This was our second year at Howgills and although we had a lot of rain it’s still an amazing place to stay. Ideal location, a small site, very clean and well managed. Will be going again. Would recommend it to anyone with or without children, plenty for all.

We have just come back from a 2 night break at Howgill. After some initial communication issues we managed to get confirmation of our booking - and we had a wonderful time. The location is perfect - a short walk down to the river where you can have a dip - weather permitting and only a couple of miles from the Craven Arms where you can get very decent pub food. The campsite is only small but has good facilities - shower blocks and loos x 2 - which were absolutely spotless at all times. An added bonus is the Brownie Barn only 5 mins walk down the road - here you can get a good cup of coffee , light snacks and believe it or not - brownies that have been made on the premises! Just a shame that a few of the dog owners on the campsite can' t be bothered to pick up their dog mess when they walk their dog down the lane !!!

Our first stay at Howgill and I’m sure it won’t be our last. This campsite is in a lovely setting with plenty of amenities, they have the Covid changes spot on. We also packed the incorrect regulator for our gas supply and the site went out of there way to provide us with a gas bottle that we could use at no cost. We were 2 families with 4 teenage children and we all had an amazing time. Thank you Howgill lodge for a birthday I won’t forget. Donna Hindle

We used Howgill Lodge campsite for 3 or 4 days last week while we walked the first half of the Dales Way and shuttled back and forth with 2 vehicles. It was an ideal base - beautiful location as we knew from a previous stay, very uncrowded (they've halved their capacity for now because of Covid), very safe (exemplary arrangements at the shared facilities - toilets, shower blocks, covered washing-up area), and both friendly and helpful. Because the site has all been levelled on various terraces it's a great place to go with a campervan or indeed small caravan or tent (no need for chocks to level up, in most cases), there's wifi up near the reception and office, which is handy, and perhaps best of all "Love Brownies" has just opened up in premises along the access lane towards the main road, so you can even get a top-quality cappuccino to go with your salted caramel or raspberry brownie and set you up for the first part of your walk. A lovely place and we'll be delighted to come back yet again in due course.

We stayed at howgill lodge every year for 10 years, it is a beautiful site and all caravans are kept to such a high standard. We used the shower block on occasions which were also immaculate. The shop was well stocked, we also stayed in the barns which are beautiful too and breakfast was amazing. My childhood memories are feeding the chickens with Mr Foster with a freshly picked egg on a morning for breakfast and Winston the Turkey! We were looking to come back this year but unfortunately they don’t take dogs but I will be returning in the future with my family!
