I have been very fortunate over the years to stay at a number of lodges and this is one of the best.
We booked for 3 nights, at the Vista lodge.
Directions to LLW were clear from them, check in very quick and upto the lodge to park next to it.
Got some great advise from Mandy on a drive and eating.
I say up, as its slight up hill walk ( I am 54, not very fit, but quite an easy walk). The lodge has a ramp at the side if needed to gain access.
Kitchen, probably the best we have stayed in in terms of range of equipment and it was clean, massive fridge/freezer.
Living area, big corner sofa, with a TV/Sky etc, which we hardly used.
Veranda with large hot tub, both excellent, so if it rained, you could still go in the hot tub. Excellent at night for stargazing due to the lack of light polution.
Opposite the veranda is a bird table, so take some food, we saw numerous species include a Woodpecker !
Only the bedroom you have selected is unlocked, which makes perfect sense.
We had the upstairs bedroom, lots of space for clothes with a good size en-suite. Lovely balcony opposite the bedroom with the most amazing views across the 'plains. in between the bedroom and balcony is a quiet area with another TV.
The chickens were about 30 yards away, but you could only hear them when they layed, it was so much fun going for them, with the odd one still very warm.
Good covid practises in place, no liquids (Soap, washing up liquid), all remotes in plastic bags. Excellent recycling in place too and advice to use plastic gloves when collecting eggs.
The pond was a lovely place to sit and fish, you can tell they are not caught much as they are in excellent condition. They do have few ducks in there, which one likes to bite your feet !
Checkout is simple, just lock up and post the key at reception.
Ensure you drive on the B4518 to Machynlleth and then onto Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre to watch them feed the red kites.
We will be booking for a week as soon as the calendar is updated on their website.

We have stayed at Luxury Lodges SIX times and can thoroughly recommend everything about the holiday. From our point of view everything you need and more is available to you. Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Fridge Freezer, T.V., internet, DVD player and of course the wonderful HOT TUB. The Lodges are spotlessly clean and immaculate, all set in you own private space with parking and you feel totally secure in the grounds accessible by automatic gates on the driveway. So peaceful and calming experience to completely chill out during your stay or perfect for days out to explore the beautiful countryside. Only a short drive to the Town of Llanidloes where we went quite a few times for an Indian meal, Sunday Roast, and awesome fish and chips from Evans Fish Bar. Also just 20 miles from Newtown that has numerous shops, pubs, and restaurants. Plus driving sometimes for ages without passing another car on the road. Anyway as previously mentioned we have stayed six times and never tyre of the wonderful views from the lodge and the fantastic countryside, and will be definitely hoping to go back in the future. Mandy and Colin are first class hosts and are always there with helpful advice.

This was a return visit to Luxury lodges Wales having thoroughly enjoyed our first stay. Colin and Mandy offer a fantastic self catering experience in their very large accommodating lodges with the added luxury of a spotlessly clean private hottub. The lodges sleep up to six people with two down stairs bedrooms and a bathroom, large seating area with leather corner suite and tv. There is also a dining area and fully fitted kitchen with every appliance necessary for your stay. Upstairs boasts a four poster bedroom with ensuite bathroom and sitting room with tv and sofa. A balcony overlooks the beautiful Welsh countryside. Fresh eggs are available to pick from the chicken coop for your breakfast. Overall a thoroughly relaxing enjoyable tranquil experience. looking forward to our next visit.

Came back here after a first visit about a month ago. This time we were in the Meadow Lodge ( Crows Nest last visit) and it was so lovely. The lodge has everything you need alongside stunning views. It was immaculately clean and warm. Loved the mezzanine upstairs with sofa and TV and the balcony looked over the countryside. Hot Tub sooooo lovely and warm outside on the veranda..Great also being undercover and private. You can help yourself to very fresh eggs from the chicken run and they have recycling bins to help the environment.
The owners of these lodges are lovely people who are happy to help anytime. What I loved was you don’t pay for the whole Lodge if there are only 2 of you. You pay for the bedrooms you use. 1, 2 or 3. All they do is to close off the bedrooms not used and you have the rest of the lodge to enjoy. It’s so cosy and had one en-suite with the 4 poster bedroom upstairs and a bathroom that was downstairs with the 2 other bedrooms. The lodges have washer/dryers, huge fridge / freezer, kettle, toaster, dishwasher etc. bench outside for a picnic. Table and chairs on the veranda for an el-fresco meal.
Well thought out how these lodges are situated to keep them private with good views.
I would highly recommend..
If you feed the birds they will come ( as did 2 cheeky squirrels) ..

Absolutely superb views from cabins, sitting on decking with cuppa first thing on a morning to start the day. Spotlessly cleaned with all homely equipment catered for especially going to miss the hot tub along with penny the duck by the fishing pond. Fab week away with family.

Like everyone this year, we've been really restricted as to where we can go, so we decided to work with the situation and give Mid Wales a visit. We were over the moon with a long weekend in a part of our own country we'd never made the effort to see, and the crows nest lodge made it one of the most relaxing weekends we've ever had. I could happily come back for a week. The living area was cosy yet spacious with pretty much everything we could ever need. Shower/spa bath were both amazing. The bedroom was lovely too, the four posted bed was so comfy and it really made a difference to be able to change there and open the french doors out to the hot tub area. This was fantastic, the tub was really well maintained with stunning views over the countryside. Frankly it was bliss. Trefeglwys is a great location in the sense that its so peaceful and tranquil, but you're still able to reach most things. Newtown has most shops/supermarkets and isn't too far away. Llanidloes is down the road and has most things. We had Sunday Lunch at the Maes Mawr hotel in Caersws which was fantastic, and even better that they offered an evening sitting. Llanidloes also has every takeaway should you crave one. We didn't see much of Colin and Mandy apart from a very friendly check in, but the positive here is that everything was so good we didn't need to! My only criticism, and it is a small one, is that we were woken up before sunrise on our last day by the equipment cleaning the hot tub out. Perhaps in the dark winter months it could be done half hour or so later? It hasn't really changed my opinion, or how much I would recommend Luxury Lodges Wales. Thanks both for a relaxing romantic weekend

We stayed at Luxury Lodges Wales for three nights for my partner's birthday in April. It was a lovely getaway. The lodge is nestled in lovely surroundings with complete privacy from other lodges and parking right outside your lodge.

There is lots of space in the lodge. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, cutlery, plates etc. but no tea towel or washing up liquid, which wasn't a problem as we purchased these from the local shop, but this should have been provided I feel. We had a beautiful bedroom with a four poster bed, en-suite bathroom and a dressing table (every girls dream!). The bed was very comfortable and we had a great few nights sleep. There is also a bathroom downstairs with a sizeable bath.

The hot tub was disappointing - we did not spend much time in it over the weekend as the water was quite cool with no option to turn it up. This didn't impact on our stay, just an honest review.

I loved that you could get fresh eggs from the chickens on site!

Overall, our stay at Luxury Lodges Wales was great. Relaxing, chilled and comfortable - just what we needed and I would definitely stay again!

You know when you go to a nice restaurant and the meal is superb . The seating and table are excellent. The service is prompt. You enjoy the food.
Something is just missing. it takes some time to figure out what it is .

It's the ' approach" of the staff. If they had just made you feel special/ valued etc.

Well I suggest that the same is true of the owners of the lodges. Very functional ( yes I know its Covid) not once did they say " hello and welcome". Not once did they tell us how to get in touch if we need anything. Not once did they ask how we had enjoyed ourselves and if everything was ok.

We arrived and the first communication was to ask for my credit card for the damage deposit. We were given the key and that was that.. We telephoned before we booked to ask some questions but the same " functional" response. Feels like all about the money and less about realising that the break is important for customers.

However, the lodge was good and we had a nice break. For most people grabbing the key and lack of rapport don't matter .

These are my honest observations.

Visited for a family break away after 3 long months of homeschooling and not leaving the house.
Our expectations were high from the photos but wow, we were blown away!
The views are absolutely stunning!
The lodge itself was clean, warm and inviting. Super private and a good distance between each lodge. You really felt like you were in your own little luxury haven. Nothing to want for as it was so well equipped. We made great use of the hot tub and our children loved the space around the lodge to run around.
We loved visiting the on site chickens and sampling some of their delicious eggs.
We went for lots of lovely walks around the area.
Colin and Mandy were very welcoming but also left us alone to enjoy our holiday which further enhanced the privacy of the place. We knew we could contact them if we needed anything : )
Will most definitely be returning again. Thank you so much for providing us with a great break away from reality. You really do have a gem of a place!

What a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful, peaceful, clean and really well equipped and very comfortable lodges.
For those who need to know - the bed was also comfortable with a good quality mattress. As someone who has had back issues this is really important to me.
We loved the tranquility and being able to collect fresh eggs every morning was just brilliant. Great wifi too.
The owners are just lovely and so helpful and welcoming.
We will most definitely be returning.
Thank you So much.
