We have just spent a fabulous week in More Mountains Chalet Robin. The Chalet is hosted by Jess and Jo who made us so very welcome from our arrival to departure. Our day started with a wholesome breakfast and Yorkshire Tea. Jo then drove us to the lift of choice depending on where we were skiing and with 15 minutes notice was waiting for us at the end of everyday. Jess made the most amazing cakes to greet us back at the chalet and then later in the evening served up a fantastic 3 course meal. As chalet hosts they blended in perfectly with our group engaging in conversations at all levels, whether it be with our teenage boys or the adults over our dinner time chats. Having stayed in catered chalets across Morzine for many years, they are the best hosts we have had with nothing being too much trouble. The chalet itself is warm and inviting with a great layout, perfectly located and spotlessly clean. If you are planning on staying in the Chalet this season you are in for a real treat with a lovely couple to make you welcome. I look forward to using More Mountain again and seeing where Jess and Jo end up on their exciting adventure ahead.

We have just come back from the most wonderful week in Morzine staying at Chalet Robin with Jess and Joe as our hosts. The chalet is one of the best we have stayed in in over ten years of chalet skiing holidays. The top two bedrooms are undoubtedly the nicest but all of the rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The highlights are the huge living and dining areas which are wonderful spaces to chill at the end of a tough day on the mountains! Jess and Joe looked after us wonderfully. They had just the perfect balance of joining in with us and being friendly but didn’t invade any family time. They couldn’t do too much for us, down to the offering of lifts and confirming bookings for us. The food was awesome and plentiful and the wine just kept on flowing! The skiing conditions were mixed which was a shame but we made the most of what we had. The only downside of Morzine for us was the crowds and queues for the lifts. We have never skied on such busy slopes. Heading home to Chalet Robin at the end of the day made it all worth while though. Thanks Jess & Joe - enjoy the rest of your season.

Fantastic food, great fun without being pushy and very helpful with pick ups etc

Ski direct were great delivering skis to chalet and Morzine and the Ski instructors ESF were exceptional. The resort was excellent.

Stayed at Chalet Robin for the Christmas Week with family of 11 Adults: 1st impressions were very promising, .given canapes on our evening of arrival and made very welcome by Andy and Kate. That’s when it all started to go downhill. This never happened again.
Breakfast was ok, if you like the same thing everyday, at the same time: We were given no choice of times or of what we would like (even the option of 15mins later would have been a comprimise). The same every day expect christmas day... I guess this must have been the exception. We were also told that we could not go into the kitchen due to Health and Saftey.. So could not even prepare ourselves anything should we want too…. Ummmmm!!
Arrived on Saturday and were given clean towells on Thursday the day before we left. Our rooms were never cleaned or beds made the whole time we were there.
Lifts to the slopes were offered: again at a time of convenince to suit our hosts not the guest staying at the the chalet: we needed two lifts because the mini bus did not cater for all of us to travell together. This was only offered early in the morning at 9am and then you are expected to stay on the slopes all day till 4.30 when it is convient for the host to collect you. Which did not always happen? Evening Meal was adequat but again no option of choice or consideration for time of meals. They were sevred very late. Sometimes it felt like we were staying in a POW camp not a supposed 5* chalet. (Definatley not) Beds were extremley uncomfortable and cheap, did not get a good nights sleep the whole week..

Would we stay at this chalet again? Defeniatley not. Would not even recommend it to friends or family!

Response from moremountain, Owner at More Mountain - Chalet Robin
Responded 18 Jan 2013
Thanks for taking the time to review our chalet. We are very disappointed that you felt the need to write such a negative response to our business on behalf of your party, particularly when we received such good feedback from the group leader who booked the holiday on your behalf. We do, however, appreciate this was your first chalet holiday and that you had never stayed in a catered ski chalet before. It is quite clear that your holiday at Chalet Robin, booked by someone else on your behalf, was not quite the "hotel" experience you were expecting. We are very clear on our website about the service we provide. We are a small friendly and personal business and as a professional ski chalet operator, we don't try to be a hotel. Catered Chalet Holidays are unique, and different to the norm, hence why we let you know when you arrive, during champagne and canapes, how things work. Dinner is a set menu and included in the cost of your holiday. It is freshly prepared by your hosts daily (which is very normal in a ski chalet) and served at 7.30pm every night with good quality wine. With regard to cooking for yourselves on an ad hoc basis in the ski chalet, it is not possible as it is not a self catered property. It is a fully catered property and we are not permitted to allow our guests to cook in our kitchen due to licensing and health and safety regulations. This is standard practice. We offer a flexible pick up and drop off service to and from the mountain in our 8 seater minibuses and landrovers between 8.30 and 10.30 am in the morning and after 4pm in the afternoons which generally suits skiers and boarders really well. There were a number of occasions when our staff actually went out of their way to pick your group up and drop off outside of the normal pick up and drop off times as you didn't start ski-ing until 11.30 every day and we picked you up at 3.30 on a number of occasions. We even had walkie talkies so you could radio us when you needed a pick up - we will always try to accommodate. We offer a delicious continental breakfast daily with an additional cooked option of bacon and eggs to set you up well for the day ahead. This is served at a set time agreed by yourselves "as a group" the night before to allow you to get on the slopes at your convenience to enjoy the days ski-ing. Our chalet is immaculate when you arrive and all communal spaces are cleaned throughout on a daily basis. As our staff don't live in, they are not in the chalet all day long so rooms can only be cleaned after breakfast once our guests go on the mountain. We clean rooms on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If you had specifically wanted your room cleaned at a later time than normal we would have gladly accommodated but it is often difficult to do this when our guests are still in the chalet. Incidentally many of your party actually requested that we were not to clean rooms as they preferred to lie in. We offer a towel change and L'Occitane toiletries top up once a week after the chalet host day off - we don't normally offer a daily change, however, if you had wanted one all you would have needed to do was ask and we could have accommodated. Our beds are top quality and come from a hotelier supplier and we even put thick mattress toppers on our doubles to ensure there are no gaps! Chalet holidays are all about fun and getting out on the mountain to enjoying the ski-ing - they offer great value for money. You are the first person in 6 years to complain about being expected to stay on the slopes all day! We cannot help but think your main aim was not to ski and perhaps you would have enjoyed a more flexible approach to your first ski holiday in a self catered property or hotel. .... and finally, we truly thought your reference to a "POW camp" meant POWDER as it was dumping and had dumped a shed load of snow in Morzine when you arrived! Kind Regards Sam & Jon - The Owners More Mountain Morzine

We booked a last minute stay at Chalet Robin, having enjoyed a week there 5 years ago. Had a great week in the most comfortable chalet we have ever stayed in. Food was excellent, with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble for hosts Matt and Robyn. Great location, yummy cakes and a hot tub, what more could you want! Would definitely return for a third time.

We are a large family of 10 (plus a 7 m/o baby) and stayed at Chalet Robin for a week with the wonderful Glenn and Chelsea. The food was amazing and everything was seamlessly organised for us- from ski rental to a dip in the hot tub!

The chalet is well located and is a walkable distance to the town centre or Pleney for skiing, and there are regular (free) buses too. Glenn also picked us up and dropped us off each day if we wanted.

Morzine itself is lovely and has everything you would want from a ski town. The chalet was perfect for our stay and we had an amazing holiday.

Big thanks to our wonderful hosts who were not just amazing cooks but gave us plenty of great tips for our stay and became one of the family!

We’d love to come back!

Wow.

A group of 6 of us shared Chalet Robin with another 6 people that we'd never met. Glenn ("with two 'n's", or two 'n's Glenn as I called him) and Chelsea were such amazing hosts that by the end of the week we felt like a little family. We had a great time. We were really well looked after, the food was amazing (I must go on a diet now!), the boot drop service and the pick-ups / drop offs was so helpful and they could not have done enough for us.

This was my boyfriends first time skiing and my second time (first went 15 years ago!) and the experience we had here, along with the fantastic skiing, means we will be booking again, hopefully at Chalet Robin or if not another More Mountain chalet as long as Chelsea and Glenn are there :-)

The chalet itself was just lovely. A cosy lounging area with a nice wood burner, the kitchen diner is something I'd like in my own home. The hot-tub is outside - we had tiny snowflakes whilst we were in there. We felt so comfortable there.

A huge thanks to the hosts - you were awesome and we will be back to More Mountain and hopefully back to you guys if we can. Another thanks to the other guests for an amazing time. The games, the drinks, the laughs... it was the best! Thank you.

I don't think we'll ever find another place like it and I would definitely recommend More Mountain and in particular Chalet Robin.
