Well I booked this as a last minute sort of thing with my partner and 2 kids as we needed to just get away and have a rest. Ive spend one night here so far (we are still here) and it’s just superb.. from the moment we checked in everything was as they say it was, often I think owners build it up, but this place is superb. We are staying in Sunrise Lodge, meticulously clean, super comfy beds, everything is here that you will need. We order a Tesco shop, just to make things easier. Huge American fridge freezer which you can load everything in, they give a a few teas/coffees and milk n stuff, even a couple of dishwasher tabs to get you started.Bring a small bag with essentials like foil, more dishwasher tablets and bin bags then you are all set.. The lodge is huge, we used two bedrooms out of the three, and they only charge you for the two thus ensuring you are never overpaying which is great. Check in was seamless, keys and a gate fob, shopping arrived perfectly on time, so much room inside, enough for 10 people let alone 4, hot tub perfect, and if you want privacy, electric shutters around to enclose you. Outstanding views all around, free eggs from the chickens… What’s not to like. This place is a stress free haven, it’s an absolute must and very family orientated…. Brilliant place, lovely people, 5 star Accomodation, if you don’t come here you have really missed out…

Really excellent lodge, one of the best we've stayed in! It was very well equipped with everything we needed, loads of space and extremely clean and well maintained. The hot tub was great, we used it every evening! Good location, very peaceful and a good base for visiting lots of places in the beautiful countryside. We will definitely be staying again!

Came home this week after a fabulous relaxing four nights in Lakeside Lodge, for our wedding anniversary. The photos you see online do not do this lodge justice. The owners provided a welcome basket, of tea/coffee/sugar, washing up liquid, dish clothes and a bin bag. Also a little bottle of milk. The facilities were great, ironing board, iron, hoover, hairdryer, dishwasher, washer dryer (so not much washing brought home, always a plus). My husband and I loved the lodge, the lovely little snug area upstairs with a TV, leading out onto the balcony, where we spent alot of time, listening to the birds and sheep and enjoying the peace and quiet. The view and area is so serene, it really is an escape from the world. The four poster bed was the comfiest bed we have slept in at a lodge. We always never sleep properly the first night, as being in a strange bed takes getting used to. This was not the case. It was comfy and the bedding was lovely warm. As it was just the two of us the two extra bedrooms were locked, but honestly it wasn't something we noticed. The downstairs bathroom was equipped with a jacuzzi bath, which was lovely. The hot tub was amazing! If I wasn't in there I was on the top balcony, enjoying a coffee with a view. There was also seating with a table on the veranda on ground floor also a bench by the entrance. We drove to Newtown to get a big shop for the week, but did visit the local village shop too. The weather was hit and miss this week, cloudy, some showers but we made the most of the nice days by exploring the area. Clywedog reservour is a must see. It was beautiful. There was also a chance to have freshly laid eggs from the chickens on site. If your lucky to get them. The arrival procedure was all so easy. The owners have thought of everything. They provided a welcome pack of walks within the area, local taxi firms, takeaways. Attractions near by. This was very useful. Also a little folder to write down what wildlife you have seen. There are recycling bins throughout the site as well. We will definitely be back. Two very happy visitors 😁

This was our second visit to Luxury Lodges Wales. We had an excellent time. Our lodge was amazing. I have recommended this place to so many people. The lodges are absolutely spotless. The covered hot tub is brilliant. It clearly shows that the owners of this site really look after their property. Thank you and we will be booking again for next year!

We stayed in the Valley Lodge for a week at the start of the month. The lodge was very spacious as a couple we only had access to one of the bedrooms, which was the one upstairs with a four poster bed, plenty of storage for clothes and a adjoining shower room/toilet and TV. At the top of the stairs their was a small sitting area with sofa coffee table and a TV. This sitting area lead out to the covered balcony that had 6 chairs and a couple of tables. The view from the balcony was stunning, looking right down the valley. Downstairs you had an open plan Kitchen/dining area and lounge with a massive TV. The Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. The fridge freezer had ice making part and was one of the big ones more than enough room for a week’s supplies. There was also a downstairs bathroom/ toilet with a large spa bath. Outside we also had a veranda with table and chairs, with a stand for disposable BBQ’s and the all important hot tub., all under cover. The lodge was immaculate with towels and toiletries in the bathrooms, a small welcome pack with tea, coffee, washing up liquid, dish towels and a small bottle of milk was perfect. Check in at reception was seamless, friendly and all the instructions given were perfectly clear. We had a cracking week weather wise and never used the dining table, we either ate on the veranda downstairs or upstairs on the balcony. We managed to have three BBQ evenings and a couple of cooked meals only eating out twice during the week. Each morning we had breakfast outside either upstairs on the balcony or downstairs on the veranda. There is also chickens on site and you are welcome to help yourself to the eggs that you need, your own pot luck if they have laid. I am a keen fly fisherman and with the pond on-site I had to give the fishing a go. It was only 30 yards from the lodge and I had the rods ready for action the whole week, it has an amazing quantity and quality of carp. I was able to pop down for the odd hour hear and there and spent a few afternoons or mornings there too. Now as the fishers reading this will know course fishing is completely different from fishing with a fly. I managed to catch eight over the few sessions I did, using sweetcorn and dog biscuits, but I caught the majority of them on the fly. The largest fish I caught was about 10lbs and their are some much bigger ones in there. My wife had a try also and managed to land one of about 8lbs not a bad for her first go a course fishing. Each evening we sat out on the balcony even when we did have some rain, as it was under cover and still warm enough. It is the peace and quiet that is hard to describe, the odd sheep, birds, owlets & eagles are the only sounds you hear. Unfortunately it was cloudy every evening and we never had the chance to see the stars in the sky, I am sure would have been amazing with the lack of light pollution. We visited Aberystwyth twice over the week. We did the Rheidol Steam railway experience which was a fantastic was to see the beautiful Welsh scenery, we would recommend a trip up and down the valley. We also did the funicular railway at the north end of the town and the views over the town and out to sea are the ones you see on half the postcards for Aberystwyth. The nearest town to Trefeglwys is Newtown, a great place to spend the afternoon and has 3 big supermarkets for all your provisions. We used the hot tub every evening and during the day on a lazy day. The water was nice and warm and the bubbles plentiful, the best hot tub we have ever had in a lodge. We have been on over 15 lodge holidays, never going back to the same place twice, all over the UK and this is by far the best one we have ever stayed in. We have already talked about coming back next year.

We have just returned from a week's stay at Luxury Lodges. There were 11 of us split over two lodges, Vista and Meadow. The lodges were superbly clean, well furnished and equipped and cosy. I made use of the on site pond to do a spot of fishing (first time in ages) and caught a few. We made use of the free eggs from the hen house - they were delicious. We bought a couple of disposable BBQ's off Mandy (before the cold snap arrived) . The location is excellent. Quiet (apart from the owls, pheasants, buzzards and kites and woodpeckers!) the views locally, no in the surrounding area are stunning. We also made use of the hot tub in each lodge. The location is also great as a base for exploring the area more widely. We visited Hafren Forest, Powis Castle, Montgomery, Gilfach Nature Reserve, the stunning Lyn Clywedog and a very misty Aberystwyth - it was only Aber that was misty - the drive through the Plynlimon range was sunny and spectacular! We were lucky with the weather - sunny and warm for 4 days and then much colder but dry apart from one rainy afternoon. We even had a bit of snow. All in all, a fabulous holiday and we may well be back! Thanks Mandy & Colin

We arrived for a new year break we booked Crows nest as only two of us, upon settling down after emptying all items, we used the hot tub after a long journey only to find the jets not working properly there was a warning on the main unit saying filter overdue 7 days to be changed, we messaged the owners and Colin came straight away attempted to press a few buttons but never managed to fix it, so said he would contact someone to ask about it, we then went inside to make a G & T very handy we thought to have a ice machine on freezer, but this failed to work and we opened the freezer door to all the ice falling out of the freezer onto the floor, while this was happening I was cooking dinner but we found the oven kept turning itself off, and then after 10/12 minutes turning on again, we called the owners again and Colin came up, his remarks were the freezer ice machine hadn’t probably been used for a while, he pulled it about we cleared the mess up and we managed to get some ice in a jug for later on, the oven kept turning itself on and off while he was there, we had chicken cooking in the oven to which he replied leave oven closed you won’t get poisoned it will carry on cooking ! The next day he came and checked the hot tub which still wasn’t working properly and said he will try again to contact someone , we was not to happy with it not being sorted out as we book a lodge with hot tub because I suffer with bad arthritis and this helps me. We then popped out for a small walk about an hour or two after this while out walking I messaged the owners to ask when would hot tub be fixed and if they couldn’t fix it can we be moved to another lodge as a hot tub was part of the rental contract, we received a call back after an hour or so to say we could move to another lodge, we packed everything up and moved to a larger lodge with fully working hot tub. Again we went to use the ice machine and this one never worked ! I notified them about this , and told them not to worry about it we would go and buy a pack of ice to use, about an hour later Colin knocked on the door he had gone and brought us a pack of ice, this was very kind of them. The lodge we had now was Lakeside lodge, it was very nice, but we had the inconvenience of having to go upstairs to sleep which I found difficult with my bad joints. All in all we had a nice time, the lodges location was not the best for us as not walking distance to a town, we personally wouldn’t class them as 5* , due to the issues we had, we do feel that the cleaners need to check electrical items etc before lodges rented so as the issues we had don’t happen. Saying that the owners were kind enough to move us to a larger lodge, would we visit again, probably not as have stayed in some locally more convenient for us .

Response from Mandy Powell, Owner at Luxury Lodges Wales
Responded 6 Jan 2022
We are so disappointed in this guest review as we went out of our way to put these petty matters right immediately during your stay. Firstly the hot tub was up to temperature and the low jets were working fine, however the high jets, when the button was pressed they would automatically come on and off constantly every 35 seconds, instead of stopping on continuously for 4 minutes and then switching off back to low jets. I explained to yourselves as you were already sat in the hot tub, to ignore the overdue filter by 7 days message on screen, as we always change the water and filter before every new guest arrives in the lodge. I also tried going into the computer of the hot tub to rectify the above problem, but this did not solve the problem, as this was about 7.30pm at night and you had already been in the hot tub for an hour, I confirmed I will try and speak to the hot tub engineer to try and remedy the problem, at this point you told me that that would be ok as you could still use the hot tub. Next morning you again used the hot tub as it was functioning normally only the high jets were going on and off every 35 seconds, you then text us the same day to ask when the hot tub would be fixed; I then facetimed the hot tub engineer, baring in mind everybody was on holiday, but after some time he diagnosed that a heat sensor had gone on the pump, and he would get one in the post in the new year; at that point we contacted you immediately to move you to another 2 storey lodge as this was the only one available, of which you were very happy about. On the night of your arrival, you again text us at 8.30pm to say the cooker and ice maker wasn't working properly, again I came up immediately and you confirmed to me that the cooker would stay on for 12 minutes, and go off for 12 minutes, and that you had a chicken casserole in the oven, and you were concerned that it wouldn't cook, however you confirmed to me that the casserole would normally take 30-40 minutes to cook properly, so I indicated to you just to keep the oven door closed and the casserole would be cooked in the next 15 minutes as it had already been in cooking for half an hour, and there would be no danger of any food poisoning, at this time I switched the cooker off at the mains switch on the wall, and reset the cooker and timer, and the cooker then worked fine, of which you confirmed in a text to me a little later.. The ice maker in the fridge worked properly, and the ice is dispensed on the front of the freezer door, so how the ice could have fallen out when you opened the door is beyond me, however when I went to look, I could see the funnel where the ice dropped down through was blocked with ice, so I simply opened the door, got a knife and then jabbed the ice which fell through the dispenser on the front of the freezer door, which landed on the floor, of which I helped you clean up, I then took out the ice maker tray and simply put all the ice out of the tray into a very large plastic jug, and put back in the freezer for your use later; I explained that would refill itself and work properly. You text me later to confirm that the ice maker was now working fine. Just to confirm it was Valley lodge you were moved to, not Lakeside, and before your arrival to Crow's Nest you requested that you wanted a hard bed, and so were given the 4 poster bed, as it is a lot harder than a devan bed, however yet again you were given the 4 poster bed which is located in the upstairs of Valley lodge, if you had requested at anytime, we could have simply opened up one of the downstairs bedrooms which have devan beds in. The ice maker in Valley lodge was working, but as the lodge was empty for the week pervious, the ice had simply stuck together in the tray and this only needed to be jabbed with a sharp knife to break up the ice, however as I was in the local town it was far easier and simpler just to get you a large bag of ice which you were grateful for. I trust that all our present and future guests at Luxury Lodges Wales will be able to read the response above and come to the same conclusion that this was a very petty guest review to simple matters beyond our control, of which all matters were dealt with immediately by ourselves in a very courteous and professional manner at all times. Kind Regards Colin (Owner LLW)
