Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very sadly we had to arrange some short notice accommodation around New Radnor this week, we had already eaten at The Fforest Inn, and very much enjoyed that meal, so they seemed a good choice for accommodation.

The Fforest Inn, which dates back to the 16th century, has four rooms, all of which have recently been completely refurbished. Each room is very different, we actually used three of the rooms. The rooms are traditionally furnished which is in keeping with the atmosphere of the Inn. The shower rooms were very modern with excellent showers. The beds were comfortable with duvets and, as should be the case, everywhere was spotlessly clean!

We all ate in the pub on our evening there and very much enjoyed that meal, the pub prides itself on sourcing ingredients locally and also supporting its local community. Colin, who was cooking on that evening, very clearly knows his food well and the ingredients used to create that food – evident in him being to give clear advice on what my wife who eats a gluten free diet could and couldn’t have.
Breakfast consisted of free fruit and cereals, we then all had variants on full English. One tip, if you need your breakfast at a set time please make sure the kitchen knows, the breakfast was freshly cooked, we all enjoyed that meal.
But this stay was much more than just accommodation and meals, Nikki and Colin both knew why we were visiting New Radnor, their care of us went way beyond just providing us with a bed and meals and for that we are very grateful.

When I write reviews I rarely give 5 stars, if average service gets 5 stars how do we work out who provides really excellent service? Well it this case, those 5 stars are very well deserved. Thank you Nikki and Colin.

Absolutely superb. The welcome is very warm, the food is first class, all home cooked from scratch, very reasonable priced, and the vast majority of the menu is also available gluten-free. Plus its dog friendly, what more could you ask.

Would highly recommend it, we will certainly be making a return visit

We stayed for one night in early June. Quiet rural location. All the rooms have been recently refurbished to a good standard and are comfortable. Fresh milk provided for tea/coffee in our room with bottled spring water. We were made very welcome by the landlady. Good selection of beers and ciders. Hearty dinner and breakfast available.

Early Saturday Supper for children and adults a great success, the children would return for every meal, they felt so welcome, chattering days after about the lovely hosts who made us all feel at home and comfortable in these Covid times. Tasty food, colourful presentation and generous portions - we ate steak (well it was a wedding anniversary) and children delighted with bangers / chips and fish /chips- wholesomely done. Puddings not to be missed out on either; hot chocolate fudge cake & icecream for the boys (not a crumb left) and a substantially deep vanilla cheesecake for me, and icecream / sprinkles/ marshmallows for young miss with mermaid sprinkles no less!
This Drover's Inn is still bustling with the sound of chatter, socially distanced but friendly, it was a welcome relief in these difficult times. We will be back. Thank you.

Stopped for some lunch and a pint after walking up on the Radnor Forest. Beautiful traditional pub with great draught selection. Food was fresh and honest, no frozen nonsense or processed rubbish, owners are lovely too. The chips were better than any I’ve had anywhere!

2 couples with babies were fed and watered on a busy lunchtime. The food was lovely, good portion size and really well cooked. Vegan and gluten free options and local beers. Highly recommended,
A good beer garden for the sun and plenty of walkers and cyclists we’re enjoying the food as well.
Lots of COVID measures in place to make you feel safe as well

Recently stayed in lovely Penybont and hosts recommended Fforest Inn and we were no disappointed. T

The landlady & Landlord were very welcoming and made suggestions for our meal. Homemade meat pie was best ever tasted, with cheesecake to follow which was exceptional. So impressed, we booked to return on the Friday for fish supper which did not disappoint(Sea Bass melted in our mouths). In addition, got recommendations for places to visit even though not staying at Inn. A MUST if you are in the area and you MUST try the Mushroom starter!! Excellent !!

Passing visit whilst doing some greenlaning in the area and they managed to squeeze us in for a spot of lunch. The food was absolutely faultless and huge portions so great value for money. The cod was a lot bigger than expected and the coconut chicken curry was amazing. The homemade chips were a really welcomed addition as they tasted so good. We were too full for dessert but noticed that the menu said they were all handmade. Highly recommend a visit as it was a very cosy atmosphere.

I have been to very few restaurants where I have been made to feel so welcome, and so valued as a customer. The owners even supplied colouring books and games for our children. We enjoyed two courses and the highlight was certainly the home made desserts. If we lived locally we could come back regularly, instead we will make sure we recommend it to friends and family if they visit. Thank you for an amazing evening!

Wow, what a place.
The hostess is fantastic. Goes above and beyond and everything with a friendly smile. Quite a busy lunchtime but she ensured you felt important.
And now for the food. WOW. Proper freshly cooked food. Home made chips to die for, hand made burgers - I could go on but you need to try it for yourself.
If it was local we would eat out here weekly, really good value for money
Keep up the excellent work and standards
