Brynarth is the most beautiful place to stay, enjoy the tranquility and relax into this lovely area of Wales. James and Stuart are the best hosts, the guest house is immaculate with lots of personal touches and beautiful bedrooms, A perfect base for exploring the local area, or just for enjoying the beautiful gardens and woodland walk. Whether you stay for two nights or more you won't be disappointed, except maybe you would like to stay longer ! Such a relaxing break in these difficult times, excellent covid adherance is so reassuring. Thank you James and Stuart

We’ve just spent 3 nights at Brynarth and everything was just perfect. James and Stuart were excellent hosts, there when you needed them but not too much. Our room was tastefully furnished, a perfect size for our needs and absolutely spotlessly clean. Most important stuff: plenty of hot water, really comfy bed with 2 fluffy pillows each and breakfast is freshly made and delicious (poached eggs superb!). The house is well off the main roads which suited us as the only thing you could hear was the sound of the birds and the sheep (and the weekend we were there, the rain!!!). Our room was in the dairy barn which is alongside the main house but still within the exquisite gardens which you can roam freely in and would be lovely for an evening picnic on a sunny day. And last but certainly not least, there’s Brian their most delightful dog. Brynarth is definitely a place to go back to again and again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Brynarth Country Cottages. Beautiful location, cosy cottage and we had everything we needed including a lovely Bara Brith and jar of marmalade waiting for us when we arrived. We stayed in YCuddfan which can sleep 5. Room 1 had a double bed and Room 2 had a double and single in. It was very handy to have a shower room downstairs with a toilet, a bathroom with toilet upstairs and a sink in the room that sleeps three.

The whole place was lovely and clean. Bedding, bath and hand towels were provided, as well as toilet roll and some washing machine tablets and washing up liquid. I would bring a small towel and tea towel for the kitchen and a dish cloth.

Lovely private garden with bench and you can explore the Woodland Walk and the main garden straight out of the garden gate. We were 20 mins from Aberystwyth and explored Borth, the Red Kite Feeding Station at Nant Y Arian and the Osprey Project near Machynlleth all of which I would highly recommend. We were visiting family in the area so are relatively familiar with places to visit. A few people have mentioned the narrow country lane up to the property which does get easier and we rarely met anyone but keep an eye out for passing places!I would say that once down the hill on your way out, the Llanilar route is less hair raising than some of the very small B road options unless you’re really good at reversing down country lanes to the last passing place, which I am not!

We heard Owls at night, saw Pipistrelle bats, Red Kites, Buzzards and all sorts of other wildlife all of which can be spotted easily so if you like peace and quiet this is perfect spot for it.

Another lovely stay at Brynarth, and as always, we leave feeling refreshed and noticeably calmer. Covid rules are all in place, evidently followed, and our room was spotlessly clean. We had a queen bed this time and both slept so well...we almost missed breakfast!
The site on which Brynarth sits is a peaceful haven of bird song, rolling hills and beautiful trees. With everything that is going on in the world at the present time, this felt a million miles away from all of it.
Breakfast was delicious, and nearby Aberystwyth was kind to us with sunshine and stunning beach views.
James and Stuart made us most welcome and Bryan is the daftest of dogs 😍Thank you once again for a relaxed and stress free stay.

A place that I cannot speak highly enough of. It is remarkable, and somewhat reassuring, that places such as Brynarth still exist today. James and Stuart were warm and welcoming hosts from the moment I arrived, and nothing was too much trouble. My room was cosy, the breakfast each morning was delicious, the grounds were truly beautiful, and Brian ‘the dog’ was delightful.

Although Brynarth is in a rural setting, this just adds to its charm and tranquility. James and Stuart were very helpful in recommending local attractions, pubs and directions.

I hope to return in the future and I can not recommend this place enough. Enjoy!

We have just finished a 3 night stay at Brynarth and have had the most wonderful time. The hospitality from Stuart and James was great throughout, starting with contact before our visit up until loading our luggage into the car.
The setting for the guesthouse is stunning and feel we really struck lucky with some dry weather in November.
The room we had was spacious and expertly appointed, leaving us to want for nothing.
Breakfast was an absolute highlight, literally setting us up for the whole day.
The safety precautions for COVID were top rate leading to a secure and safe feeling.
All in all, a perfect visit which we will happily repeat in the future.

A belated but no less glowing review from our five night stay in the summer. We were reminiscing about Brynarth this evening which reminded us to review! A luxurious B&B tucked up some truly tiny lanes, which only adds to its peaceful charms. James and Stuart were warm and welcoming hosts from the very start, from when we were running late for check in (don’t underestimate the tractors you may meet, like we did). Full of insightful local knowledge, they made our stay, despite difficult circumstances, delightful and incredibly safe. Thank you. Excellent breakfasts and beautiful rooms, we cannot recommend Brynarth highly enough. And send our love to Brian!

We had a wonderful one night stay at Brynarth while visiting family. The house and gardens are immaculate, beautifully presented and every little detail and decor has been carefully planned and chosen. We stayed in room 2, one of the king rooms in the main house overlooking the garden. The decor was delightful, the bed comfortable and the bathroom spotless. On arrival Stuart was there to greet us and explained everything needed. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented once more. Such a charming place to stay. Hopefully we can come again in the future.

A super B&B in a great location, and value for money. Our room was lovely, spotless and nicely presented. The bed and linen was excellent - we slept really well. Breakfast was superb, quality ingredients and decent portions. Our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. There was WiFi available but it didn't work in our room. It did work outside and in the breakfast room though. It was actually quite nice to switch off, but difficult to map our itinerary from our room. Overall a great stay, perfect for us as it's close to family... we'd happily visit again.

WOW. What an amazing place to stay. James and Stuart are amazing hosts and I can't not mention the adorable dog, Brian. The accommodation was lovely and clean. We stayed for two nights and didn't want to leave. The garden and surrounding area is beautiful. If you enjoy walking, cycling or just relaxing then this is perfect for you.

Thanks James, Stuart and Brian for your hospitality.

James and Lorraine

Do you have a restaurant and which rooms take a dog

There is no dedicated restaurant at Brynarth, just a dining room where you have breakfast. The rooms in the annexe take dogs but not the bedrooms in the main building, as they are for guests with allergies. There is a small bar off the lounge area where you can order a drink at night but evening meals have to be booked in advance for a minimum of four people - most guests go out for the evening meals to local pubs.
