcade staff. Shout out to Dale who got to deal with the kiddies and tickets constantly! One of my children has special needs and he is always made so welcome and no one questions his quirks or looks at him funny. The boys enjoyed their archery and target shooting and my daughter loved her pottery painting and we all enjoyed sand art. The kids enjoyed the tanks too and I was told they are definitely doing it again. I can't thank staff enough for patience with the children. See you again in August.

Lovely family break. We stayed in the Thurne area of the park and only downfall was it was a long walk to the amenities. It was close to the beach however and was very modern! My parents bought the dog and he was welcomed. Such a dog friendly park the dog was welcome all over the caravan site and all around Great Yarmouth, it is such a dog friendly place.

We stayed in the Caister area in a Bronze caravan. It was very clean and had everything thing we needed. We stayed Easter weekend with our young kids who loved it. With the park basically on top of the beach and lots of activities for the kids we hardly left the park. The pub on-site is a bit overpriced for the food on offer but again it was good for kids. We'd go again.

We have been to this site a number of times and on each occasion found the caravan great. The Tap and Barrel is over priced for what you get so only ate there once. We found the swimming pool warm but at times like the Wild West with balls being thrown 3/4 the pool length and the life guards doing nothing to stop it. I witnessed one lady being hit on the back with a ball leaving a bright red mark. We had a silver caravan and couldn’t fault it, it was very new and spotless. Our kids are getting older now but still enjoy the activities apart from my youngest who misses the old Rory and if you have kids Haven is not a bad place to holiday.
